【Obtained 5 intelligence.】

As expected!

Xu Xiaoyou felt a faint excitement stir within her.

The sensation of her body resonating with the fire element earlier hadn't been an illusion. Bai Youyou really could help her summon fireballs and assist her in constructing a bridge between her body and the elements.

She had even gained points in her most scarce attribute: intelligence. Generally, a person's intelligence attribute was fixed from the moment of birth; it was very difficult to increase through postnatal training.

A person's thinking, judgment, decision-making abilities, sanity, and mental power were all closely linked to their intelligence.

Xu Xiaoyou spread her hand, and a dancing flame emerged from her palm.

Even without relying on a skill card, she could now mobilize the fire elements in the air at any time.

It wasn't just the fire element; she could also sense other faint elements in the air, though she had no way to condense or mobilize them for the time being.

Suppressing her inner thrill for now, Xu Xiaoyou surreptitiously extinguished the flame in her palm.

"Yuzu, you..."

"I never said I wasn't a mage-type class," Xu Xiaoyou said.

Bai Youyou was left dazed by the bluff.

She tried hard to think about it for a long while, but in the end, she couldn't find any loopholes in the other's words.

'She really is as simple as they come. If only everyone was as easy to fool as her,' Xu Xiaoyou thought to herself.

Fearing that the investigator might actually figure something out, Xu Xiaoyou followed up with:

"Alright, today's training is about done. Can you help me with one more small favor?"

..........

In the evening.

Xu Xiaoyou knocked on a family's door.

A tall fixer with a face full of scars and a fierce expression opened the door and poked his head out.

A stench of blood hit them. Peering through the gaps around his silhouette into the house, one could see mottled bloodstains all over the walls and blood-spattered torture devices hanging there.

At a glance, he was clearly a murderous psychopath with a twisted hobby and dozens of lives on his hands!

Looking down at the young girl who barely reached his waist, he let out a cold laugh, his tone laced with contempt:

"What is it?"

"Pay back the money," Xu Xiaoyou said bluntly. "You borrowed a sum from Universal Heavy Industries last month. The repayment date passed ten days ago. Do you intend to default on your debt?"

"Debt collection?" The fixer was amused, looking down at the girl who was practically tiny to him.

"Do you know who I am? Go ask around at the slaughterhouse. People out there call me the 'Bloody Butcher.' Do you believe that I—"

Before he could finish his sentence, he saw a black-haired girl slowly step out from behind Xu Xiaoyou. Upon seeing the scene inside the large man's house, her cold red eyes instantly darkened.

Even though Bai Youyou was wearing casual clothes, the burly man recognized her at a glance as the three-winged investigator from the news.

There was no need to explain what a three-winged investigator meant to fixers like them, who lived on the edge of a blade and frequently committed murder and robbery.

He reflexively tried to close the door, but Bai Youyou suddenly reached out and pressed her hand against it. The force was so great that a terrifying imprint was crushed into the iron door, and it slammed against the wall with a massive crash.

The burly man was nearly scared out of his wits.

What kind of international joke was this?!

He roared in his heart, 'What right does a debt-collecting corpo dog have to be followed by a three-winged investigator??'

"If you have something to say, come back to the guard bureau with me..."

"Youyou, I know him. He's actually an actor. The slaughterhouse is his film set, and Bloody Butcher is his stage name," Xu Xiaoyou intervened appropriately to smooth things over. "This room is actually where they usually film, and the minced meat on that grinder is just a prop."

"Right, right, right!"

"Eh, I'm an actor!"

The burly man acted as if he'd caught a life-saving straw, hurriedly nodding like a chicken pecking at grain in line with Xu Xiaoyou's words.

"I was just messing around just now. I have a scene tomorrow, just doing some impromptu acting practice."

Bai Youyou looked confused.

Strange. Why were there so many people filming movies in this Corrupt Hive City lately?

"I'm sorry. I'll pay you for the cost of repairing the door."

"No, no, no need to pay, it doesn't matter! Your Excellency Investigator is so busy with work every day maintaining the city's security; it's normal to be a bit sensitive."

"How much do I owe? I'll pay it back right now, right now!"

The burly man's attitude did a complete 180-degree turn. There wasn't a trace of his former arrogant demeanor left.

At that moment, the corners of Xu Xiaoyou's mouth curled slightly as she held up five fingers:

"Five thousand credit points."

The burly man's eyes widened. "Five thousand!?"

He remembered that he had only borrowed three thousand credit points from Universal Heavy Industries last month.

'Good kid, you're hiking up the price on the spot, aren't you!'

'Just because you have a three-winged investigator backing you up, you've completely lost your shame?'

"Could you perhaps double-check with your superiors? Is it really five thousand..." The burly man's smile was strained.

Xu Xiaoyou thought for a moment, then nodded.

"Mm, I remembered wrong."

"It's six thousand."

The burly man gulped hard. He felt incredibly indignant and wanted nothing more than to tear the girl in front of him apart, but hindered by the oppressive figure behind her, he could only swallow his grievances along with his shattered pride.

"Six thousand it is."

After settling the three thousand through online channels, he pulled another three thousand credit points in cash out of his pocket and stuffed it into Xu Xiaoyou's hand with a fawning smile, terrified that she might raise the price again.

"Take care on your way out."

Xu Xiaoyou smiled back, patting the man's face with the stack of cash. "Look at you, being all sensible."

"I'll cover for you next time."

Bai Youyou watched all of this play out, not understanding what kind of little game they were playing.

After sending the two away, the burly man wailed at the sky:

"You absolute bastard! Damn bastard!"

The city's night now had one more heartbroken soul.

In a certain abandoned warehouse, two gangs were in the middle of a fierce gunfight.

They held all sorts of firearms, hiding behind cover and occasionally leaning out to shoot at each other.

Gunshots rang out continuously, flames flashed, interspersed with the explosions of grenades and the sound of people cursing each other's families.

"Fuck, Flat-headed Badger! You just came to my turf to cause trouble last month, and you dare to come back this month! What the hell do you want!"

"Damn it, Tattooed Arm Tiger, why don't you talk about how you sent people to kidnap my girl?"

"You think you guys are getting out of here alive!"

"Everyone's fucking dying here tonight!"

Behind a floating van, a fierce-looking gang member stood up, loaded a rocket into the launcher in his hand, and aimed at the person who had just been shouting at him from the opposite side:

"Look, your mom is flying in the sky!"

A rocket trailing a long red tail of fire flew out, circled in the air, and exploded with a brilliant flash among the rival gang members. The impact of the blast flipped an entire vehicle over, crushing a large group of people.

Another few dozen fully armed gang members ran in from outside the warehouse, carrying various thermal weapons and unloading ammunition like it was free.

"Eat my Sweetheart Big Dic!"

A gang member covered in an exoskeleton suit stood up from the crowd, veins bulging on his beefy arms as he hoisted a Gatling machine gun. The barrels spun frantically, and a storm of bullets rained down on the opposite cover, shredding it to pieces.

There were screams and retreats; the faint-hearted gang members huddled behind cover with their ears covered, too terrified to move.

Just as the situation was about to spiral out of control, the warehouse doors were blown open with a loud bang!

Both sides were stunned and stopped their fire simultaneously as if by mutual agreement.

They stared wide-eyed as a blonde girl waved away the dust in front of her face and walked into the warehouse with an air of entitlement, the flames in her palm gradually dying out.
