“Tier 2 Magic, Rock Spear!”
Li Xiuman raised his wand. Inside the earthy-yellow magic circle, a colossal rock spear rapidly condensed with the grinding crackle of stone.
Meanwhile, the golem that had landed on the Fire Crocodile King's head did everything in its power to destroy the beast.
However, the Fire Crocodile King was a Lv. 30 Unique Variant; there was no way its defense could be breached by a mere temporary golem.
Shaking the golem off its head, the Fire Crocodile King crushed it in a single bite.
Then, with a whip of its tail, it splashed a massive wave of molten lava toward Li Xiuman in midair.
“No time to fuse them! I have to use Rock Spear!”
Li Xiuman was forced to swing his wand downward. Following the motion, the Rock Spear shattered the magic circle behind it, tore through the air, and pierced through the incoming lava as it flew straight toward the Fire Crocodile King.
Facing the sharp Rock Spear, the Fire Crocodile King dove headfirst back into the lava.
The Rock Spear plunged deep into the magma, striking nothing but empty liquid.
“How cheap!”
Li Xiuman couldn't help but curse.
Still, he was a noble, intelligent skeleton, so he hadn't actually expected the Fire Crocodile King's intelligence to be as high as his—holy shit!
A sudden whistle of rushing air cut through the cavern. A colossal Firewing Beast swept across the sky, and Li Xiuman narrowly dodged it by a hair's breadth.
Locking his gaze on the creature, he realized it was twice the size of a normal Firewing Beast, complete with a pair of prominent horns.
[Name] Firewing Beast King
[Level] Lv. 30
[Class] Monster
[Status] Healthy
[Description] The Unique Variant king of the Firewing Beasts. Possesses vastly superior strength and speed. Capable of extremely fast flight. Immune to low-tier fire magic, has high elemental resistance, and is extremely dangerous.
“A Firewing Beast King!”
Li Xiuman stared at the Firewing Beast King in disbelief.
What was going on? Had he borrowed his previous streak of good luck on credit? Did he really have to pay it all back with interest so soon?!
Facing two Unique Variants at once, how was he supposed to win?
The Firewing Beast King flapped its wings, and its body erupted in flames. Drawing a red afterimage across the air, it charged straight at Li Xiuman.
“Water Wall!”
Li Xiuman quickly raised a water magic barrier.
But the Firewing Beast King simply folded its wings, compressing the crimson flames on its body into a thin, tight-fitting film of fire.
It dove headfirst right through the Water Wall.
With a violent hiss, the Water Wall evaporated into nothingness. The beast's sharp beak lunged straight for Li Xiuman's chest.
He instantly brought his arms together, bracing his shield against the incoming beak.
A colossal force rippled through his body as his shield was instantly punctured.
Though his absurd Constitution and Strength allowed him to withstand the impact, he had no foothold in midair. He was thrown backward, desperately flapping his Bone Wings to slow his descent.
Yet right at that moment, the Fire Crocodile King waiting in the lava did not miss its chance to kick him while he was down.
A pillar of molten lava erupted from the depths, shooting toward the falling skeleton.
Above him, the Firewing Beast King's chest swelled as it spat a Molten Fireball down at him.
He was caught in a pincer attack from both above and below.
“Tier 2 Magic, Whirlwind!”
Li Xiuman gripped his wand and pointed it downward.
A green magic circle expanded like a thruster nozzle. A fierce gust of wind blasted out, forcefully pushing Li Xiuman's falling body back up.
A normal human would have likely been torn apart by such a violent, sudden stop.
But Li Xiuman's 39 points in Constitution were no joke.
Drawing his bone sword, he channeled Wind Magic into Flowing Wind and coated the blade with Water Magic. He delivered a flawlessly executed diagonal slash right at the incoming Molten Fireball.
The Molten Fireball was cleanly sliced in half by the brilliant flash of his sword.
The remaining embers were weakened by the skeleton sword, absorbed by [Flame Devouring], and blocked by his chestplate.
By the time the flames reached Li Xiuman's actual body, [Elemental Resistance] had completely nullified the fire damage.
