Bai Xiaodu left.
Leaving Xin Hai'an sitting alone in her office, unable to calm her heart for a long time.
Her red eyes looked downcast.
Feeling a heavy sensation in her chest, she wanted to quickly finish approving the documents in her hands and take a nap.
Yet, looking at the pages of documents she was normally so familiar with, Xin Hai'an only found them tedious. She had absolutely no patience to read on.
After repeating this a few times, she finally lost her temper, sweeping the stack of documents and all the miscellaneous items on her desk onto the floor before she stopped.
She stared blankly at the mess she, someone who loved neatness, had just created.
Looking around the empty office, Xin Hai'an opened her mouth slightly.
But she didn't say anything, only closing her eyes again.
Her thoughts and emotions were tangled in a mess.
Unraveling them seemed impossible.
What was wrong with her?
Was she worried he would die after hearing that Bai Xiaodu was being used by a transcendent of the Autocracy?
It made sense. He had no background, and the only friend he could barely count as close...
...was probably her, right?
But what did that have to do with her?
Director-General Shen was a scion of an elite clan from the Eastern Continent. If she had some scheme, Xin Hai'an didn't think she had the power to stop her.
In the worst-case scenario, she would fail to stop it and only draw resentment upon herself.
Besides, Bai Xiaodu had stepped forward of his own accord, so Xin Hai'an had even less reason to interfere.
The elders of her clan wouldn't be willing to help over such a trivial matter, either.
So there was no need for her to do anything.
Right?
Xin Hai'an slowly convinced herself and couldn't help but nod.
That was it.
Forcing those troubling thoughts from her mind, Xin Hai'an went back to approving the documents on her desk.
Sure enough, once she resolved her inner conflict, she worked much faster.
What would normally take half an hour, Xin Hai'an finished in just fifteen minutes.
Letting out a long sigh of relief, she neatly stacked the approved proposals to the side, ready to keep going.
Only a few sheets of paper remained scattered under the desk. Once she picked them up and wrapped things up, she could enjoy a perfect lunch break.
Xin Hai'an moved her chair, squatted down, and reached out.
Suddenly, she froze.
The drawing of a cold vampire beauty made of ice crystals appeared before her eyes once again!
“...”
Xin Hai'an's expression grew incredibly complex.
Her chest heaved, and her breathing became uneven.
For a moment, she didn't know what to do. She clutched the drawing tightly, biting her lower lip.
She stared blankly at it for a full twenty minutes.
In silence, Xin Hai'an opened her phone and dialed her older sister's number.
Xin Hai'an's sister was named Xin Tianyue.
Her cultivation talent was decent, and her academic performance had always been near the top.
Unfortunately, it was as if her parents had lacked experience when they first made a child.
Xin Tianyue's looks could only be described as passable at best. Even with heavy makeup, she would only receive a “not bad” evaluation.
She was far inferior to her younger siblings, not to mention Xin Hai'an, whose beauty was considered the most stunning among all the younger generation.
With so many cliches stacked against her, it would almost be against the laws of nature if Xin Tianyue didn't end up as a malicious, cannon-fodder female supporting character.
But she didn't. She cultivated diligently, took her work seriously, and stood out.
She had even become the top figure of the Crimson Blood Group.
Aside from her fondness for throwing money at pretty boys, which led to a somewhat chaotic private life, she took great care of her younger siblings, making her a thoroughly qualified and responsible eldest sister.
Ring... ring...
Xin Hai'an waited patiently.
As the public figurehead of the entire Crimson Blood Group and the most outstanding among the younger generation, her sister would definitely have a solution.
Of course, there was another reason she called her first.
Xin Hai'an knew her current state of mind was ridiculously absurd.
If she told her parents about this, she would definitely be severely scolded.
What was worse, let alone her parents, even if the Xin Hai'an from two weeks ago saw her current self, she probably wouldn't be able to resist coming over to slap some sense into her.
When she first arrived, she had only thought Bai Xiaodu's photo looked good, coming over to play with the mindset of a wealthy playgirl.
In the end, it seemed like she was going to get herself completely entangled!
Therefore, other than Xin Tianyue, who was always calm enough to accept any emotion, she really didn't know who else she could talk to right now.
The call connected, and a lazy voice sounded from the other end.
“What's up, Xiao An? Is something wrong?”
Xin Hai'an gathered the thoughts she had barely managed to organize in her head and spoke.
“There is something, but I hope you won't laugh at me, Sis.”
“Spill.”
Then, Xin Hai'an explained everything over the phone.
She told her sister everything, from the moment she met Bai Xiaodu to the inexplicable ache in her heart now.
Like finding a tree hollow to pour her heart into, Xin Hai'an just babbled on, not even realizing her own expressions.
Her eyebrows would rise, her lips would curve into a smile, or her face would fill with worry as she unconsciously tapped her foot.
She dumped this jumbled, incoherent mess of words onto her sister.
Xin Hai'an felt as though a massive weight had been lifted from her shoulders, and she breathed a deep sigh of relief.
At the same time, an expectant look appeared on her exquisite face as she waited for a reply.
Only after a few minutes did Xin Tianyue's voice lazily drift over.
However, what she said instantly turned Xin Hai'an to stone. A deep blush rushed from her neck to her cheeks, making her entire body feel burning hot!
Xin Tianyue giggled on the other end. Even from so far away, Xin Hai'an could picture her sister's mischievous grin in her mind.
“You must have been repressing yourself. This is a good thing!”
“I always said that out of all of us, you're the most straight-laced. Who can control their emotions every single day? The more you repress it, the harder the rebound, you know? People like you play the hardest once they find someone they actually like.”
Xin Hai'an, speechless, retorted with a red face.
“Sis, I'm trying to discuss something very serious with you. Stop joking around, okay? If I stay like this, I won't be able to work properly. I came to you for a solution!”
“A solution? That's easy. Come on, just do as I say.”
Xin Hai'an immediately perked up her ears, listening intently.
Xin Tianyue quickly spoke.
“Didn't you say he might be in danger? Just kidnap him and the people around him and put them somewhere else. Then, get this Bai Xiaodu guy out. Set him up in a villa in a nearby city. Then prepare a week's worth of food, drinks, and daily necessities. Oh, and don't use those cheap rubbers, get some high-end Biyun contraceptive scrolls instead, you know what I mean? And then start doing him. Do him in the morning, do him during breakfast, do him at noon, do him during lunch, do him during your afternoon nap, do him during dinner, do him during your night break, and do him during midnight snack, until you do him so hard he cries for his mommy.”
“I guarantee you'll be cured after that. If it doesn't work, come back to me. I still have two unopened bottles of divine medicine here.”
