“Ahem.”
Sophie coughed twice.
“I really do want to become friends with you, Miaoyue.”
Miaoyue’s brow twitched instantly.
“That pause just now... what followed definitely wasn't something meant for ordinary friends, was it?”
“We'd be best friends,” Sophie emphasized. “The kind of best friends that are definitely dangerous!”
“Just the kind of best friends who can hold hands, go shopping, bathe together, and kiss.”
“Where is the ‘just’ in that?!”
Must I really have a third person in my life, a third hickey, and be a greedy villain?
Cheating or whatever... for a pure love warrior, that was absolutely forbidden!
Miaoyue blushed and took a half-step back, saying decisively, “In any case, I certainly can't. I am a Goddess, after all...”
“I see.” Sophie sighed with regret.
She didn't seem particularly devastated, though. She casually shook open the commission paper and looked down to flip through it.
On the paper, the King of Azure Sky’s handwriting was more beautiful than she had imagined. The words Border Mining Town Anomaly Cleanup Commission were written with extreme precision, and below them was a dense, long list of permit clauses, mission objectives, patrol records, and the stamp of the Royal Mining Seal.
Royal Mining Permit.
Mineral Sale Quota.
Mine Transport Transit Permit.
Silverware Export Permit.
Discord Route Royal Trade Permit...
There were also many other messy permits—wait, why was there even a Slave Trade Permit?
Sophie quickly flipped through the document, finally discovering that all these permits were merely attachments to a prerequisite task: clearing an anomaly in a border mining town.
Where did all these come from?
Little Yue didn't hold a Forbidden Spell to someone's head to get them to stamp these, did she?
She had to admit.
This was a massive help.
And it bore the King's seal.
Sophie turned to the last page, her fingertip lightly tapping the Royal Mining Seal.
Has Little Yue really become mature enough? Is she capable of handling things on her own now? But from our recent interactions, it doesn't seem like it. And holding a Forbidden Spell to someone's forehead isn't really her style either.
She couldn't figure it out.
Regardless, it was a huge help.
However, as far as Sophie knew, these border towns weren't exactly close. If they were to actually go, the journey, the carriage, the companions, and the subsequent trade route setup would all have to be recalculated. It wasn't something that could instantly manifest gold coins just by holding a few permits.
“Praise me.” Miaoyue didn't wait for Sophie’s spontaneous compliment and immediately tilted her chin up.
The mysterious glory-seeker couldn't even wait for her to finish reading.
Sophie noted the address and looked up at Miaoyue. Seeing those purple eyes sparkling in anticipation, she had no choice but to nod sincerely. “You are truly amazing, my Goddess.”
“Ha! That goes without saying.” Miaoyue said triumphantly. “My Saintess, I command you to present dessert immediately as a reward for the Goddess’s effective service!”
Didn't she just finish the pudding...
Sophie glanced at the caramel crumbs still lingering at the corner of Miaoyue's mouth but refrained from saying it aloud. She simply nodded to meet her expectations.
“Yes, I have some,” Sophie said. “And it’s a new item that you haven't tasted yet, Goddess.”
“My Saintess really does understand me.” Miaoyue’s eyes lit up. The pure love crisis from a moment ago was instantly halved by the mention of dessert. “Quickly, bring it out so I can sample it properly.”
“But, Goddess, there’s one more thing... about that topic just now...”
“Hasn't that topic already passed?” Miaoyue immediately looked at Sophie with suspicion.
This little Saintess was quite handsy and always trying to flirt with her, but Miaoyue was a pure love warrior; she would only ever love her Teacher.
If the little Saintess continued to be persistent, it would be quite annoying. They were actually getting along quite well, and Miaoyue didn't want this dessert-making Saintess to become unlikable in the blink of an eye.
That resolve to never let go for life bit... it really wouldn't work with anyone else. If you have to blame someone, blame yourself for being born five hundred years too late.
No one could replace that person’s position in her heart.
If only Teacher had said those words to me.
Teacher...
Miaoyue’s shoulders slumped slightly, and the light in her eyes softened. Sophie had no choice but to cough a few more times to pull the Moon Goddess back before she fell too deep into her memories.
“Ahem. It has indeed passed.” Sophie closed the commission paper and said sincerely, “In that case, why don't we both take a step back?”
“What are you planning now?”
“Didn't you want to teach me about romance and have me take you as my teacher?” Sophie pressed the commission paper onto the table, her finger resting on the Royal Mining Seal. Her expression was so serious it looked as if she were proposing a formal contract. “How about this: you become my romance teacher. You teach me, and you accompany me in my training.”
Miaoyue blinked.
“Training?”
“Yes.” Sophie nodded. “As you can see, my theoretical knowledge is very abundant, but my practical experience is clearly lacking. Without a teacher’s guidance, what if I make a fool of myself in front of Kaila later? You won't be able to ship us anymore.”
Miaoyue’s expression changed.
Kaila.
Make a fool of herself.
As soon as those words appeared, her sense of responsibility as a veteran shipping fan of four hundred years was instantly triggered.
“T-This...”
She hesitated.
Sophie immediately struck while the iron was hot.
“Romance can't rely purely on theory, can it?”
