Chapter 23 | A Socially Anxious Immortal Seeks Merit Online

Soon, everyone woke up from their enlightenment.

Duke of the East glared fiercely at Dijun and Taiyi, who were standing in front of Yuan Heng, his resentment incredibly intense.

He was just about to complain to the Dao Ancestor that Dijun and Taiyi had disregarded the Immortal Court to secretly establish the Demon Court, when the Dao Ancestor hastily spoke, “The next lecture will be on the Dao of Sainthood. Return in three thousand years.”

Things look sketchy, time to flee—he certainly didn't want to play judge for Duke of the East.

His feelings were also quite complicated. Timing, geographical advantage, and human harmony—he had seemingly possessed them all... how did things end up like this?

Only smart cookies won his favor, like Yuan Heng, the Three Pure Ones... as for the not-so-smart ones, he didn't care about them.

Duke of the East, who was just about to step forward, froze for a moment, and his face instantly turned livid.

Especially upon seeing the blatant mockery on the faces of Dijun and Taiyi, his face gradually became as red as Fellow Daoist Hongyun's hair.

Yuan Heng's facial expression didn't change in the slightest, but in truth, she was laughing like crazy deep inside.

Hahahahaha—

She knew Duke of the East would have that kind of expression! This was too hilarious.

Yuan Heng tried her best to control the corners of her mouth from curling up. With a cold little face, she stood up and silently walked toward the main entrance. At this very moment, she declared that she was the most aloof person in the world.

However, just as she was about to walk out, Houtu and Jumang, the two Ancestral Witches closest to the door, stopped her.

Jumang strode forward and called out to her, “Hey, Fellow Daoist Yuan Heng.”

Hearing the voice, Yuan Heng turned around. “Ah, it's Fellow Daoists Houtu and Jumang. What is it?”

This Ancestral Witch Jumang was indeed slightly different from the other muscular, burly Ancestral Witches; he looked quite gentle.

Houtu approached her with a warm smile on her face. “We stopped you because we wanted to invite you to visit the Wu tribe.”

Yuan Heng: ???

Huh? Why were so many people inviting her to visit today?

Sigh~ It was still because she was too outstanding as an immortal and too likeable.

Hehehe~

“Since you have invited me, Fellow Daoists, I will visit when I have some free time.”

Let's delay it for now. Goddess Nuwa's invitation was still queued up first.

But it just so happened that they were all near Mount Buzhou. She could visit them all together to save herself from making two trips.

Oh my~ That was so convenient.

Houtu looked at Yuan Heng, her expression holding some unspeakable difficulty. “Fellow Daoist Yuan Heng...”

Ah?

“Fellow Daoist Houtu, please feel free to speak plainly.”

Yuan Heng looked at Ancestral Witch Jumang, who looked like he could barely wait to speak for Houtu behind her, and fell into deep thought. Yes, indeed, with a burly physique like that, he definitely wasn't someone who could keep a secret.

Actually, she didn't know if she should think this, but she felt that Fellow Daoist Jumang was like a... mother hen.

“Then I shall speak plainly.”

The gaze Houtu directed at Yuan Heng was full of warmth and eagerness. “Do you still remember, Fellow Daoist, what we told you before about the spirit butterflies bringing vitality to the Wu tribe?”

Yuan Heng nodded in a daze. “I remember. Did something happen to the children of the Wu tribe?”

Houtu nodded. “It is a good thing.”

“Nurtured by the vitality of the spirit butterflies, the newly born Wu actually possess a strand of Primeval Spirit!”

Ah???

Yuan Heng was surprised for a moment. She actually had this kind of function?

Houtu looked around. Many people's gazes were focused here, but she had no intention of hiding it.

Humph, tremble! Our Wu tribe can cultivate the Primeval Spirit too now.

“There are still many secrets involved, which is why we want to invite you to the Wu tribe for a chat. We also wanted to ask for your help to see if there are any issues with the Primeval Spirits of those new Wu.”

