During the rest period, Mo Shao naturally took a nap.
Since she would likely be traveling for three consecutive days afterward, her time for sleep and rest would be minimal. She had to catch up on it now.
However, considering her own safety, she simply made up an excuse, saying, “I’m going out for a walk on my own.”
Then, with the Snake Talisman active, she found a secluded, uninhabited place to sleep—the Snake Talisman remained active even while she slept.
After all, it was better to be safe than sorry. Caution never hurt anyone.
Setting an alarm on her phone, Mo Shao woke up right on time. As for where the phone got its power—it was from Redstone.
This stuff was practically like an infinite power source. After Live-binding it, she just threw her phone inside, and it was fully charged in a short while.
Of course, it wasn't actually a true infinite power source in reality—at least, the output efficiency of this thing was lacking.
It could support the use of small items, but trying to charge larger devices would take until the end of time.
However, it wasn't impossible to increase the power output efficiency by increasing the amount of Redstone used.
...
Before returning to the cafeteria, Mo Shao felt a bit confused because there was a noticeable change in the headcount. “How are there so few people?” she asked Little Ka, who was sitting on the wall.
“They all went to take hot showers,” Little Ka replied without hesitation, using a comb to smooth out her hair. “Everyone is covered in blood and filth after the battle, and they probably won't be able to take a hot shower for a long time after this.”
“I see,” Mo Shao said, realization dawning. It made sense.
Being covered in blood was indeed uncomfortable, and such filth could easily attract certain types of monsters—like those of the zombie variety.
Not to mention they were in Guangdong Province, where the environment was hot and humid; taking multiple showers a day was common. A hot shower was incredibly helpful for both mental recovery and physical rejuvenation.
And the school still had basic water and heat supplies—after all, to save money, they had installed several solar water heaters on the roof back then.
In reality, most of the time it was just a massive iron tank on the roof that naturally heated up after a day in the sun.
Of course, the prerequisite for enjoying this was that you had to shower early in the evening.
Once they left the school, there would be no such luxury. It was hard to say if they would even be able to get a hot shower in Seven Hills City, as there were simply too many people there.
Cold showers, however, were easy to come by. With infinite water, there was no shortage of it. It was just the hot water they would have to find a way to manage themselves.
And they would have to figure out things like showerheads... It was quite a hassle. Luckily, she didn't need to shower.
A pulse of mana radiated outward from the inside of her body, followed by a vibration that instantly cleaned all the grime off the surface of her clothes.
...
“Sister Hui, you didn't take a shower?” Little Ka frowned slightly after taking a look at Mo Shao's condition.
“No,” Mo Shao shook her head and explained, “I just use energy to remove the dirt. You can learn how to do it too.”
“Uh...” Little Ka was speechless. She would give Mo Shao’s words a 95 out of 100, because she felt more than a little exasperated.
“...I’ll definitely learn that,” Little Ka agreed after a short pause, but then she changed the subject. “But I still think it would be better for you to take a bath, Sister Hui.”
“Hmm? Why?” Mo Shao tilted her head in confusion.
“What do you mean 'why'? A girl has to care about being clean!” Little Ka cried out, waving her arms and gesticulating wildly.
“But this is actually much cleaner than when you all shower,” Mo Shao responded very seriously. Showering still left some grime in the corners, whereas her method left absolutely nothing behind.
“...That's not the point—it’s the sense of ritual! The ritual!” Little Ka paced in silence for a moment, racking her long-dormant brain before finally speaking as if she had a profound point. “You’re only clean on the outside; your heart isn't clean!”
“Hmm... My inside is actually quite clean too?” Mo Shao looked down at the Soul Gem nestled between her breasts—it was as clean as new.
“You weren't... just using some kind of internal inspection, were you?” Little Ka quickly realized what Mo Shao had just done.
“Something like that,” Mo Shao nodded. Looking at her Soul Gem was looking at her soul, so it counted as a form of "inner peering."
“How are you so, so—so NPC-like?” Little Ka said, puffing out her cheeks in annoyance. “How can you not have any girly heart at all?”
“Stated that way, it does seem like there's no problem...”
...
After a brief hesitation, Mo Shao chose not to tell the truth at this moment; the time and place weren't right. She did intend to talk about it—about her original gender.
After all, with the existence of super-large Phantom Events like the Skyscreen in the later stages, her current performance would inevitably lead to exposure.
Rather than keeping it a secret until the day it was revealed, it was better to come clean early. At least she would come off as upright and honest.
In the information revealed by those Skyscreens in her past life, many people's relationships had plummeted or they had even become enemies because of such concealment. The feeling of being deceived was truly unpleasant.
Of course, most of them reconciled after a period of drama. After all, the feelings built up over so much time spent together were hard to forget.
However, after Mo Shao had watched several of these melodramas, combined with her lifelong way of doing things and her motorcycle mindset from her past life, she had reached a conclusion.
If she just came clean early, there wouldn't be all that subsequent crap! Don't let a relationship that shouldn't start begin in the first place!
If they truly loved each other, it wouldn't matter that she had transformed; the original world had plenty of different gender combinations too!
...
Therefore, Mo Shao intended to tell Little Ka the truth later, she just had to wait for the right moment. As for her current answer...
“My thinking really is quite NPC-like,” she nodded seriously.
When it came to pursuing interests or planning goals, she was fine, but once it came to these daily life aspects... what kind of daily life did you expect a motorcycle to have?
Even in the distant days when she was still a security guard... daily life was nothing more than slacking off. Her social life had been almost zero, and she had spent all day glued to that phone. And the days before that... she couldn't quite remember.
The years she spent as a motorcycle had already occupied more than half of her life.
So now, Mo Shao naturally thought according to the mindset she was most familiar with—the one that had lasted the longest.
When facing someone you could trust, if there was a mistake, just admit it. There was no need to avoid it for the sake of face. Unless it was a catastrophic mistake that couldn't be undone without secrecy, there was no need to hide minor ones.
Generally speaking, not admitting a mistake only allowed misunderstandings to grow and conflicts to multiply—eventually escalating out of control.
This was the final conclusion she had drawn using her mechanical motorcycle logic after observing many things in her past life.
However, then again... given that Mo Shao had survived for decades in the apocalyptic wilderness, her basis for thinking was entirely based on the contents of the Skyscreen's Phantom events. There were always various issues between practice and theory, and perhaps in the future, she would suffer some small losses because of this.
