With a single thought from Zhao Jin, the corpses of the supernatural beings who died in battle in Xichang City and the ordinary people caught in the crossfire all vanished.
Their bodies reappeared inside Zhao Jin’s Conscious Space.
‘Quite a few people died. If I leave this many corpses alone, they’ll probably spawn a lot of Specters and Evil Spirits,’ Zhao Jin thought as he looked at the more than two million bodies inside his Conscious Space.
Although a small portion of the population had fled Xichang before the battle began, the vast majority had chosen to hide in shelters, underground supermarkets, or parking garages.
Among the deceased, a small portion had been killed by the collateral damage of the battle or by Specters and Evil Spirits. However, the vast majority had been wiped out by the collateral damage when the King of Specters made its move.
‘I want my existence to have the ability to increase the birth rate of living creatures in this world. Set it at one million strands of Destiny Force.’
‘Strengthen my Slash ability, set the limit to nine hundred thousand strands of Destiny Force!’ Zhao Jin chanted rapidly in his mind.
If things continued like this, the birth rate of the population wouldn’t be able to keep up with the speed at which these supernatural beings were causing havoc. He had already invested one hundred thousand strands into Slash before, so adding nine hundred thousand would bring it to exactly one million.
With Zhao Jin’s thought, the number of his Destiny Force blurred momentarily.
Destiny Force: 27.92 million strands!
Two pieces of information appeared in his mind.
Destiny’s Gestation: Within your world, the pregnancy rate of living creatures is increased by one thousand percent. The rate of stillbirths and miscarriages is drastically reduced, and gestation time is shortened! (During childbirth, there is an extremely small chance of giving birth to a naturally supernatural offspring!)
Slash: Nothing is uncuttable! (Can cut through rule-based conceptual entities!)
Seeing both abilities undergo a qualitative change at the one-million mark, a peculiar smile appeared on Zhao Jin’s face. ‘A one-thousand percent increase... does that mean ten babies in one go?’
Furthermore, under this ability, children born had a chance of being naturally supernatural. If this ability were to be taken on its own, he could easily pass off as a god of fertility.
As for Slash, Zhao Jin couldn’t find a target to practice on yet. He only upgraded it because he had plenty of Destiny Force and felt like strengthening it.
‘Next, I should find a place to deal with all these corpses.’ Zhao Jin glanced at the bodies inside his Conscious Space.
They were already dead anyway, and their Destiny Force had already been fed back to him. Their physical bodies might as well be recycled.
Zhao Jin’s figure vanished along with his sofa. Outside, a grey sofa materialized right above the Lord of Evil’s head. Zhao Jin lay back on it and said, “Let’s go overseas for a spin to get some fresh air.”
“Understood!” The Lord of Evil flapped its wings. Since Zhao Jin hadn’t specified a destination, it simply flew off in a random direction.
An hour later.
Outside Xichang City, after confirming that the Earth Mother and that terrifying greyish-white hand had completely vanished, the rumble of engines echoed.
Military trucks packed with soldiers drove into the city, followed by tanks and armored vehicles.
In the sky, helicopters and fighter jets circled overhead.
“Time is of the essence! We must clear the debris over the major shelters immediately!” a middle-aged man with the rank of Major General roared.
These soldiers had been mobilized beforehand for the cleanup operation, numbering around one hundred thousand. Furthermore, rescue teams and firefighters from all over the country were currently rushing to the scene.
Next to the Major General, Li Xueming lit a cigarette and looked at the resting members of the Special Bureau. “Anyone who can still move, follow the rescue teams inside. Clear out any remaining Specters and Evil Spirits in the city to ensure the safety of the rescue personnel.”
With that, he strode into the city. Behind him, Chu Jizhen and the others headed toward other locations.
Not far away, He Wenxi watched everyone enter before turning her gaze back to Xichang City.
Her expression remained blank. ‘The aura of death has suddenly vanished. The corpses are gone...’
She didn’t know who was responsible. Too many hidden powerhouses and factions had emerged in this battle.
None of them had ever been recorded in official intelligence.
Not far from her, half an hour after the soldiers and the Special Bureau entered, excavators and various other heavy machinery rolled into the city.
A collapsed underground parking garage was excavated.
A firefighter shone his flashlight inside. At that single glance, his expression changed dramatically. “Where did all the people go?!”
Blood and rubble were scattered everywhere below, but there wasn’t a single corpse or piece of flesh to be seen.
As one ruin after another was dug up, everyone in Xichang City discovered to their horror that all the corpses had vanished.
Meanwhile, the outcome of the Battle of Xichang had already reached the hands of the various factions that had been closely monitoring the situation.
Goro Island, seaside villa.
All the key members under Tang Yongyun’s command had gathered.
“In the battle of Xichang, the Liu family suffered heavy losses, and all of their core members have gone missing. The Church of the Earth Mother and the Special Bureau also sustained severe casualties. There is no real winner in this battle,” Jiang Nan said, standing in the living room with the intelligence report in hand.
In the lounge area, Tang Yongyun, dressed in a grey suit and wearing gold-rimmed glasses, listened quietly.
Beside him were Buck, Bai Yuwen, and a pair of identical twin sisters dressed in identical white outfits. One wore her hair in a ponytail, while the other had her hair styled in braids draped over both shoulders.
Buck crossed his arms. “So the Liu family is finished? Well, given their style of doing things, it’s only natural they’d get gang-piled.”
