Time passed in the midst of urgent preparations.
The silver moon gradually climbed higher in the sky. A chilly aura washed over everyone's necks; without needing a reminder, they all understood...
—It was time to fight!
With the fall of night, the monsters had begun their riot! Every visible monster rushed toward them from all directions!
Zombies roared as they charged, Skeletons made the sound of clashing bones as they walked, and various Object-types stepped forward...
However, there were significantly fewer Tacet Discords among them.
“Why does it feel like there are so many fewer Tacet Discords today?” atop the wall, a tall guy from the cafeteria side muttered to his companion in confusion.
“Because they were cleared out this morning,” his companion replied.
Both the supermarket group and the cafeteria team had gone out to clear Tacet Discords to obtain Echoes, so naturally, there were fewer monsters at night.
“Then maybe things will be a bit easier today?” The tall guy's expression relaxed slightly, seemingly relieved by the prospect.
“Did you not listen to anything Sister Hui said?”
His companion rolled his eyes, exasperated, and reminded him: “In Wuthering Waves, a new day begins at four in the morning.”
“—Meaning, a massive wave of monsters will spawn later.”

Most monsters with a spawning mechanism could be replicated in reality, provided that mechanism wasn't too outrageous.
These spawnable—or rather, mass-producible—creatures were the primary source of the monsters' military strength in the long run.
And this was exactly why they couldn't stay here forever.
This location was excellent for the earliest stage of development. It offered the “Echoes,” which were quite decent Dead-binding items, and the “Minecraft tools” suitable for building up strength.
But while the Object-types could be hunted to extinction, the Tacet Discords and Minecraft monsters would respawn repeatedly.
When the monsters eventually became so strong that they couldn't be cleared out every morning, the survivors would have to face additional enemy forces.
Furthermore, because monsters would spawn throughout the night in this area, there was essentially no “rest time.”
Clearing monsters in the morning and defending the walls at night—after a few days of this, even Dead-binders wouldn't be able to hold out without sleep.
Therefore, they had to relocate to a better stronghold.

Meanwhile, Mo Shao was currently—strolling along the wall with Little Ka. Now that she had a team, was she really expected to do the manual labor herself?
“After four o'clock, you should farm some Echoes too, Little Ka,” Mo Shao reminded her, leaning forward against the wall's railing.
Earlier, when they were distributing Dead-bindings to everyone, Little Ka didn't get any Echoes. She had only used some materials to slightly boost her stats.
She now already knew that flashy set of basic attacks full of special effects, as well as her skills and her “transformation” ultimate.
—She hadn't known them originally, as she didn't have those memories, but after allocating some points, she quickly became proficient.
In terms of pure combat power, if they fought head-on, Mo Shao wouldn't even be able to beat her—of course, Mo Shao could still use the Snake Talisman to take her out by surprise.
Such was the overwhelming early-game advantage of an Innate Transformer, especially one following the correct path of development.
For an Acquired Transformer like Mo Shao, whose path was unconventional, her rate of growth simply couldn't compare to theirs.
However, this path also gave her something else—a completely unaffected sense of self, which would offer many benefits in the later stages.

Of course, given Little Ka’s current situation, she wasn't exactly at a level where she could instantly kill everything—her Energy Level was still too low.
In other words, her base stats and “mana bar” weren't great—which was why Mo Shao needed to arrange Echoes for her to boost those numbers.
Since she herself was the Resonator “Katicia,” she didn't even need to use Dead-binding; she could equip Echoes directly.
However, there were still some differences.
Little Ka couldn't be like an Echo Dead-binder, who could store an unlimited number of Echoes from the same set as long as their body could withstand it.
She only had five slots, and the total cost couldn't exceed the game's limit—which was 12-cost.
Furthermore, only the Echo placed in the “primary” slot could be used through her summoning or transformation abilities.
—After all, that was how characters in the game worked.
At least in the early to mid-stages of the apocalypse, she could only do so much—but it would be different later on...

While there were restrictions, there were also benefits.
For example, Little Ka didn't need to worry about her physical constitution; she could equip five Echoes immediately. She could even handle absorbing high-cost 4-cost Echoes without issue.
As for substats, she didn't need to be picky—stacking everything into Health would do. The reason?
In the early stages, most Dead-binders didn't have much “transcendent energy” in their bodies. Even those who did had very little.
This issue wouldn't be significantly alleviated until the next stage—when an Energy Core was formed within the body.
Until then, Dead-binders mostly used their own physical stamina to power their abilities.
And an increase in Health naturally increased stamina!
Little Ka’s base stats were more than enough for the early game, so it was only natural to prioritize her health and mana bars first!
“Mhm! I’ll do whatever you say!” After Mo Shao finished her analysis, Little Ka nodded in total agreement.
Her tone was incredibly trusting—so trusting it was almost as if she’d abandoned her own judgment entirely. She would listen to whatever Mo Shao said.
Clearly, Mo Shao's consistently “correct” actions and her “kind” image had been thoroughly established in Little Ka's mind.
—Whisking her away was only a matter of time!

The hours before four in the morning were truly quite “uneventful.”
With a fully armed team and a well-fortified wall—and without high-mobility monsters like Tacet Discords trying to break through...
If they were still running themselves ragged under these conditions, then all their preparations would have been for nothing!
The only thing they needed to worry about was picking off enemy Creepers and various ranged monsters.
The archers could handle that problem easily. The only minor annoyance was having to occasionally send people down to collect drops.
—Mainly to pick up the arrows dropped by the Skeletons; otherwise, they really wouldn't have enough arrows. This was their primary method of replenishing ammunition.
Fortunately, things were gradually improving in that regard—their solution was fishing, specifically trying to fish up an Infinity bow.
Since they had infinite water, it was no problem at all to create a massive pool. After that, it was just a matter of fishing relentlessly.
Since the monster assault hadn't reached its peak yet, anyone who didn't have an immediate job to do came over to fish.
With so many people working together, they quickly pulled up several Infinity bows. After all, the positive feedback from fishing was enormous.
As long as someone fished up a rod with the Lure or Luck of the Sea enchantments, the speed at which they obtained good items would increase dramatically.
However, because of this, they ended up with a massive surplus of fish and random junk... one could only say that's how Minecraft is.
While its combat potential might not hold up in the long run (since everyone wasn't actually Steve and mods were extremely rare),
—its ability to provide resources was truly insane!
