Over the next few days, Shi Yu focused her mind while sitting on the ice platform to stabilize her cultivation.
Her foundation was exceptionally solid and her mind clear, allowing her to remain unbothered by mental barriers. Though the process of Foundation Establishment had seen its share of twists and turns, once her spiritual energy liquefied and her Dao Platform took shape, officially stepping into Foundation Establishment made stabilizing her realm easier than it would be for an ordinary cultivator.
In just five days, Shi Yu rose from the ice platform. Her realm was completely stabilized, without even a trace of the instability typical of a newly broken-through cultivator.
At this moment, inside her murky Purple Mansion, the Yin-Yang Fate-Tapping Bell rested squarely in the center, while her natal magic artifact, the Yinhuang Bow, hovered a short distance away.
She looked first at the Yinhuang Bow and noticed subtle changes in the exquisitely radiant longbow. Looking closely, the runes originally engraved on the bow had grown far more intricate, emitting an aura significantly stronger than before, while the bowstring glowed brilliantly, far tougher than ever.
“The tier of the Yinhuang Bow has increased.” Shi Yu’s face lit with joy. Taking out Yinhuang, she held and fondled it fondly.
This was her natal magic treasure, continuously tempered and nourished inside her Purple Mansion by her spiritual energy and divine sense, growing stronger alongside her own power. Now that she had reached Foundation Establishment, Yinhuang had expectedly upgraded as well.
Drawing the bowstring, tiny wisps of flame intertwined across it, sparking brilliant glimmers before spiritual energy gathered on the string, condensing an arrow out of thin air.
Shaped like a phoenix feather, the arrow blazed with magnificent, fiery splendor and exuded a majestic aura.
The surrounding wind and snow were driven back by the momentum of the arrow, scattering as if threatened, while whatever couldn't disperse in time melted into water droplets under the arrow's intense heat and swiftly evaporated.
Feeling the formidable power emanating from Yinhuang's arrow, Shi Yu felt satisfied and slowly released the bowstring, letting the arrow dissipate into a cluster of starlight.
Putting away the Yinhuang Bow, she immersed her mind back into her Purple Mansion to look at the Fate-Tapping Bell resting in the center.
The Fate-Tapping Bell bobbed gently inside, giving off a clear, ethereal radiance that sent out a faint sense of summoning.
As Shi Yu’s divine sense drew near, she saw many tiny words the size of tiny flies newly emerged on the bell's surface, shifting and drifting back and forth. These newly birthed characters exuded an ancient and mysterious aura, each seeming to hold vast amounts of information, enough to make one dizzy at a glance.
When her divine sense approached further and touched the Fate-Tapping Bell, the tiny words abruptly rose from its surface, floating within the sea of consciousness inside her Purple Mansion to form a cultivation technique.
“It's the continuation of 《Yin-Yang Fate-Tapping Record》.”
The Fate-Tapping Record Shi Yu had been cultivating was not the complete text, but merely the technique used during the Qi Refining Realm, which was no longer suitable after reaching Foundation Establishment. She had been worrying about what new cultivation technique to find for her Foundation Establishment Realm, but now that the Fate-Tapping Record had updated, she no longer needed to look elsewhere.
The importance of a cultivation technique to a cultivator went without saying; its quality affected breathing efficiency, as well as the depth and purity of spiritual energy in one's body.
Shi Yu’s spiritual meridian had been extracted, and her newly grown spiritual meridian was far inferior to her former one. Logically, both her speed of absorbing spiritual energy and her capacity for spiritual power should have lagged behind ordinary people. In reality, her cultivation speed was not inferior to anyone's, at least half of which was due to an extraordinarily profound and mysterious technique like 《Fate-Tapping Record》.
Now that the technique had updated, she would naturally build upon her foundation and continue practicing it.
Extending her divine sense into the interior of the Fate-Tapping Bell, she found that significant changes had taken place there as well.
The space inside the bell had expanded to ten zhang square. The perfectly round land was bisected by a line of water into two fish-shaped halves, each side holding a spring in black and white, forming the image of a Taiji diagram.
The two springs were none other than a pool of Life Spring and a pool of Slaughter Spring. The spring vents were now a lap larger than before, a few inches wider than the mouth of a bowl. Under Shi Yu’s divine sense inspection, she learned that seven drops of spring water would now be produced every half-month.
“On average, that's roughly one drop every two days.”
The two springs possessed endless magical uses, so she could never have too much. While seven drops every half-month couldn't be called truly abundant, it was far better than the four drops every half-month from before.
