Bai Suzhen's words made Su Qing freeze.
She couldn't help but feel a little helpless.
Do ancient people always like to repay kindness by offering themselves in marriage?
Su Qing said helplessly, "There's no need for that! It's enough for you to cultivate well."
"Besides, if it's not true love, but merely to repay a debt of gratitude, then offering oneself in marriage is somewhat unworthy."
Su Qing actually disliked the idea of offering oneself in marriage purely out of gratitude; she found it foolish.
To marry someone you don't love for a debt of gratitude? What's the point of that?
There are many ways to repay kindness; it doesn't have to be by offering oneself in marriage.
Upon hearing this, Bai Suzhen paused slightly, then nodded blankly.
"Is that so?"
Bai Suzhen suddenly asked, "As long as it's true love, then it's fine, right?"
Su Qing nodded slightly upon hearing this.
"That's right..."
"After all, offering oneself in marriage to repay kindness is like treating oneself as a tool for repayment."
"Moreover, we are demons, and our lives are very long. We might incur many debts of gratitude in our lives; if we offered ourselves in marriage for every single one, what would become of us?"
"Also, your life is always your own! Don't just say... this life belongs to someone else."
Su Qing answered very seriously...
Although her words sounded a bit preachy, to prevent Bai Suzhen from repeating the same mistakes as in the TV series... preaching it is!
Besides, these were her true feelings!
Upon hearing this, Bai Suzhen's telepathic message carried a hint of a smile.
She said, "I understand, Sister! I will cultivate diligently and achieve human form soon! Once I achieve human form, I'll come find you, Sister!"
Su Qing didn't know what she was thinking, as she didn't have mind-reading magic, so she just nodded slightly.
"Cultivate well, and don't get distracted by other things."
"Got it!" Bai Suzhen replied very quickly.
Afterward, Su Qing chatted with Bai Suzhen for a while longer.
They discussed matters of cultivation.
The two snakes talked for a long time, for one or two hours.
When they came to their senses, the sky was already filled with fiery clouds.
Su Qing glanced at the sky and felt it was time to leave.
So she simply bid farewell to Bai Suzhen, and then they made some mutual arrangements.
Their agreement wasn't anything special.
It was just an agreement to meet again in the future, to take care of themselves, and so on...
Before Su Qing left, she bowed to the Old Mother's statue and said, "Senior, it's getting late, so I'll take my leave first."
The Old Mother didn't say anything, only giving a 'hmm' before ending the interaction.
At the same time, the door opened by itself without any wind.
Su Qing walked out of the side hall.
She saw the Daoist Child arguing about something with the sparrows.
Listening in, it seemed they were arguing whether the sparrows were genuinely fat or just looked fat.
Su Qing smiled helplessly; what was there to argue about?
Everyone knew they were genuinely fat, except for the sparrows themselves.
Su Qing spoke up, and the sparrows stopped their argument with the Daoist Child.
Honestly, they had already lost the argument long ago.
They were just being stubborn...
Seeing the little sparrows fly back, Su Qing couldn't help but cast an apologetic glance at the Daoist Child.
"These little fellows have always lacked self-awareness, please forgive them," Su Qing said helplessly.
The Daoist Child shook her head slightly and said, "The Old Mother said that stubbornness doesn't change facts. So I'm not angry... I just want them to recognize the truth."
Su Qing smiled helplessly at this; how could these little fellows recognize the truth!
They were too good at deceiving themselves!
No matter how much they ate, they'd convince themselves they wouldn't get fat.
Upon hearing the Daoist Child's words, the sparrows still wanted to argue.
But after thinking about it, they seemed truly unable to win the argument... so they could only honestly endure it.
Su Qing poked the 'meatball' on her shoulder, then bid farewell to the Daoist Child.
"May we meet again if fate allows!" the Daoist Child said.
Su Qing nodded slightly, and Leng Xiang transformed into a stream of light, returning to Su Qing's hairpin.
Su Qing recited a True Word Incantation, clouds formed beneath her feet, and she suddenly vanished before the Daoist Child.
The Daoist Child looked in the direction Su Qing had left, and couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
"This Daoist magic is truly powerful! The speed is astonishing... In this Jambudvipa World, it's probably one of the best. The great green snake truly found a good master..."
Then she shook her head and bounced off to do other things.
On her way flying towards Huai County.
Something suddenly came to her mind... when she passed by that mountaintop.
She immediately pressed down her cloud and descended.
"Master?" Leng Xiang was a little confused, not knowing what Su Qing was going to do.
Su Qing only said, "I've come to retrieve something from an old friend..."
Leng Xiang was a little confused; she didn't know her master had so many old friends.
However, she didn't ask further.
She just quietly followed Su Qing deeper into the forest.
Su Qing entered the forest and, following her memory, came to a Dirt Mound.
The Dirt Mound no longer looked as it once did.
It was overgrown with weeds and covered with thick decaying leaves...
However, although its appearance had changed greatly, Su Qing was relieved.
At least the item inside was still there.
Su Qing swept her slender hand, the Dirt Mound broke open, and a Bone Fragment flew into her hand.
Decades had passed, but the Bone Fragment was just as it had been.
Only the magic on it had long since expired due to the passage of time.
Now, the Bone Fragment was just an ordinary hard bone fragment.
"But thankfully, this thing wasn't lost."
Su Qing sighed softly in her heart, thinking:
"The only thing to worry about is whether I can deduce the result... and whether I'll deduce the worst possible outcome."
Su Qing had stayed with Patriarch Bodhi for so many years, and besides the Seventy-Two Transformations, she had learned some other spells.
Of course, Su Qing also knew divination spells.
However, this spell was easy to learn but difficult to master...
She often miscalculated, or her calculations were vague, and sometimes she couldn't calculate anything at all.
Moreover, things like future lives are inherently difficult to calculate.
"Sister Xiao Qing, what is this!?"
"Stupid, this is clearly a bone, isn't it?"
"Of course I know it's a bone! I'm just curious why Sister Xiao Qing came to look for this bone."
"Yes, yes, I'm also very curious."
The sparrows stood on Su Qing's shoulder, saw the Bone Fragment in her hand, and couldn't help but chirp inquiringly.
And Leng Xiang also cast a puzzled glance, curious about its use.
Su Qing, feeling helpless, had to explain the past events.
"So, I plan to look for her reincarnation," Su Qing said after explaining. "Whether she's reincarnated as rich or poor... she kept me safe on my journey, so I will ensure her peace for a lifetime. This is a debt of gratitude that must be repaid."
Su Qing's words made Leng Xiang nod slightly.
The sparrows, however, listened in a daze, half-understanding, half-confused.
Su Qing didn't bother to check if the sparrows understood; she simply used the connection of the Bone Fragment to divine the Cat Immortal's next life.
However, after a brief divination, she couldn't help but frown.