“To think such a powerful supernatural faction would fall. I thought the Liu family would always maintain their leading position in the world,” Bai Yuwen said with a solemn expression.
“By the way, was the Liu family really that strong? It’s a pity we couldn’t go join the fun,” Fang Qing, the older twin with the ponytail, asked curiously.
Beside her, the younger sister, Fang Shui, waved her phone. “Sis, according to the analyses I saw on the forum, the Liu family was indeed incredibly strong. Some people speculate that if it were just the Special Bureau alone, they might not even be able to beat the Liu family.”
Listening to everyone’s discussion, a strange look flashed in Tang Yongyun’s eyes. “They call this battle a joint crusade, but in reality, it was just the Church of the Earth Mother fighting the Liu family. Now that the Liu family has been eradicated in the Nanming Kingdom, who else can possibly stop the expansion of the Church of the Earth Mother?”
As for the Special Bureau, he did not believe this newly established organization could handle the Church of the Earth Mother.
Even though the Chief’s strength was rumored to be unknown, he still didn’t think the man stood a chance against the Church of the Earth Mother.
“The Church of the Earth Mother... Yongyun, are you saying that cult is about to rise within the Nanming Kingdom?” a resonant, powerful voice echoed from the doorway.
The rest of the people in the living room turned to look, only to see a four-armed old man with his eyes covered, accompanied by a chimpanzee.
In the Western Continent, Orca City, the second-largest city of the Coalition, was also the headquarters of the Demon Hunting Association.
Within a massive grey fortress occupying a vast area on the west side of the city.
All the Demon Hunting Association supernatural beings in Orca City had gathered in the main hall. As they stared at the live photos of Xichang City and the dense blocks of text flashing across the screen, a heavy silence fell over the room.
“These Nanming people are terrifying. They completely laid waste to a city that ranks among the top in the world. Thank goodness this battle didn’t happen within our Coalition,” a Black man couldn’t help but speak up, breaking the silence.
Opposite him, an elderly white man looked toward a young man with long golden hair sitting in the seat of honor. “President Gerard, even the Liu family has fallen. If the Church of the Earth Mother expands into our Coalition, how should we respond?”
Hearing this, Juan Gerard rubbed his temples in frustration. “What else can we do? After this battle, the Church of the Earth Mother has once again demonstrated its power to the world. If they choose to expand, we won’t be able to stop them.”
Although the old human elites still stood at the forefront of the Coalition, the emergence of the supernatural was already beginning to overshadow the ordinary wealthy and powerful.
Before long, the true masters of the Coalition would inevitably be the supernatural beings.
“Sigh, we haven’t even dealt with the Specters within our own borders, and now events in the Nanming Kingdom might actually affect the Coalition,” someone couldn’t help but sigh.
The number of Specters and Evil Spirits within the Coalition was growing rapidly, and some small villages and towns had already been completely devoured.
If they hadn’t suppressed the news, the entire Coalition would have been thrown into a state of panic.
Hearing this, everyone’s expressions turned grim.
The issue with the Specters was already on the verge of crushing them, and now there was a potential threat from the Earth Mother looming over them. They truly couldn’t take much more.
“Don't worry too much. The Church of the Earth Mother hasn't even fully taken over the Nanming Kingdom yet. Let's focus on our own jobs first. It's time to head out and purge some Specters,” Gerard said casually as he stood up.
Without waiting for a response, he ignored the crowd and walked deeper into the fortress. Upon reaching a basement, he headed straight inside.
There was no one here, and the ambient light gradually dimmed.
A strange aura began to permeate the air.
After making several turns through the dark basement, Gerard arrived in a spacious room shrouded in pitch-black darkness.
A foul, rancid stench filled the entire room.
Staring into the darkness, Gerard’s expression turned grim. “The Liu family of the Nanming Kingdom has been defeated. The Church of the Earth Mother is highly likely to expand into the Western Continent. That is our territory.”
“Baa!” A low, guttural bleat of a sheep suddenly echoed right beside Gerard’s ear.
The rancid stench grew so thick it made him want to vomit.
In the darkness before Gerard, a figure several meters tall materialized.
A shrill voice rasped from the figure. “The Coalition is my territory. I will not allow any other faction to interfere, not even the Church of the Earth Mother!”
As the voice spoke, Gerard furrowed his brows. “Even the Liu family has fallen. We still need to be cautious.”
“That is none of your concern. I am hungry. Continue driving those Specters to devour humans. I need fear. As long as I have enough fear, I can help you block the Church of the Earth Mother, allowing you to remain in your high-and-mighty position as the President of the Demon Hunting Association!” the shrill voice continued.
Hearing this, Gerard felt a slight sense of relief regarding the threat of the Church of the Earth Mother.
He was not a supernatural being himself; he had only been able to become the President of the Demon Hunting Association because of this entity’s backing.
Looking at the dark figure, Gerard said, “I understand. However, you should give me more Fear Crystals. There have been quite a few rogue supernatural beings causing trouble lately. We must show them who the true boss of the Coalition is.”
Clang! Clang!
Two black crystals dropped to the ground. From the darkness, the shrill voice echoed, “Go. This time, I want fifty thousand people. They must die in absolute terror!”
A smile spread across Gerard’s face as he picked up the Fear Crystals. “Rest assured, it’s just fifty thousand people. The Coalition is vast. Once it’s done, we can just blame it on the Specters.”
