Su Qing wanted to roll her eyes, but as a snake, she couldn't...
Su Qing knew the craftsmen would be afraid of her... but she didn't mind.
She was self-aware of her status as a demon...
As long as those craftsmen could help her repair the ruined temple, that would be enough.
She wasn't asking for anything grand!
A place to shelter from the wind and rain would suffice.
However, she had to admit that hearing Li Lianyu's words still made her a little happy...
She looked at Li Lianyu and shook her head slightly, indicating that she didn't mind those things.
Seeing this, Li Lianyu also smiled faintly and scratched her head in embarrassment.
Honestly, she had never imagined that her childhood playmate would now be the Willow Immortal spoken of by the county magistrate, the very benefactor who had saved the entire county...
In her heart, Su Qing was still that same Xiao Qing...
Li Lianyu looked at Xiao Qing, who had closed her eyes, and began to talk about recent events.
Su Qing didn't interrupt, just listened quietly from the side.
Most of what Li Lianyu talked about was everyday trifles, as well as some of the effects of the recent heavy rains.
She talked for a long time.
It wasn't until the sun was high in the sky that Guard Liu came to call Li Lianyu for lunch, and only then did she stop.
Su Qing knew Li Lianyu had left, but she didn't pay it much mind. She just continued to sunbathe. Humans needed to eat three meals a day.
But a snake didn't; a meal every few days was more than enough.
"What a beautiful day..."
Su Qing dozed for a little while, then smelled a whiff of blood. She raised her eyes to look.
It was Guard Liu, who had run over again, and he had brought a goat with him...
Su Qing flicked her tongue, staring at him, curious about his intentions.
Guard Liu put down the goat in his hands and then bowed to Su Qing.
He apologized for his rudeness that day...
And this goat was his apology gift.
Su Qing flicked her tongue and shook her head.
She had never cared about what happened that day, and she had never thought of making him apologize.
She just hadn't expected that when Guard Liu said he would come to apologize, he actually did...
Do such stubborn people really exist?
However, Su Qing didn't refuse the gift. While hunting wasn't difficult for her, she certainly couldn't turn down a ready-made meal!
Besides, she wasn't losing anything.
Seeing that Su Qing had accepted his apology gift, Guard Liu also breathed a sigh of relief, clasped his hands in a salute, and left.
Su Qing didn't stop him, watching as he walked into the distance.
Then, she swallowed the goat in a single gulp.
With this goat in her belly, she wouldn't need to eat for several days.
After eating the goat, Su Qing coiled under a tree to rest.
She wasn't in a hurry to return to the ruined temple, knowing it wouldn't be completed anytime soon.
If she went back now, she would surely frighten the craftsmen.
Scaring people wasn't a big deal, but if it slowed down the repairs on her temple, it wouldn't be worth it.
Time passed slowly, and in the blink of an eye, the sun had set.
The craftsmen had already gone down the mountain to go home and rest.
Only after everyone was gone did Su Qing return to the ruined temple.
She looked at the temple and flicked her tongue.
Only one day had passed, so of course the temple wasn't finished yet.
However, the repairs and reconstruction had already begun. In a few days, the ruined temple would no longer be ruined.
Su Qing looked at the temple, a faint sense of anticipation in her heart, curious about what it would look like when finished.
But soon, Su Qing discovered another very serious problem...
"Where am I going to sleep tonight?"
Su Qing looked at the temple, which was still just a frame... and flicked her tongue.
A new problem had appeared, but Su Qing was still stuck.
In the end, Su Qing had no choice but to coil up in a tree next to the temple and sleep for the night.
However, Su Qing wanted to cultivate even more.
Without a human form, some things were just inconvenient.
Su Qing shook her head and closed her eyes.
The next day.
Li Lianyu and the craftsmen arrived on time again to continue the repair work.
Since the craftsmen were here, Su Qing left for the time being.
She knew that staying here would affect the progress of the work.
The days passed quickly; in a flash, another five or six days had gone by.
Because it hadn't rained these past few days, the progress of the repairs was quite gratifying.
Thanks to the efforts of the craftsmen, the temple, which had been in complete disrepair, was now completely new.
Furthermore, it even had a new name...
Written by the county magistrate himself!
It was called 'Willow Immortal Temple'!
And inside the temple, a lot of miscellaneous things had been added...
Incense burners, divine statues, prayer cushions, and the like... you could say it had everything.
Overall, it looked more like a mountain god temple than it did when it was dilapidated...
Su Qing flicked her tongue; she didn't care about these things...
Although she didn't really want to be worshipped by people and become the Willow Immortal in their eyes.
But if they wanted to do these extra things, she couldn't be bothered to stop them.
Besides, she felt that it was unlikely anyone would make a special trip to this Willow Immortal Temple.
To worship an unknown Willow Immortal, no less.
With that kind of effort, wouldn't it be better to go worship some famous deities?
Therefore, Su Qing didn't mind, feeling that her peaceful life wouldn't be disturbed.
Besides.
Sooner or later, she had to leave...
She wanted to cultivate and become a great demon, and a cultivation method was absolutely essential.
But by staying here, she wouldn't be able to find any way to cultivate...
So, she would leave sooner or later...
The reason she was still here... was partly due to her attachment, and partly because she wanted to see her old friend off, so she could leave without any lingering ties.
The temple was completed, and Li Lianyu took the lead in offering a stick of incense.
She pretended to make a wish!
It was considered a good start for the place!
The other craftsmen did the same... Although they didn't give any incense money, they all came to pay their respects.
The craftsmen didn't really understand these customs...
They were just following Li Lianyu's lead.
Everything was finished.
The craftsmen left first.
Only Guard Liu and Li Lianyu remained...
Seeing that only these two were left, Su Qing crawled out from inside the temple.
These two must have stayed behind because they had something to say.
Li Lianyu didn't say anything particularly useful, just told Su Qing to take care of herself... as if she were treating Su Qing like a person.
Guard Liu just stood silently to the side, saying nothing.
Finally, the two of them also left, but Li Lianyu said she would come back once a month... so that Su Qing wouldn't be lonely.
Su Qing just nodded.
She actually felt that it didn't matter whether Li Lianyu came or not...
She had gotten through more than ten years on her own, so how could she be afraid of loneliness?
However, if she could come, that would be wonderful too...
Su Qing just didn't know how long she could keep it up.
Everyone was gone, and the temple grew quiet again.
Su Qing coiled on the divine altar, closed her eyes, and settled down to rest.
And so, the days passed one by one...
Su Qing's life returned to its routine...
Just as Su Qing had predicted, not many people came to worship here...
Sometimes, even when people came, drawn by its reputation, they would be scared away upon seeing Su Qing coiled on the divine altar.
Su Qing didn't feel anything about this... she just thought it was for the best. If they were scared away, no one would come to disturb her peace.
Sure enough, gradually, no one came here anymore.
In a flash, a month had passed.
The floor of the temple was already covered in dust. Although it had only been a month, it was already a thick layer.
Su Qing was coiled on the divine altar, as always.
"Will my old friend come as promised?"
