“You human traitor, you'd even save vampires, so why won't you save us?!”
“Those bat demons—”
Before the speaker could even finish shouting, Li Xiuman chopped his head off with a single swing.
The spurting blood and rolling head instantly silenced the remaining prisoners.
Li Xiuman, on the other hand, felt slightly better.
He could practically see the favorability of those vampires soaring after his single strike.
Saving this group of vampires had already earned him a high initial favorability.
Now, it had shot up even further.
Li Xiuman could already see a bunch of tools—so useful they seemed to exist only in dreams—going online.
Tonight, it seemed his luck was completely maxed out.
“I'm not some soft-hearted saint.”
“Let's go.”
Li Xiuman led the way while Rorona covered the vampires with Dark Magic, carefully making their way back toward where they had entered.
But it seemed their good luck for the day had run out.
Li Xiuman and his group ran headfirst into a squad of guards heading down to the basement.
Seeing a massive mass of walking shadow, the guard squad was visibly stunned.
They quickly realized something was wrong and drew their weapons.
But Li Xiuman was faster.
“Tier 2 Magic, Blinding Dust and Sand!”
A blue and yellow magic circle expanded, and quicksand mixed with howling winds swept toward the guard squad in front of them.
That's right, this was also a magic spell Li Xiuman had created himself.
“Rorona!”
“Dark Flame!”
Rorona quickly raised his hand, and pitch-black fire erupted from the darkness.
Li Xiuman continued to raise his wand.
“Tier 2 Magic, Molten Fireball!”
A massive fireball condensed in an instant, rolling along the ground toward the guard squad ahead.
But no matter how fast they were, they couldn't stop the guards from activating their magic items.
Instantly, a piercing alarm echoed throughout the entire estate and castle.
“No point in trying to hide anymore.”
“Charge through.”
Li Xiuman rushed forward, with Rorona leading the vampires, who hadn't yet recovered their vision, close behind.
Meanwhile, more and more guards were flooding down toward the basement.
Finally, they fought their way back to the tunnel they had dug earlier. With a swing of his wand, Li Xiuman smashed open the wall.
“Tier 2 Magic, Molten Fireball!”
Among the guards, a Mage raised his wand.
A molten fireball even larger than the one Li Xiuman had cast came hurtling toward them.
“Golem!”
The Heavy Armor Golem that had been standing by in the tunnel rushed out, raising its heavy shield to block.
The fireball slammed heavily into the Golem's shield.
The shield shattered instantly, and nearly half of the Golem's body melted into magma on the spot, yet it still stood firm and tall.
“Good job!”
Li Xiuman almost felt like awarding this Golem a Best Employee award.
With the Golem bringing up the rear to stall the enemy, Li Xiuman and his group squeezed into the tunnel and ran as fast as they could.
Once they escaped the tunnel, a little rock cat jumped headfirst into Li Xiuman's arms. Cradling the stone cat with one arm, Li Xiuman turned his wand with the other.
An earthy yellow magic circle expanded in an instant.
“Collapse!”
The long tunnel caved in instantly, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
Without a single moment of delay, Rorona cast his Dark Magic, wrapping everyone in shadows under the pitch-black night sky.
Cloaked in the shadows, Li Xiuman tossed the little rock cat out.
“Watch our backs. If anyone follows us, notify me immediately.”
Having received the command, the little cat landed steadily on a roof and vanished in the blink of an eye.
After taking several detours, there was still no response from the little cat.
Once he was sure they weren't being followed, Li Xiuman finally led the vampires back toward his house.
Once near his home, in an empty corner, he used Earth Magic to sink into the ground, heading toward the basement he had prepared in advance.
As he advanced with his Earth Magic, he carefully restored the soil behind him to its original state.
In this manner, they made it all the way back to his basement, and he finally let out a sigh of relief.
“You've worked hard, Master. Please get some rest.”
“I will handle my companions.”
Rorona spoke.
“Thank you.”
Returning to his room and lying on the bed, Li Xiuman finally had the time to check his unexpected gains.
A Memory Crystal and a Tier 6 Mage Mana Crystal.
These were the rewards dropped by that old geezer who had tried to possess him.
The Memory Crystal was a sharp, highly irregular polyhedron.
Each of its faces resembled a smooth screen, playing various scenes from a first-person perspective.
The Tier 6 Mage Mana Crystal, on the other hand, was a regular diamond-shaped crystal.
Four colors of mana flowed within it, looking incredibly dreamlike.
Both of these things seemed extremely badass.
However, he had no idea what they were used for.
I'll look them up in the library tomorrow.
Li Xiuman carefully stored the two crystals in a box and locked them inside a hidden cabinet.
Precious items had to be kept safe.
It was a shame this magical world didn't have any spatial storage spells, otherwise things would be much more convenient.
He slept until dawn.
By then, Li Xiuman's mana and Spirit had fully recovered.
He left his room.
The silver chunks in the vampires' eyes had been entirely removed, as had the nails in their bat wings.
“Master, my companions have decided to submit to you.”
Seeing Li Xiuman, Rorona bowed deeply.
“Is that so?”
Li Xiuman swept his gaze over the vampires.
The vampires quickly averted their eyes, bowing respectfully.
He had rescued a total of eight vampires this time.
In terms of appearance, it was a fifty-fifty split of males and females, and all of them were exceptionally good-looking.
However, with Rorona's case as a precedent, Li Xiuman truly didn't dare to assume their genders.
So, he resorted to distinguishing the genders of this group of vampires based on their chest sizes.
“In that case, you'll be in charge of them, Rorona.”
“Yes, Master.”
Rorona nodded.
“Wait, Master!”
Just as Li Xiuman was about to leave, a voice stopped him.
He turned around, looking toward the vampire who had spoken.
It was the vampire he had assumed was female based on her chest size, named Jetis.
“Master, could you bestow your True Name upon me and allow me to become your Kin?”
“I also wish to obtain power like Lord Rorona's to serve you.”
Jetis's words caused the other vampires to cast eager gazes as well.
“If your future contributions satisfy me,”
“I will bestow a True Name upon you.”
As Li Xiuman spoke, the vampires immediately became excited, looking brimming with motivation.
One must know that in this magical world, beings who possessed the ability to bestow True Names were extremely rare.
Obtaining a True Name could increase one's talent cap and rank cap based on the abilities of the True Name's master.
Li Xiuman had only obtained this ability by accident.
Originally, this wasn't an ability a being of his level should possess.
Even for Li Xiuman, naming someone was highly taxing, and his soul's strength could only support a single Kin.
But that didn't stop him from making empty promises.
After all, Rorona being bestowed a True Name by him was a solid, undeniable fact.
“Thank you for your mercy, Master!”
Jetis spoke, bowing respectfully.
“Thank you for your mercy, Master!”
The remaining vampires came to their senses too, hurriedly bowing along with her.
He felt like he had ultimately turned into the spitting image of an unscrupulous boss, and his skill at making empty promises had become exceptionally refined.
