“Who on earth is it! I’m signing this in blood, requesting the system to reveal the host’s ID!”
“Signed in blood by two people!!!”
“Add me to the list.”
Cheng Shuili tapped on the floor rhythmically, unable to resist opening the system page to take another look.
It was nearly eight-thirty, the time when dungeons previously opened.
Was the system still in the process of drawing a dungeon?
Could it be that there were so few non-dangerous dungeons that it was struggling to find one?
Cheng Shuili’s speculation was certainly not without basis!
She had seen it before when she used the Designated Dungeon Opening Card; setting aside those dangerous dungeons that looked like poisonous mushrooms at a glance with their vibrant colors and exquisite graphics, even the simple, text-based ones were definitely few and far between!
Thinking about it this way, it was no wonder the system had been drawing for so long; the exclusion process alone must take quite a while, right?
Dungeons with too high a difficulty wouldn't work, dungeons with lethal mechanics wouldn't work, and most importantly, any dungeon containing monsters had to be completely excluded!
No matter how weak the monster was, even if it were only the lowest-level slime, that dungeon wouldn't do.
Who said humans couldn't be killed by a cute, gooey slime?
Cheng Shuili had assumed the system would at least select the dungeon before eight-thirty, but who knew it would drag on until eight-forty.
Fortunately, the dungeon content was finally announced.
【Dungeon Details: Hide and Seek】
【Description: ...Error... Not yet edited...】
Huh?
Cheng Shuili frowned as she stared at the line of text following the description. What was this?
What was this exactly?
She had originally thought her interface had glitched, but upon opening the regional channel, she saw everyone else was looking at the same line of text.
“System! Come out and explain what this ‘not yet edited’ is supposed to mean?”
“Cutting corners, are we? Who’s responsible for this? You can be fired!”
“This world really is just one giant, slapdash production, hahahaha. I thought it was just the previous world, but how is the system also this unreliable? Hahaha!!”
“The biggest joke of the day! I’ve already taken a screenshot. Next time the system stops talking like a human—er, like a system—I’m going to slap this screenshot in its face!”
“I took a screenshot too, haha. It’s a rare sight indeed. What the hell is ‘not yet edited’?”
Cheng Shuili chuckled, closed the regional channel, and checked the public system page again. It was indeed still “Not yet edited.”
What was this? Was some intern system about to have its wages deducted?
She raised an eyebrow and let her gaze drift back to the name of the dungeon.
Hide and Seek?
This name was different from the previous dungeons as well.
When selecting dungeons before, she had never seen a three-character title.
It couldn't be that...
Cheng Shuili propped her chin in her hand, a sudden theory forming in her mind. Could this dungeon... have just been thrown together on the spot?
The system probably didn't expect anyone to use a dungeon opening card on a rest day, right?
Cheng Shuili speculated with great amusement, while on the other side, the system was being scolded to the point of despair.
It was truly...
Being notified at the last minute to create a non-dangerous dungeon was one thing!
Why did it have to be responsible for the description too?
And if it had to be responsible, it could have at least been told!
There was no system notification, no system reminder, yet when things went wrong, they blamed it for everything.
The little system was crying in its heart, but the little system was bitter!
“So, are we still adding it?”
The little system raised its teary eyes to ask the main system, which was speaking with harsh words.
The main system was choked by this question, taking a long while before replying unhappily: “They’ve already seen it, so what’s the point of fixing it now? Do you want to increase your own workload?”
“Understood.”
Sob.
The start time for the dungeon was set for nine o'clock.
Judging by this timing, there was definitely a reason for the delay.
Since the system had personally stated that this dungeon had no dangers, all the players were feeling relatively relaxed for the time being.
Failure might carry a penalty, but since the system hadn't announced it, worrying now was futile.
What everyone cared about most was still the identity of the “host.”
Cheng Shuili had expected the system to announce the host’s ID when it announced the dungeon, but instead of an ID, they were treated to such a ridiculous joke.
Actually, she had just taken a screenshot herself. Although she didn't know why, she felt that this might come in handy at some point in the future; saving it definitely wouldn't be a mistake.
Amidst the anticipation of the masses, the time finally ticked over to nine o'clock.
Although this dungeon lacked a description and was an entirely unknown environment, for some reason, every player felt more excitement than anything else.
Cheng Shuili was no exception.
A dungeon with absolutely no danger... truly a rare sight to behold.
A flash passed before her eyes, and once she could see clearly again, she found herself in a vast plaza.
Scattered around were various decorative items, and the outermost perimeter was a neat circle of houses with doors tightly shut; these houses clearly formed an air wall.
Cheng Shuili looked around, and just as she was wondering why there were no prompts, a pop-up window suddenly appeared before her.
【You have entered a Hell-level dungeon! Please find the 12 hidden beastman NPCs in the shortest possible time!】
【This is a timed dungeon! The maximum game time is 4 hours; if the goal is not completed within 4 hours, the dungeon is considered a failure! If the goal is completed within 4 hours, the player’s score will be used to calculate the average; a score higher than the average counts as a success, otherwise it is still a failure!】
【Now! The timer has begun!】
Cheng Shuili didn't rush to find the beastman NPCs, instead pondering the lines of text for a moment.
After confirming there were no word games, she finally had to admit that this was just a plain and simple game of hide and seek.
The players were the “seekers,” and the beastman NPCs were the “hiders.”
What kind of dungeon was this, anyway?
It was completely out of place compared to the dungeons the system had created before!
As Cheng Shuili was thinking, her gaze suddenly paused on a certain spot.
If she wasn't mistaken, what she was looking at was the butt of a beastman, right?
This beastman, whose species she didn't know, was crouching behind a piece of cover, its hands moving to protect its head tightly.
So, the butt doesn't matter, is that it?
She couldn't help but let out a laugh, and the butt exposed in front shook along with it. It seemed to be nervous, shrinking a bit further into the cover, which only exposed even more of it.
Cheng Shuili couldn't resist; she walked over in long strides and dragged the beastman out.
It was a sheep-race beastman, seemingly a bit elderly; it was normal for them not to know how to play the game.
It seemed to have been crouching for quite a while; as soon as it looked up, its eyes went black, and its body swayed, nearly collapsing onto the ground.
Accompanied by cries of “Elder” from all directions, Cheng Shuili raised her hand to steady it firmly.
The sheep-race beastman shook its head, feeling much better, before looking at Cheng Shuili with a smile: “Thank you, human. You really are a kind-hearted person.”