“This matter will count as our Wu tribe owing you a favor. What do you think, Fellow Daoist?”

Jumang's gaze also became burning hot, making Yuan Heng feel quite embarrassed.

What else was there to say? Yuan Heng let out a soft laugh. “Alright, I agree to this.”

“After all, the Wu tribe only had these complications because of my spirit butterflies. I will make a trip to the Wu tribe with you first.”

Oh my, she was going to check out Mount Buzhou~

Perfect. After visiting the Wu tribe, she could go to Fellow Daoist Nuwa's place to discuss the Dao.

And then return home for a nice, long seclusion to stabilize her cultivation.

Hearing this, both Houtu and Jumang showed expressions of joy. “Then thank you, Fellow Daoist.”

“No worries. Fellow Daoists, there is no time to lose, let us head out quickly.”

Oh my god, why were Dijun and Taiyi shooting daggers at her with their eyes? Hadn't they heard that she was just going to handle an after-sales issue?!

Time to slip away.

Yuan Heng followed Houtu and Jumang at lightning speed and finally arrived at Mount Buzhou.

However, in the next second, Yuan Heng suddenly had a flash of inspiration.

It felt as if there was some opportunity waiting for her on Mount Buzhou.

How strange. This was the first time she had experienced this feeling since she took form.

Yuan Heng stopped her steps and looked at the two Ancestral Witches leading the way. “Fellow Daoist Houtu, Fellow Daoist Jumang, it seems there is an opportunity for me on Mount Buzhou.”

“I want to go take a look. Why don't you two return to the Wu tribe first, and I will catch up later?”

Houtu and Jumang exchanged a look. “No matter, we will accompany you.”

Ah?

That was very thoughtful of them.

Yuan Heng followed the mental navigation in her mind all the way to the foot of Mount Buzhou.

Looking at the majestic, seemingly endless Mount Buzhou before her, the scene of her meeting God Pangu when she was still a little ball instantly appeared in her mind.

Sob sob sob, Father Pangu, the Primordial World you opened up is wonderful, it's just that it generates quite a lot of tribulations. After one group finishes performing, the next steps onto the stage... the cycle of the Great Dao, creation and destruction.

What is the right way to handle this...

Yuan Heng clasped her hands and bowed three times toward Mount Buzhou, thanking God Pangu for his grace.

This action instantly maxed out Houtu and Jumang's favorability toward her. Look, what a great kid.

The three walked up the mountain from the foot, feeling that the higher they went, the heavier the residual pressure left by God Pangu became.

Looking at the Ancestral Witches beside her, whose bodies were incredibly strong and showed absolutely no reaction, Yuan Heng fell into deep thought. Alright, although she felt the pressure, she could still handle it.

Brave Yuan Heng, fears no difficulties!

After climbing for an unknown amount of time, Yuan Heng finally arrived.

Indeed, even after becoming an immortal, mountain climbing was still not an activity she could enjoy.

Whew—she was exhausted.

However, many people had already gathered at the mountaintop.

The Three Pure Ones, Nuwa and Fuxi, Dijun and Taiyi, Hongyun and Zhenyuanzi...

“So many people.”

Yuan Heng greeted Tongtian, who was looking at her with a beaming smile. Seeing this, Hongyun leaned over. “What a coincidence, Fellow Daoist Yuan Heng! Are you here to hunt for treasures too? ~”

“Are you free to go to Wuzhuang Temple with me and Zhenyuanzi for a chat after we finish dividing the treasures? We can play cards together. How about I treat you to some Ginseng Fruits?”

Zhenyuanzi: ? Those seem to be my fruits.

Yuan Heng: “...”

No! She absolutely would not go!

“Thank you for your kindness, Fellow Daoist Hongyun, but I already have an appointment with the Ancestral Witches and Fellow Daoist Nuwa, and I have important business to attend to. I'm afraid I must decline your kind offer.”
