After leaving the Mages' Association, Lynn called another carriage.
He still had quite a few things on his to-do list today.
First was to purchase a new set of armor.
Second was to organize the class information he had unlocked so far and choose a path to start pushing toward.
Lynn opened the 《Monster Identification Manual》.
【Class: None*】
Using his mind, he expanded the folded class information below—
【Current High-Compatibility Classes】 (Due to page limits in the monster encyclopedia, only eight are currently displayed)
Class 1: 【Voidwalker】
【Requirements】: Omitted
【Class Growth】: Upon class level up, Perception +3, Agility +3, Intelligence +2, Strength +1, Free Attribute Points +3.
...
Class 7: 【Spellthief Assassin】
Class 8: None
As the types of bloodline trees in the monster encyclopedia increased, the variety of classes with viewable information also grew.
In addition to the six classes that were already there last time, a new class had unlocked. Judging by the name, it seemed to be a "hidden class."
However, this hidden class was different from the 【Voidwalker】 or 【Celestial Fighter】.
Its growth was slightly higher than normal classes, but the difference wasn't huge.
Just as the rogue mentor Damon had said, there were countless classes in this world.
After learning relatively rare Skills, it was easy to condense a hidden class.
And these hidden classes weren't necessarily stronger than mainstream classes; they mostly just had their own unique class characteristics.
This newly acquired class, the 【Spellthief Assassin】, had unlocked after he formed the "Mage Slayer" Feat.
Lynn ignored the classes with relatively complex requirements and picked out the two classes that would currently be the easiest for him to condense:
the Mage-type 【Mage】,
and the Rogue-type 【Spellthief Assassin】.
The information for these two classes was retrieved separately, while the other classes faded from his view—
【Mage】
【Requirements】: Intelligence ≥ 10, Charisma ≥ 8, and Intelligence ≥ Charisma; any three spells trained to Lv.2 or higher, and any single spell trained to Lv.5 or higher.
【Class Growth】: Upon class level up, Intelligence +3, Charisma +1, Perception +1; every two levels grants an additional 3 Free Attribute Points.
【Spellthief Assassin】
【Requirements】: [Mage Slayer] Feat prerequisite, Perception ≥ 10, Intelligence ≥ 8, Agility ≥ 8; 「Stealth」 Lv.4, 「Steal」 Lv.3, 「Backstab」 Lv.3, and at least one spell at Lv.3 or higher.
【Class Growth】: Upon class level up, Perception +2, Agility +2, Intelligence +1; every three levels grants an additional 3 Free Attribute Points.
The growth of both classes was slightly higher than that of the 【Assassin】.
Moreover, Lynn already met all the attribute requirements. Only for the Mage did he need to increase his Intelligence slightly more so that it exceeded his Charisma.
For the rest, he only needed to practice his Skills to condense the class.
For 【Mage】, he only needed to train one spell to Lv.5.
While for 【Spellthief Assassin】, he only needed to practice 「Stealth」 and 「Steal」.
Having chosen the classes he was preparing to condense, his next steps were very straightforward—
accept commissions around the outer regions of the volcano to hunt monsters and harvest Obsidian Roses, while practicing his Skills during his adventures to push toward becoming a class-holder.
At the same time, he had to make good use of this window of opportunity before becoming an official class-holder.
Currently, after killing ranked monsters, thanks to the over-level kill multiplier that doubled his Bloodline Point rewards, Lynn could directly activate their bloodlines.
But once he condensed his first class, he wouldn't have this kind of opportunity anymore.
Therefore, before condensing his class, it would be best to clear out all the common Tier 1 monsters in the vicinity.
However, accomplishing this was no easy task.
This wasn't a role-playing game world where monsters would foolishly wait in designated level zones for you to hunt them.
Most monsters lived in mixed-level groups, and it was completely normal for Tier 1 monsters to move alongside Tier 2 or Tier 3 ones.
Besides, finding different types of monsters was also a hassle.
Not all monsters were as disastrously overpopulated as Goblins.
Just tracking down many of these monsters could take several days.
As Lynn was pondering his future plans, the carriage curtain was pulled aside,
and the driver's voice came through.
“We've arrived, Master Mage.”
The driver spoke with great respect, knowing Lynn had just come out of the Mages' Association.
“Thank you.”
Lynn handed over the fare and stepped down from the carriage. The first thing he saw was the sign for "Old Henry's Blacksmith Shop" right in front of him.
Entering the blacksmith shop, he found Old Henry standing by the counter, lecturing a young apprentice.
“You say you want to be an adventurer? You inherited my blacksmithing talent! This shop will be yours in the future, and you could easily live a safe, stable life. Yet now you're telling me blacksmithing is too boring and you want to be an adventurer?!”
Lynn, who had come to buy armor, was in no rush to interrupt. Instead, he pricked up his ears, listening to their conversation with great interest.
“Dad! I'm an adult now. I should have the right to choose my own path! Besides, I promise I won't take on any dangerous quests. I just want to experience the life of an adventurer, not run off on some reckless whim looking for a cheap thrill!”
“And if I become a class-holder, wouldn't that bring honor to your name as well?!”
From their conversation, the two were indeed father and son.
Judging by the age gap, the blacksmith Old Henry must have had his son late in life.
Old Henry was so angered by his son's words that he didn't know what to say, letting out only a cold snort.
“A class-holder... you? Hmph! I won't allow you to become an adventurer, and I certainly won't forge any gear for you!”
With that, Old Henry finally noticed the customer who had just entered the shop.
Old Henry spoke up in surprise, “It's you again. I didn't expect you to be a mage apprentice.”
Lynn looked down and realized he had forgotten to take off his Mages' Association membership badge, which was still pinned to his chest.
Upon realizing Lynn was a mage apprentice, Old Henry's expression visibly shifted.
He seemed to want to show more respect, but his slightly eccentric temper made it hard for him to swallow his pride.
While Old Henry was feeling awkward, his son suddenly cried out, “What? He's a Mage?!”
This instantly drew both Lynn's and Old Henry's attention.
Just as Old Henry was about to snap at him, Little Henry quickly explained,
“I... I saw this Master Mage at the Adventurers' Guild when they were holding the Rogue apprentice training! And back then, he even...”
Lynn hadn't expected to run into someone who recognized him here of all places.
It seemed that breaking Damon's weapon last time had indeed caused quite a stir among the Rogue apprentices.
He wondered if Mentor Damon would be mocked by other Rogue class-holders once he returned to Whiteport.
At any rate, here in Wingen Town, Damon seemed destined to be pinned to a pillar of shame.
As for Old Henry, while he was shocked that an adventurer wearing leather armor and wielding a shortsword was actually a Mage, he felt another surge of anger toward Little Henry.
This brat had actually snuck off to the Adventurers' Guild!
Old Henry barked,
“Shoo, shoo! Don't disrupt my business with the Master Mage!”
After shooing away Little Henry, who had wanted to strike up a conversation with Lynn, Old Henry addressed Lynn, an involuntary trace of respect creeping into his tone:
“What is it you're looking to buy today, Master Mage?”
