“Bingbing, Bingbing.”
Liu Yi was in a hazy sleep when a voice suddenly called out in her ear.
Opening her eyes and turning her head slightly, she saw the Ice Fox sitting upright by her pillow.
The Ice Fox was currently quite small, its fur a blend of silver and blue that faintly shimmered with a pale blue light. Its eyes were purple, sparkling with an intelligent glow. Its tail was fluffy, the tip glinting with a hint of silver as if touched by frost and snow.
“Ziyue, good morning.” Liu Yi slowly sat up, crossed her legs, and reached out to stroke the Ice Fox's head.
Seeing Liu Yi’s hand, the Ice Fox proactively leaned its head into her palm, half-closing its eyes in enjoyment.
As she stroked the fox, Liu Yi’s thoughts drifted to the dream she had just had.
For some reason, fifteen years after arriving in this world, she had dreamt of the events preceding her arrival once again.
Back then, after the successful card draw, Liu Yi had been dropped at the entrance of an orphanage in this world in the form of an infant.
This world was one where everyone tamed beasts. It consisted of several continents, each home to dozens of countries.
Liu Yi was currently in Yan Country on the Saint Card East Asia Continent.
When she was five years old, she was adopted by the Liu family because the then eleven-year-old Liu Ran wanted a younger sister.
Now, ten years later, Liu Yi had graduated from middle school.
The two-month summer break between middle school and high school was the time designated by the World Beast Taming Association for humans to undergo the unified awakening of their Beast Taming Space.
Once the Beast Taming Space was awakened, one could contract their first pet and register with the association as a Trainee Beast Tamer.
Liu Yi’s fingers absentmindedly twirled around the Ice Fox's ear. The cool sensation reminded her of the day the fox hatched half a month ago.
That was also the day the high school entrance exams ended. Upon returning home, Liu Yi had witnessed the moment the pet egg cracked.
With a small piece of eggshell still on its head, the Ice Fox had looked at her with wide, innocent eyes. Liu Yi was instantly captivated by those purple eyes and later named her Ziyue.
This Ice Fox egg was one of the rewards Liu Ran had won for becoming the champion of the Luohai Regional Tournament. She had brought it home, saying it was a gift for her dear sister to be her first contracted pet after awakening.
In the records of the World Beast Taming Association, the Ice Fox’s racial grade limit was the Sovereign rank. According to the ranks—Junior, Intermediate, Advanced, Peak, King, Emperor, Sovereign, Saint, and Supreme—the Ice Fox was an exceptional choice for a first pet.
Today was July 7th, the day Liu Yi was scheduled to go to the Beast Taming Association for her awakening.
After her exams, Liu Yi had already registered and made an appointment online. Each regional association would schedule a specific number of people for awakening each day and notify them via phone or text a week in advance.
“Xiao Yi, Ziyue, come out for breakfast,” called Auntie Chen, the live-in housekeeper.
Liu Yi snapped out of her thoughts and gently picked up Ziyue, placing the fox on her shoulder. Ziyue skillfully wrapped her tail around Liu Yi’s neck like a soft scarf.
“Let’s go, we shouldn’t keep Auntie Chen waiting.” Liu Yi opened her door, did a quick wash in the bathroom, and walked into the living room.
Auntie Chen brought over a steaming breakfast and asked, “Xiao Yi, you’re awakening your Beast Taming Space today. Are you nervous?”
“A little.” Liu Yi sat down at the table, and Ziyue jumped into her designated spot.
Auntie Chen’s pet, a Fluffy Butler, used its telekinesis to timely place a bottle of nutritional fluid for newborn pets in front of Ziyue.
“Both of you should eat up. Today is an important day,” Auntie Chen said, sitting down while holding her Fluffy Butler. “Xiao Ran said she’d rush back today to accompany you. You should see her when you get to the association.”
Liu Yi nodded. “Mhm, I know.”
Auntie Chen took out a small black box and handed it to Liu Yi. “This is an awakening gift from your parents. After all, they’ve been exploring secret realms all over since Xiao Ran became a Beast Tamer.”
“They never know when they’ll be out, so they can’t guarantee they’ll witness your awakening. They prepared this gift in advance for me to give to you.”
Liu Yi opened the box to find a black wristwatch inside.
Auntie Chen explained, “This is the World Edition Beast Encyclopedia. If you ever get the chance to visit other continents in the future, you won’t need to buy local versions.”
Liu Yi put on the watch and aimed it at the Fluffy Butler. The watch face flashed, and a 360-degree rotating projection of the Fluffy Butler appeared above it.
【Fluffy Butler, Fairy + Psychic type pet, Intermediate stage. It has a round, ball-like body about half a meter tall, covered in soft, cloud-like white fur. The color of its fur changes based on its emotions: it glows pink when happy, turns blue when tired, and puffs out into a bright red when angry. It has a gentle personality and a strong sense of responsibility, possessing a maternal instinct toward young creatures. It is highly suitable as a domestic housekeeper pet.】
“Rongrong!” Hearing the encyclopedia’s voice, the Fluffy Butler’s fur gradually turned pink.
Auntie Chen chuckled. “Tuanzi is happy because the encyclopedia praised it at the end.”
Liu Yi was also amused by the Fluffy Butler’s reaction.
After breakfast, Liu Yi returned to her room to prepare her gear. She adjusted the strap of the World Edition Beast Encyclopedia and checked the essentials in her backpack: newborn pet nutritional fluid, C-grade pet energy fluid, her ID card, and a water bottle.
Just then, her phone vibrated. A message popped up on the screen:
【How do you know I have a sister: Yi-bao, I’ve arrived at the association. I’m waiting for you in the Awakening Hall.】
Liu Yi’s eyes lit up, and she immediately picked up Ziyue. “Let’s go, Sister is here.”

The building of the Longwu Regional Beast Taming Association was magnificent, featuring a streamlined design with the exterior walls decorated with various pet reliefs.
Liu Yi entered the Awakening Hall, which was already filled with teenagers her age waiting for their numbers to be called.
She went to the terminal, entered her identification info, and received a number.
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from behind her: “Yi-bao, did you miss your sister?”
Turning around, she saw a tall girl standing behind her. Liu Ran was wearing a water-patterned jacket, a deep blue earring in her left ear, and her long hair had a healthy sheen.
Beside her stood the first pet she had contracted, a Spirit Song Mermaid Queen that had already reached the King rank.
