Chapter 23 | After Physical Therapy, All the Monsters Turned into Goddesses

The holy white light came as quickly as it faded.

When the last sliver of radiance merged into that petite body, the entire clinic backyard fell back into a deathly silence.

In the air, only the thick, cloying scent of blood remained, along with the buzzing of the Rusty Saw of Redemption.

Elizabeth was petrified.

Her magnificent red eyes were wide and round, and her ruby lips were slightly parted, enough to fit an egg inside.

What had she just seen?

An S-rank magic beast that had lived for at least five hundred years, the absolute overlord of the Blackthorn Forest, the Twin-Headed Demon Wolf, Wolf...

Had been forcibly sawn through one of its heads by that man with a chainsaw that looked like a logging tool.

And then...

Then it had turned into a naked, seemingly defenseless beast girl?!

What kind of absurdly extreme supernatural phenomenon was this?

A species transformation?

A bloodline awakening?

Or perhaps...

This man named Victor wasn't a doctor at all!

He was actually an ancient god proficient in 'flesh transformation'! Only an ancient god could play with life forms so recklessly!

"Director, we have another sister."

Compared to Elizabeth's shock, Alice's ability to accept the situation was clearly much stronger.

She curiously circled the unconscious beast girl twice, even reaching out a finger to poke the pair of furry, slightly twitching silver wolf ears on top of the girl's head.

"The texture is quite good."

She gave a concise evaluation.

"I just wonder if they'll grow back after being snipped off."

Victor ignored these two 'employees' who had already begun to doubt their reality.

He was crouching beside the girl, examining this fresh God-Chosen with extremely professional, almost fanatical eyes.

Her skin was delicate, and her muscle lines were smooth and full of explosive power. Though she looked petite, the energy contained within her body was even purer than that of the giant wolf from before.

"Perfect."

Victor muttered to himself.

"Resecting the 'younger brother' (the black wolf head) who represented 'mania' and 'chaos,' while retaining the 'older brother' (the white wolf head) who represented 'reason' and 'instinct,' is equivalent to a precise 'mental purification.'"

"Although her physical size has decreased, her energy utilization efficiency has increased several times over. This is simply a miracle of medicine and evolutionary science!"

He reached out and gently stroked the newly healed scar on the girl's neck.

The originally hideous and terrifying severed neck wound had now become a faint pink mark, looking like a peculiar tattoo.

"Director..."

Elizabeth finally snapped out of her shock. She looked at Victor's face, which was written over with 'academic fanaticism,' and her voice was a bit dry.

"She... what exactly is she?"

"A patient, of course,"

Victor answered as if it were a matter of course.

"A patient who has just completed a craniocerebral separation surgery, currently has stable vital signs, but is in urgent need of blood transfusion and nutritional supplementation."

He turned his head to look at Elizabeth, revealing a kind smile.

"Ms. Elizabeth, don't just stand there."

"Please contribute a little of your 'anesthetic'... oh no, I mean 'blood plasma.' This new patient seems to be anemic; look how pale her face is."

Elizabeth's mouth twitched.

'Is my blood just a universal blood bank for you?!'

But seeing Victor's unquestionable gaze, she still obediently extended her wrist.

A ball of crimson blood, containing immense life energy, emerged out of thin air and slowly floated toward the unconscious girl.

The blood ball merged into the girl's lips and seeped in instantly.

Her originally paper-pale face visibly regained a hint of rosiness.

"Mmm..."

A soft groan escaped her.

The girl's long silver eyelashes fluttered for a moment, and she slowly opened her eyes.

What kind of eyes were those?

They were like a pool of clear lake water, or like a sky that had just been washed by rain.

Pure, translucent, without a single trace of impurity.

But if one looked closely, they would find that deep within those eyes, there was nothing.

Gone was the cunning and coldness of the previous white wolf head, and gone was the madness and bloodlust of the black wolf head.

All that remained was a sort of...

Clear-eyed stupidity.

