Chapter 181 | My Avatar Is Becoming a God

Aberrations could undergo a secondary aberration?

Seeing that things were going south, the students from Yaoguang Academy instantly panicked.

More and more stone aberrations gathered as rocks split open one after another from the surrounding rubble. Every single one of them was an aberration, and their bodies began to glow with a purple light.

These students had never seen such a terrifying sight. Just moments ago, they had been putting on a show of tactical coordination, but now their ranks were in utter chaos.

Someone slashed outward, but the aberration easily dodged with its bulky body, countered with a heavy slam, and knocked the weapon right out of his hand.

Several girls screamed as they retreated, swinging their weapons wildly and aimlessly. Their strikes hit the aberrations but failed to leave even a scratch.

Terrified, many of them turned to Fang Yang and yelled:

“Fang Yang! What the hell is going on?!”

“Why are they suddenly getting stronger? Didn't you say...”

How was Fang Yang supposed to know? His own legs were shaking like leaves!

In their understanding, they had never heard of an aberration that could enter a second phase. Facing this level of intensity on their very first encounter was indeed incredibly troublesome.

He had thought they were only running into easy targets because of the leaked information. How did things turn out like this?

...

In the monitoring room, everyone stared at the various screens, their expressions grim.

The secondary enhancement of the aberrations on Yaoguang Academy's side was clearly abnormal.

Moreover, this Graduation Show assessment had exposed the students' true capabilities all too clearly.

Weren't there rumors that Yaoguang had produced many geniuses this year?

Their combat skills and mental fortitude were frankly pathetic.

Liu Yun stared at the screen, her brow furrowing deeper.

She was paying closer attention to the aberrations' unusual combat style.

Normal low-level aberrations shouldn't be able to dodge, coordinate, or even use feints.

It felt as if they possessed human souls, showing a distinct combat awareness.

She suddenly recalled what had happened earlier. The contestant who had been brutally killed by Bai Feifei had mentioned something about an "experiment."

She turned to Xie Xuan and asked hesitantly,

“Mr. Xie, did those traitors of yours include researchers? What exactly were they studying?”

Xie Xuan's expression instantly turned cold, his eyes filled with undisguised disgust.

“They don't deserve to be called researchers!”

After a brief pause, he decided there was no point in hiding it and continued,

“When they defected back then, they stole Turing City's most taboo Containment Object.”

“They were studying things related to the essence of life. In reality, the taboo nature and danger of that research are not a single bit inferior to an Evil God!”

Liu Yun's heart sank.

Before she could speak again, another scream echoed from the screen. A student had his leg bone snapped by a collision, and he collapsed to the ground, howling until his voice cracked.

The shriek sounded worse than a pig being scalded with boiling water. As he wailed, he frantically slapped the distress button on his wrist.

...

Bai Feifei stared blankly for a moment at the distress signal that popped up on her smartwatch.

It had only been a few minutes since she killed Wang Gaofeng. Something had gone wrong already?

Xu Mo cursed in her mind, “Are they really that useless? They fold the moment they run into some aberrations?”

Bai Feifei was still relatively responsible. Without much hesitation, she immediately rushed toward the signal's location.

At the same time, another figure received the alert.

It was Feng Guozhi, the leading instructor from Yaoguang Academy. As a Rank 5 Scavenger, he possessed plenty of combat experience.

He had been stealthily tailing the people from Dawn City all along. Having just received the message, he quickly landed right in front of the students.

Grabbing the collapsed student to pull him out of harm's way, he looked incredibly displeased.

He actually knew a thing or two about the cheating, but the students' pathetic performance still made him feel they were far too weak-willed.

“Stop wailing!” Feng Guozhi barked coldly. “Bandage your wound and apply healing medicine, now!”

Once he confirmed the student's life wasn't in danger, he turned his attention to the surrounding aberrations.

These things look highly unusual...

Feng Guozhi frowned, but his hands didn't idle.

After quickly organizing the students to retreat, he immediately drew his long blade.

With so many students present, he needed to use his finishing moves to end this quickly.

Lunging forward, he unleashed a brilliant arc of blade light that swept down, aiming straight for the head of the nearest aberration!

But right at that moment...

Clang!

A flying knife whistled through the air, grazing past his blade to embed itself deep into the aberration's skull, ending its life just a split second before his own killing blow could land.

Filthy blood splattered as the aberration went limp and collapsed.

Feng Guozhi whipped his head around.

Bai Feifei was jumping down from a broken wall, her hand still frozen in the throwing pose as she felt the experience points flow into her body.

When the students from Yaoguang Academy saw Bai Feifei, they instinctively took half a step back.

But taking that step back brought them closer to the aberrations, so they quickly shuffled forward again.

To them, the sight of this woman was barely any less terrifying than the aberrations themselves.

Feng Guozhi's expression instantly darkened.

Yaoguang Academy and Bai Feifei had always been on terrible terms.

Now, after their students had already humiliated themselves, they actually had to be saved by her, which made him feel even worse.

Besides, what was with her swooping in to steal the kill? Was she trying to provoke him?

“Teacher Bai,” Feng Guozhi said, planting his long blade into the ground. “You can go handle other areas. I have things under control here.”

Bai Feifei heard him, but her feet didn't budge.

She simply turned her head to look ahead.

Having arrived, she could tell at a glance that the state of these aberrations was very similar to humans who had overdosed on potions.

Considering this issue had cropped up right after she killed Wang Gaofeng, it naturally invited suspicion.

“Heh, their people certainly move fast,” Xu Mo remarked in her mind.

He had, of course, already experienced this kind of enhanced aberration state in his previous playthroughs of the game.

Just back then, he had assumed it was due to some unknown cause. But looking at it now, it was likely the doing of Wang Gaofeng's faction.

Hearing this, Bai Feifei nodded. With the Old-Timer's confirmation, she absolutely couldn't leave.

Although the Feng Guozhi before her was a Rank 5 Scavenger, Bai Feifei still felt he fell short when it came to handling an event capable of destroying Dawn City.

More importantly, she didn't dare to easily trust anyone right now!

Who knew which of these Inner City people might be compromised?

Looking at Feng Guozhi, she didn't bother trying to sound polite and simply spoke with blunt honesty: “I don't think you are capable of handling this.”
