Ethan stood at the top of the undersea ridge, watching the Sea Snakes in the distant tribe struggle with cold indifference.
There was not a shred of emotion in his eyes.
From the moment their tribe began stirring up trouble in his territory, the fate of the Red-Scaled Sea Snake tribe had been sealed—extinction.
Just then, a furious roar erupted from deep within the tribe.
The sound was so powerful that the seawater itself trembled, and a violent shockwave blasted outward from the center of the tribe, sending the surrounding coral bone buildings flying.
Shattered fragments of coral bone shot in all directions through the water, carving countless craters into the sandy seabed.
A figure rushed out from the ruins.
It was an eight-meter-tall Red-Scaled Sea Snake.
His scale armor was a deep crimson, its edges gleaming with a dark gold luster.
Fury burned in his vertical pupils as he gripped a trident in his hand, the dark green light emanating from its tip staining the surrounding seawater a sickly green.
It was Snake, the Second-Tier Sea Snake who had captured Ethan.
His vertical pupils swept across the tribe, contracting sharply as the rage within them nearly overflowed.
“Who is it?! Who on earth is it?! Get out!”
His roar exploded across the seabed, the sound waves pushing the seawater away within a radius of several thousand meters, creating a temporary vacuum.
He slammed his trident hard into the sandy ground.
A shockwave ring of dark green energy erupted from the tip of the trident, sweeping outward in all directions.
Wherever the shockwave passed, the seagrass was shattered, corroded, and reduced to powder.
The seagrass within a radius of several hundred meters was cleared, leaving a barren zone. Dozens of ensnared Sea Snakes tumbled from the severed vines—some were still moving, while others had already been torn into fragments.
“Come out!”
Snake's roar was even louder than before.
His vertical pupils scanned back and forth across the ruined tribe, the dark green light on his trident growing brighter and brighter.
The sandy ground beneath Snake's feet suddenly caved in.
Hundreds of strands of seagrass erupted from the sand at once, each as thick as a palace pillar.
Snake's reactions were incredibly swift. Sweeping his trident around his body, a blade of dark green energy severed the foremost dozen strands of seagrass at the waist.
Before the severed seagrass could even fall to the seabed, new strands surged toward him simultaneously from his sides, his back, and overhead.
Tensing his legs, he launched himself upward.
The seagrass snapped shut right beneath his feet, twisting into a massive grass ball dozens of meters in diameter where he had just stood. The pressure inside the ball was so immense that it squeezed the seawater out, forming a visible shockwave.
Flipping in midwater, Snake thrust his trident downward three times in rapid succession.
Three beams of dark green energy shot from the tip of the trident, blowing the grass ball to pieces.
As the debris swirled in the water, new seagrass sprouted directly from the fragments, continuing to reach for him.
Absolute rage churned in his vertical pupils.
He had no idea who was attacking.
From beginning to end, he hadn't seen so much as a shadow of his enemy.
There was only the endless seagrass, surging from every direction and every corner.
Unstoppable, unbreakable, and inescapable.
“Who on earth is it?!”
His roar exploded underwater as the dark green light on his trident flared violently.
“Get out!”
Snake's roar grew even louder.
His vertical pupils swept across the ruins of the tribe, the dark green light on his trident growing brighter and brighter.
The only response he received was the endless onslaught of seagrass.
He swung his trident repeatedly.
He severed the seagrass binding his clansmen, slashed the seagrass rising from beneath his feet, and chopped down the seagrass pressing from above. For every single strand he cut, ten more rushed in to take its place.
For every clansman he managed to free, three, thirty, or three hundred more were instantly ensnared again.
His movements grew faster and faster, his trident leaving streaks of dark green light in the deep sea.
The light streaks merged together, forming an impenetrable defensive net around him.
The seagrass slammed into the defensive net, only to be shredded into pieces.
Yet, before the debris could drift away, new seagrass surged forward.
He could hear the shrill screams of his clansmen echoing from all corners of the tribe.
Some cried out for help, some shrieked in agony, and some were cut off mid-scream, falling silent forever.
These voices rushed at him from all directions, boring into his ears and drilling into his mind.
His vertical pupils flared with intense light, the dark green glow practically spilling out of them.
But the seagrass was simply endless.
He charged into a half-collapsed building.
Inside, over a dozen young Sea Snakes were ensnared by seagrass, struggling desperately.
He swung his trident to slice the seagrass, dragging the younglings out one by one.
Just as he pulled the last one free, the roof of the building was ripped away by the seagrass, and the entire structure collapsed.
Debris crashed onto his back, but he shielded the younglings in his arms, using his own body to block the falling stones.
The younglings trembled violently in his embrace.
Placing them in a relatively safe corner, he turned and rushed toward the next spot.
Time ticked away, second by second.
Ethan stood motionless at the top of the undersea ridge. Beneath his feet, the seagrass continued to divide, spread, and slaughter.
His gaze remained locked on Snake, watching the eight-meter-tall figure dart left and right through the ruins of the tribe, tirelessly rescuing his trapped clansmen.
Snake's breathing grew heavy and ragged.
The muscles in his arms trembled uncontrollably.
His emotions shifted from rage to sheer, desperate fury.
He saw his tribe reduced to ruins.
He saw his clansmen crushed into bloody fragments by the seagrass.
He saw the bones of those younglings snapped by the tightening vines.
He couldn't save everyone.
He couldn't save them!!!
He could only watch helplessly.
Watch as the seagrass, usually so soft and tender, transformed into a peerless, monstrous force of destruction.
Hanging his clansmen up, one by one.
Hanging them up.
He wanted to save them. He wanted to save them so badly!!!
But he couldn't!
He just couldn't!!!
He was incredibly fast, capable of crossing from one end of the settlement to the other in the blink of an eye.
He was incredibly strong, capable of slicing through three thousand strands of seagrass in an instant.
But...
...it was still not enough!
There was too much seagrass!
Far too much!
And there were too many clansmen!
He couldn't save them all!
He couldn't!
An hour later, even with the Red-Scaled Sea Snakes trying to rescue one another and a Second-Tier Sea Snake rushing everywhere to help, their efforts were still a drop in the bucket.
As for the First-Tier Sea Snakes?
Ethan had already targeted and eliminated them beforehand.
After all, having gone through so much trouble to set this up, he couldn't let them ruin his plans.
Now,
one by one,
row by row,
patch by patch.
Tens of millions of Red-Scaled Sea Snakes were hoisted into the air by the seagrass.
Whether they were in humanoid, half-human half-snake, or full sea snake form, their bodies were completely wrapped in seagrass.
The seagrass cut deep into the gaps between their scales, choking their necks and binding their tails.
They hung suspended above the tribe, densely packing the entire field of vision.
Every single strand of seagrass was pulled taut.
Every single strand bound them with extreme tightness.
The suspended Sea Snakes continued to struggle—some tried to claw at the seagrass, some tried to bite through it with their teeth, and others thrashed their bodies to break free. Yet, the seagrass remained completely motionless.
Tens of millions of Sea Snakes hung in midair, their scales reflecting a dark red luster under the sickly green fluorescence of the luminous pearls.
Crammed and piled on top of one another, they blanketed the seabed across several hundred square kilometers.
Looking down from the top of the undersea ridge, the entire ruined tribe resembled a colossal forest composed entirely of the bodies of the Sea Snake tribe.
It was a magnificent, terrifying sight.
