At this moment, everyone watched with curiosity as the people from Turing City set up their equipment.
Even for the noble Inner City people, these things fell completely outside their realm of knowledge.
The back of that truck looked like a miniature workshop. Several thick mechanical arms extended from the roof, driving metal stakes into the ground one after another.
Blue fiber-optic cables connected the stakes. Once the cables were powered on, a pale blue light barrier lit up around the entire perimeter of the camp.
Next, large black blocks were wheeled out. When their buttons were pressed, they emitted a loud, rumbling noise.
“What is that?” Bai Feifei asked subconsciously as she listened to the rumbling. “It’s not going to explode, is it?”
In her mind, Xu Mo said casually, “That's called a generator. It's not dangerous.”
“What about that white tower?”
“That's a signal transceiver,” Xu Mo replied.
“And...”
Having finally found some free time, Bai Feifei curiously asked about everything she saw.
These questions thoroughly satisfied Xu Mo's sense of superiority, and he showed a rare patience as he explained them all.
As they spoke, Bai Feifei suddenly felt something was off.
Why would an Evil God of the Old Days be so knowledgeable about these cutting-edge human creations?
She asked tentatively, “You seem to know a lot about those things?”
“Of course,” Xu Mo's tone instantly rose, laced with a hint of pride.
“As an Old-Timer, this is basic knowledge, alright?”
Bai Feifei: “...”
This Evil God really has a bizarre sense of superiority...
The team from Turing City busied themselves for about half an hour, setting up and testing all the equipment.
“All set,” said the engineer who had first spoken to Liu Yun. He then looked toward the crowd.
“Everyone participating in the assessment, you may come up now to collect your gear.”
With a wave of his hand, several Turing City technicians wheeled out metal carts.
Row after row of metal boxes sat on the carts.
The boxes contained two items: one was a silver disc the size of a brooch, and the other was a metal wristband with a small screen embedded on its surface.
The engineer began to explain their basic functions:
“The brooch is a vital signs monitor and camera. It will transmit everyone's physical condition and first-person perspective in real-time.”
“The wristband is a tracker and point recorder. It serves a dual purpose: location tracking and contribution points recording.”
After speaking, he left on his own. Liu Yun walked to the front of the crowd and spoke:
“Before you collect your gear, I will announce the final rules of the Graduation Show.”
The students from all the academies instantly fell silent. Standing in place, they turned in unison to look at her.
“Starting tomorrow morning, students from all academies will head out separately deep into the uninhabited zone of the North District. You will explore on your own, kill aberrations, and investigate any unknown anomalies.”
“The wristbands on your wrists will update your points in real-time based on the aberrations you kill or the valuable anomalies you discover. In the end, we will compile both individual and academy rankings.”
“The duration is three days. During these three days, the logistics personnel will wait here, while the instructors will follow covertly, protecting their respective students from the shadows.”
“Pressing the distress button on your wristband is equivalent to voluntarily forfeiting. Someone will come to rescue you. However, if your leading instructor steps in to save you on their own initiative, you will also be disqualified.”
She paused, her gaze sweeping across the faces of everyone present. “Your location information and real-time perspective can all be viewed on the camp's live monitors.”
“No matter what happens, life comes first! Do not try to show off!”
“Are there any questions?”
“No!” the students shouted in unison.
The Turing City technician responsible for distributing the gear was a young man wearing goggles. He walked up to Bai Feifei and casually handed her a set of equipment.
“Take this. I'll show you how to wear it in a bit.”
Bai Feifei froze for a moment. Just then, Liu Yun spoke up from the side:
“Don't give her the student gear. She is the overall safety director with the highest clearance for this Graduation Show.”
Hearing this, the technician looked up in shock.
“The overall safety director with the highest clearance?”
Looking Bai Feifei up and down, he almost suspected he had misheard. He said with amazement:
“You... are really young.”
“In that case, your gear is different from the others.”
With that, he ran over to another cart and handed a different specification of wristband to Bai Feifei.
“This is the highest-clearance device,” he introduced. “In addition to the standard points tracking, positioning, and perspective transmission, your equipment has two special features.”
“First, you can check the location of all students on your screen at any time.”
“Second, you have the highest response priority for distress signals. That means if any student presses the emergency distress button, you will receive an alert.”
After he finished explaining, Bai Feifei curiously picked up the two devices and began to play with them, fascinated by the novelty.
In the distance, Liu Yun looked at her seriously and said:
“Teacher Bai.”
“I'll be counting on you for the students' safety this time!”
...
The next day, dappled morning light crept across the ruins, illuminating the barren red soil.
The students gathered at the camp's exit, whispering about the challenges they were about to face and checking their gear.
Tian Guannan stood on a high platform and blew his whistle sharply.
The shrill sound tore through the silence.
“Move out! Plan your own tactics and execute your own actions. Remember, you have three days!”
The students took deep breaths, scattering in small groups and pouring into the red soil region in various directions.
The same went for Qingping Academy. Once they were ready, Ye Yu turned and waved to Bai Feifei. “Don't worry! We'll definitely take first place!”
Bai Feifei smiled and nodded.
The academy instructors were not supposed to enter at the same time as the students. They could only protect them from the shadows and could not intervene directly.
Of course, at this point, Qingping Academy's accompanying instructor had been temporarily changed to Wan Qianhong, while Bai Feifei was the overall director.
Once only a few scattered figures remained in sight, Bai Feifei and Wan Qianhong, both part of the instructor group, set off together, walking side-by-side into the red wasteland.
After walking for a few minutes, the crowd behind them was no longer visible.
Right then, Wan Qianhong suddenly moved. She reached out and grabbed Bai Feifei's wrist.
Bai Feifei: ?
Bai Feifei shuddered and instinctively turned to look at Wan Qianhong.
The next second, her ears suddenly buzzed.
Something vibrated deep within her blood vessels, and then Wan Qianhong's voice abruptly echoed.
The voice resonated directly from the vibrations of her blood! It felt as if someone was speaking right against her bones.
“Bai Feifei,” Wan Qianhong's voice was extremely cautious, “I have something to tell you.”
Hearing this, Bai Feifei couldn't help but stiffen.
Wan Qianhong's pupils trembled slightly. Making this decision seemed to require immense resolve, and she was biting her lower lip.
“I think... my mentor, Liu Yun, might have some issues.”