The medicinal field beside the Life Spring had also expanded considerably. Where it had been slightly crowded before, it was now spacious, leaving plenty of empty soil for Shi Yu to plant many more spiritual plants.
Besides the spiritual plants Shi Yu had planted later, this medicinal field contained several innate spiritual flowers and immortal herbs inherent to the Fate-Tapping Bell, which had remained in a sprouting state. Because divine objects naturally concealed their radiance and brilliance, Shi Yu could not tell what these spiritual flowers and herbs were, and seeing how slowly they grew, she had left them alone.
Looking at them now, sprouts had lengthened and stems had grown—these spiritual flowers and immortal herbs had finally grown a notch higher.
“I wonder how long it will take before they mature.”
Shi Yu stared at them for a moment before shifting her gaze and withdrawing from the Fate-Tapping Bell.
Now that her breakthrough was complete, it was time to leave the Xuexiao Spirit Node.
Taking out the voice-transmitting bowl President Cui had given her before entering, Shi Yu struck it. Instantly, a crisp and lingering chime rang from the bowl like heavenly music, penetrating space and echoing far in all directions.
She waited patiently in place. In just a short moment, a teleportation array surging with a vortex and stirring the surrounding spiritual energy appeared between the two ice platforms.
Shi Yu waited until the teleportation array stabilized before leaping inside. A dizzying sensation swept over her, and when her feet touched solid ground again, she was already outside the Xuexiao Spirit Node.
“Shi Yu.”
“Girl Yu!”
Shi Yu looked up and saw President Cui, President Song, and the others waiting there.
The group stepped forward. With a single glance, they could tell that Shi Yu’s aura was now that of a Foundation Establishment cultivator, devoid of any instability, proving that her seclusion in the spirit node had yielded results. Joy washed over their faces.
Shi Yu bowed slightly to them, then turned to President Cui with a smile. “The Xuexiao Spirit Node is truly extraordinary. Thank you, President, for allowing me to enter and cultivate in seclusion.”
President Cui nodded slightly. “You are now a member of our Array Association as well. There is no need for such formality.”
Shi Yu smiled softly.
President Song glanced at her from the side and chuckled. “Little Yu'er, reveal your Dao Platform so I can take a look.”
He knew better than anyone how solid Shi Yu’s foundation was, and he was full of confidence in her, suspecting that Earthly Dao Foundation Establishment was her absolute minimum baseline. Furthermore, Fang Sheng had previously gifted her a wisp of Heavenly Dao aura. With that aura hovering over her yellow sprout, if luck favored her, Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment was not out of the question...
Now, it all depended on Shi Yu displaying her Dao Platform to reveal the answer.
Only... what was the meaning behind the expression on this girl's face?
Shi Yu looked hesitant, as if pondering how to put it into words. President Song immediately sensed something amiss and took two steps closer. “What's wrong?”
Shi Yu opened her mouth, shook her head, and said helplessly, “President, see for yourself.”
As her words fell, she opened both palms and activated her dantian, causing a Dao Platform shimmering with dim, hazy light to slowly emerge above her palms.
The eyes of those nearby gathered upon it. When they clearly saw that this Dao Platform was entirely colorless and turbid, every face filled with astonishment.
“Lowest grade of Mortal Dao?!” Master Ji’s eyes widened in shock.
President Cui’s brow furrowed slightly as he walked up to Shi Yu and pressed two fingers to her wrist. Shi Yu let his spiritual energy probe into her meridians without resisting.
“Something isn't right.” President Cui probed for a good while before withdrawing his fingers. “Her meridians are sturdy, her spiritual energy is dense, and her aura is deep and lasting. This is by no means the sign of the lowest grade of Mortal Dao Foundation Establishment.”
President Song also frowned and probed her as well. Soon after, his brow loosened slightly as he fell into silent thought.
“If that's the case, why is her Dao Platform colorless?” Master Ji paced around Shi Yu, thoroughly bewildered.
President Song pondered for a long while without reaching a conclusion, finally saying, “Perhaps some unexpected anomaly occurred during her Foundation Establishment. But judging from Girl Yu’s current aura and divine sense, this is indeed not what Mortal Dao Foundation Establishment should look like; she is at least at the level of Earthly Dao Foundation Establishment.”
“I will check some ancient texts later to see if there is any explanation.”
Shi Yu nodded. “At any rate, I have already established my foundation, so there is no need to dwell on the rest.”