"Where... am I?"

The girl sat up in a daze, looked at her slender arms, and then touched the pair of furry ears on her head. Her eyes were full of confusion.

She seemed to have... forgotten many things.

【Ding!】

【Congratulations to the host! You have triggered a surgical critical hit again!】

【The patient "Twin-Headed Demon Wolf" has completed a life-form leap.】

【Obtained God-Chosen No. 3 — Silver Moon Wolf Princess Mia (Mia)】

The system panel popped up again.

【Name: Mia】

【Race: high beastman / Silver Moon Wolf Princess】

【Identity: Clinic Security Captain (Reserve)】

【Loyalty: MAX (Absolute Obedience)】

【Abilities: supersonic movement, Moonlight Blessing, Berserk (locked).】

【Status: low intelligence (sequelae of Redundant Brain Tissue Resection).】

"Low intelligence?"

Victor looked at the glaring remark on the panel and fell into deep thought.

"Could it be... I cut off the wrong head?"

"That shouldn't be right; clearly the black head looked stupider..."

"Whatever, a lower IQ is fine. She'll be obedient and less likely to rebel."

Victor quickly accepted this setting.

After all, he wanted a security guard who could fight and take hits, not a philosopher he needed to discuss theory with.

"You're awake?"

Victor tried to make his voice sound as gentle as possible to avoid scaring this newly 'factory-issued' employee.

Mia looked up, her clear eyes turning toward Victor.

She saw the man.

A bloodstained lab coat, holding a roaring chainsaw in his hand (Victor had forgotten to turn it off).

His face was still splattered with her own blood.

Logically, this should have been a terrifying sight for her.

But for some reason...

Deep in her soul, an indescribable sense of closeness and dependency surged like a tide.

It was this man.

It was him who used that scary-looking saw to cut off that annoying, quarreling voice that had always been in her head.

It was him who had liberated her from endless pain and mania.

He was...

"Master?"

Mia tilted her head and called out tentatively.

Her voice was clear and pleasant, carrying a hint of lingering childishness, but it also sounded slightly hoarse because she had just woken up.

Victor paused for a moment. "No, call me Director."

"Dir... ector?"

Mia repeated, seemingly trying to understand the meaning of the word.

Looking at her dazed and cute appearance, Victor's heart softened.

He reached out, wanting to pat the pair of wolf ears on her head that looked like they would feel great to the touch, just like one would pat a puppy.

The moment his hand was about to touch Mia.

Mia's body instinctively tensed up, and a low whimper escaped her throat—a warning used by beasts when they feel threatened.

But very quickly...

When she smelled the scent on Victor's hand, a mix of blood, disinfectant, and her own aura.

That vigilance instantly dissipated.

In its place was a heartfelt admiration and submissiveness.

Not only did she not move away.

Instead, she proactively and cautiously leaned her head closer, using those furry ears to gently rub against Victor's palm.

It was itchy and soft.

"Whimper..."

She closed her eyes, letting out a comfortable purr from her throat, like a cat being scratched under the chin by its owner.

That invisible tail behind her must have been wagging frantically right now.

"..."

Watching this scene, Victor felt his heart nearly melt from the cuteness.

Adorable.

Simply too adorable.

How was this an S-rank magic beast? This was clearly a loyal and clingy big puppy!

A yandere loli nurse.

An aloof onee-san financial manager.

And now, a dazed, loyal dog security guard.

The configuration of this clinic... seemed to be getting stranger and stranger.

"Alright, alright, stop rubbing."

Victor helplessly withdrew his hand.

He pointed to the spare lab coat Elizabeth was carrying.

"Put some clothes on first. Although there are no outsiders here, you still need to pay attention to medical etiquette."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes and begrudgingly threw her spare uniform (another black-stocking nurse outfit) over.

Mia clumsily put on the clothes.

That uniform, which was tight and sexy on Elizabeth, looked valiant and spirited on Mia's petite yet explosive body, giving off a different kind of charm.
