Zona looked at Lin Ling with a serious expression. Although it was somewhat inappropriate for her to ask such a question in her current position, if this issue wasn't brought up, the future demon race would inevitably fall back into that state of famine.
“Hmm...”
After hearing the question, Lin Ling lowered her head. The others could only see her somber face.
Zona couldn't help but swallow hard.
“Oh, that problem has already been solved!”
Lin Ling was smiling when she looked up, though none of them understood why she was smiling, even much later.
But Miss Saintess had smiled when answering this question.
And the reason for it was never found, not even in any of the meticulous records kept by Phelan, the historical recorder.
【If Miss Saintess really disappears one day, then let this body serve its final purpose.】
【The Sacrificial Saintess hereby lays down her plea to this land, willing to sacrifice her everything to protect the kind people of this earth from being eroded by magic ever again.】
This was the sacrifice Lin Ling had offered to God after making her vow with Ivelia. It was also the most greedy sacrifice the Goddess had ever received from a Saintess.
Inside the pure white space, Kavia looked at the screen showing the others pressing Lin Ling for a solution, looking somewhat disheartened.
“The little one really is quite greedy.”
“What a greedy Saintess indeed, wouldn't you say, Lady Goddess?”
Kavia looked at the flame-like object held in the Goddess's hand, her eyes glittering beneath her mask.
“Greedy? I suppose so.”
The Goddess gazed at Lin Ling, who was still smiling on the light screen. She had never doubted that the Saintess would offer such a sacrifice while she was still alive. Then, she turned her gaze to another light screen.
On that screen, Ivelia was currently weaving some white fabric.
“What a selfish little Demon King.”
The Goddess looked at the two of them, her eyes shining with amusement at their antics.
...
“Well, since Miss Saintess doesn't want to say, let's proceed with the experiment first.”
Seeing that Lin Ling was unwilling to reveal her solution, Phelan didn't intend to press further. Continuing to ask would only become annoying.
“Mhm, mhm! Let's do the testing first.”
Seeing that they had dropped the subject, Lin Ling let out a sigh of relief.
If they kept pressing, the Demon King would probably find out about this.
Miss Saintess was still keeping her contract today! What happens after she dies obviously doesn't count!
“First, could Miss Saintess cast a Holy Light Stasis that can envelop a person? Is that possible?”
But the moment Zona finished speaking, a Holy Light Stasis was already cast over her.
“So fast?!”
This speed could practically be considered the peak of this world, couldn't it?!
Although she was somewhat shocked by the casting speed and the ease of the domain's formation, considering this was the Demon Realm, it was somewhat normal.
“Now, Miss Leticia, please cast an enhancement blessing on me.”
Looking at Leticia standing nearby, Zona sought the Saintess's power. After all, she couldn't withstand the raw magic of the Demon Realm on her own!!!
However, as soon as Leticia gathered Holy Light magic in her hands, more than half of it was instantly absorbed by the surrounding Holy Light Stasis.
“That's easy! Let me help you!”
Lin Ling pointed a finger and walked over to Sia.
She grabbed Leticia's hand, and a stream of pale blue magic flowed down her arm and into Leticia's body.
“I... I feel the power!”
Leticia felt as if her body was being conquered by a powerful force, and for a split second, her mind felt as if it had been possessed by Lin Ling.
Having said that, Leticia immediately cast several enhancement spells toward Zona.
“You've been buffed! Go get 'em!”
Once the spells attached to Zona, Leticia hurriedly broke her connection with Lin Ling.
What on earth just happened to me? Why did I suddenly act so weird?
Meanwhile, the buffed Zona seemed to have been infected by that strange blue magic.
“Power, I feel the power!”
Her red hair was instantly blown upward by the air currents swirling around her, and her plain butler suit could hardly contain her newly buffed body.
In the next instant, Zona flew right out into the high-mana environment outside the domain.
“Hahaha! Power, power is continuously surging into my body!”
Phelan stared at Zona, suddenly wondering if the decision he made back then had actually been the right one.
Even Phelan is breaking a cold sweat?
Watching Phelan pull out a cloth to wipe the sweat from his face, Lin Ling began to suspect there was something between him and Zona.
After all, she had done so many wild things, yet she had never once seen Phelan break a cold sweat.
Suspicious~
Meanwhile, Kainster, who had unfortunately fainted, finally woke up after Danasuo's urgent “rescue.”
“Why does it feel like I saw my father? He was waving at me.”
Seeing Kainster wake up, Danasuo shed tears of emotion. All her flying kicks had finally paid off.
“Where am I? Why does it feel like every bone in my body is broken?”
Kainster felt nothing but pain all over his body.
Once he finally recovered his senses, he saw Leticia looking slightly flushed, Danasuo gazing at him with a peaceful expression, and... Lin Ling, who appeared to be lost in deep thought?
The last one was absolutely impossible.
But where was that noisy racket coming from?
When he turned toward the source of the noise—
“...”
Who on earth was that red-haired elf shouting about power in the distance?
She looked a bit like Zona?
No, no, no, how could that be? How could their rational, strict aide ever act like that?
But in the next second, their eyes met.
“...”
“I see. I must still be asleep in bed right now.”
Kainster immediately lay back down on the ground. Wearing a blissful smile, he picked up a nearby rock and bashed it against his own head, trying to wake himself from this terrifying nightmare.
“Dammit, don't use death to escape, you bastard!”
Danasuo executed another flying kick to send the rock flying out of Kainster's hand, then proceeded to wildly claw at his face.
“Ow!”
“This isn't a dream?!”
Feeling the stinging pain on his face, Kainster realized there truly was such a bizarre reality in this world.
That aide was actually running wild in the open field, completely throwing all her dignity out the window.
By now, the buffs had mostly worn off, and Zona's floating hair drifted back down as the power dissipated.
With her hair in a disheveled mess, she walked back into the Holy Light Stasis.
“The... the experiment was a great success. The Holy Light Stasis successfully blocked the high-concentration magic outside, and the buffs applied inside did not disappear.
Now we just need to install it into adjustable devices.”
However, behind the hair covering her face, nobody could see that her face had flushed so red it almost matched her hair color.
After recording the data, Phelan silently stepped in front of Zona to block her from view.
“Alright, the experiment is over. Thank you all for your cooperation. Zona and I will head back first to process the data.”
Without waiting for a response, he used wind magic to carry Zona away, quickly making their departure.