Without a moment's hesitation after cutting the fireball, Li Xiuman gripped his wand, let Flowing Wind swirl around it, and threw it with [Great Strength].
The wand tore through the air with a sharp screech. Water constantly seeped from the blue water magic stone at its tip, wrapping around the shaft and spinning with the whirlwind.
Watching the wand shoot toward it at breakneck speed, the Firewing Beast King flapped its wings, whipping up a fiery hurricane.
By the time the wand pierced through the fiery hurricane, it only managed to scrape a shallow bloody scratch across the Firewing Beast King's scales.
“Golem Creation!”
An earthy-yellow magic circle expanded over the wand.
The straight metal wand split along perfectly neat seams, like a Transformer, before blooming open.
It transformed into a spider-like golem, each of its sharp legs digging deep and anchoring themselves into the wound.
Next, the blue magic stone head of the spider golem lit up.
Water enveloped its legs, beginning to seep into the beast's flesh.
Every monster on this floor was weak to water.
The agonizing pain of water seeping directly into its open wound sent the Firewing Beast King into a wild frenzy.
“Good job!”
Li Xiuman cheered.
From now on, this wand golem would be named One.
The Firewing Beast King thrashed and snapped its jaws at the wound.
But One clung tightly to the wound. Relying on its extremely durable metal body, it refused to let go no matter how hard the Firewing Beast King bit at it.
Desperate, the Firewing Beast King steeled its resolve and tore away a chunk of its own flesh along with One, flinging them both away.
Having already closed the distance, Li Xiuman reached out and snatched the steel spider-like One out of the air.
One obediently reverted to its wand form, resting quietly in Li Xiuman's hand.
“Torrential Spiral Spike!”
Three layers of magic circles stacked at the tip of the wand simultaneously.
The spinning stone spike of water instantly reached its maximum rotational speed, shattering the magic circles as it shot violently toward the Firewing Beast King.
The Firewing Beast King flapped its wings to dodge the projectile.
But as if he had anticipated its movement, Li Xiuman thrust his skeleton sword toward the spot where the Firewing Beast King had dodged.
Flapping its wings, the Firewing Beast King unleashed several wind blades wrapped in fire, cutting toward the charging skeleton.
With a sweep of his left hand, his shield deflected some of the flaming blades, while his skeleton sword flashed, cleaving the rest apart one by one.
Seeing this, the Firewing Beast King spat three more Molten Fireballs in a triangular formation to keep him at bay as it fell back to create distance.
Seeing the incoming attacks, Li Xiuman hastily raised his wand.
“Tier 2 Magic, Water Prison!”
Three Water Prison magic circles unfolded simultaneously, swallowing the Molten Fireballs and cooling them into ordinary boulders.
“Golem Creation!”
Dazzling magic circles appeared one after another.
Three winged, half-human, half-bird golems were materialized—two Swordsmen and one Mage.
Their skills were [Swordsmanship Lv. 2], [Bone Wings Lv. 2], [Elemental Magic Lv. 2], [Fire Resistance Lv. 1], and [Swiftness Lv. 1].
Since allocating a skill slot for [Bone Wings Lv. 2] was necessary, this batch of golems was somewhat lacking in overall power.
“Go!”
Li Xiuman commanded.
Flapping their wings, the three golems fearlessly charged at the Firewing Beast King.
The Firewing Beast King beat its wings, intending to smash these golems to pieces.
Floating in the air, Li Xiuman slowly raised his wand as two-layered magic circles of green and yellow expanded.
“Tier 2 Magic...”
Stone condensed into a rock spear, enveloped by a howling gale that whipped up a hurricane.
Spin, spin, spin.
It spun until a violent hurricane raged in midair, ripping through the atmosphere and transforming into a visible torrent.
By now, the rock spear had become a yellow blur.
Mana was drained from his body as if being squeezed dry.
This composite magic wasn't fully completed yet.
As such, its mana consumption was somewhat unsatisfactory.
“Storm Rock Spear!”
Like a runaway horse, the Storm Rock Spear shattered the magic circles and shot forward, dragging trails of green and yellow light behind it as it lunged toward the beast.
Even the air exploded with an ear-piercing screech as the pressure buckled.
