‘These clothes...’
After washing himself, Ogre looked at the clothes Mima had left behind.
Truth be told, they actually had a sense of simple beauty to them.
It was just the pair of long white stockings pressed underneath that made Ogre's lips twitch.
Having lived in human society for two years, he now more or less understood the purpose and value of stockings.
Stockings had originally been invented by a male Count.
However, as the fashion spread, they gradually became exclusive to noblewomen and young ladies.
Noblewomen discovered that these expensive silk weaves could better showcase the charm of their legs. With further spread and development, it gradually became one of the standard exclusive marks of noble ladies.
Because they were widely worn at social balls, stockings eventually came to be associated with effeminacy. Coupled with the tradition of men in Engodo proudly displaying their scars, stockings—which covered and hid those flaws—gradually became something despised by men.
Even Ogre had been influenced by this, considering them to be a flashy, impractical product.
After all, even the cheapest stockings cost two gold coins.
If they were pantyhose woven from premium mana-spider silk,
they would easily be worth a hundred gold coins.
Staring at this costly pair of white thigh-highs, Ogre ultimately picked them up: ‘Fine, if I'm going to play the part, I might as well go all the way...’
Since he was already putting on women's clothes, this little bit didn't make much of a difference.
Though Ogre didn't like these kinds of highly eye-catching clothes.
‘I still somewhat underestimated the impact of a Grand Knight.’
Once Ogre finished dressing, he felt that aside from the tight, squeezing sensation of the stockings, it wasn't as awkward as he had imagined.
This outfit wasn't very suitable for combat.
But in terms of comfort, it was top-tier. The fabric was clearly brand new, and the hidden pockets in the skirt offered Ogre some small comfort.
He just felt a bit insecure...
If he had to choose between comfort and a sense of security, Ogre still preferred his original set of inner armor.
The armor, hidden beneath his clothes and sewn with pants made of mana-swamp crocodile hide and lining, was not only exceptionally durable but also offered decent defense.
While it couldn't compare to plate armor, it had the advantage of being low-profile and nimble.
As for this outfit... he could only say it wouldn't hinder his daily activities.
‘It is quite pretty. Though a bit inconvenient, it can be considered a form of protective coloring for my current identity.’
Ogre smiled at the mirror.
Who would have thought that beneath the skin of this beautiful young girl lay a humanoid ogre—one capable of punching a man to death.
‘If used well, it might yield unexpectedly great results, but it's still a bit too eye-catching.’
Picking up the disguise mask he had made not long ago, Ogre pushed open the door.
“That was quick,” Aunt Mima said, slightly startled when she saw Ogre push the door open.
Only then did she focus on Ogre's face and attire.
Everyone had an eye for beauty.
And Ogre's current attire was undoubtedly beautiful.
The slightly high-waisted, over-the-knee skirt combined with the outer short shirt made his figure look tall and slender. The perfectly placed thin string ties appeared simple yet elegant, and though the short boots seemed a bit clunky, the smooth, trim lines of his calves more than made up for it.
“Mm...” Ogre nodded, not forgetting to maintain his persona.
Seeing the girl's timid demeanor, anyone would feel an instinctive desire to protect her.
A fair complexion could cover a multitude of flaws, and Ogre's jade-white skin was the best natural cosmetic. Paired with his striking facial features, it surpassed any makeup artistry.
It was only his flat chest that left people feeling a bit of regret.
“Lady Gelin, even elves don't possess half your beauty. You are simply the most beautiful jewel in this world. If you told me you were a princess on the run, I'd believe it in a heartbeat,” Mima praised from the bottom of her heart, gazing at the ‘timid’ girl.
Although her vocabulary was simple, her affection was plain to see.
Ogre's face was simply too outstanding. Even the loose, austere simplicity of Sister robes could be worn with beauty.
Let alone the clothes Mima had meticulously selected according to her own aesthetic.
“Quick, quick, hide yourself. If those young lads see you, they won't have any focus left for work,” Mima teased as she took Ogre's hand.
At the same time, she took the disguise mask from Ogre's hand.
“In a bit, let me do some makeup for you to help conceal your looks. Don't wear this thing anymore. Keeping your face covered for too long will ruin your skin,” Mima said caringly.
Ogre looked down at his empty left hand in surprise—he hadn't expected his looks to be so devastating.
His appearance appealed to both men and women alike.
“Mm...”
Though if there were makeup tools available, that wouldn't be a bad option either.
“Come, let me take you—”
Just as Mima took Ogre's hand to say something, a knock sounded on the door.
“Aunt Mima!”
It was Macar's voice.
“That brat. Wait here for a moment.”
Mima spoke softly to the girl before walking over to the door with quick, large strides.
Seeing the door open, Macar instinctively tried to enter, but Mima blocked him. “Say whatever you have to say here.”
“Uh, Aunt Mima, I managed to get a Sister's outfit for Lady Gelin...”
Macar was only halfway through his sentence when the door was shut right in his face.
Before closing the door, Mima snatched the clothes from Macar's hands. “Just wait outside. It's not convenient right now.”
Macar scratched his empty hands in complete bewilderment.
He had no idea what had gotten into his aunt. In the blink of an eye, she seemed to have become a completely different person.
She used to call him Little Car, but now she was addressing him so formally.
“Huh?”
Macar looked to the side. What he actually wanted to say was that he had also brought Maqi, Mima's daughter, back with him.
“Hahaha! Cousin, how did you manage to make my mom so angry?” the young girl clad in light armor beside him giggled, covering her mouth.
Mima had shut the door so quickly that she hadn't even noticed Maqi standing there.
“How should I know...” Macar scratched his head.
As a Paladin, if you asked him to slay variants, he was swift and efficient. But asking him to guess what someone else was thinking was truly pushing his limits.
“Mom!”
Gesticulating for Macar to step aside, Maqi took over the calling.
Before long, Mima opened the door once again.
“Come on in, quick.” Seeing her darling daughter, Mima gestured for her to enter.
But when Macar tried to follow her inside, the door was shut in his face yet again.
“Huh?”
Left standing alone in the hallway, Macar was utterly bewildered.
“Did I do something wrong?”
Well, this was just great. Now he was left all alone to guard the door.
He had really wanted to go in and see Lady Gelin, too...
