The afternoon training continued.
Liu Yi took Ziyue and Chiying to challenge a more difficult battle zone.
There were eight floating islands, each with different movement speeds and trajectories, and every three minutes, all the floating islands would rearrange themselves.
Liu Yi maneuvered her maglev skateboard into the air.
After Ziyue and Chiying entered the zone, she quickly observed the movement patterns of the eight floating islands.
Four rotated clockwise, three bobbed up and down, and one moved along an irregular figure-eight trajectory.
“Ziyue, first use Ice Blade to attack that figure-eight floating island,” she commanded.
Ziyue understood, traversing between the floating islands on her Frost Path, while twelve Ice Blades shot out.
That floating island was moving along the figure-eight trajectory, its speed fluctuating.
Ziyue’s first wave of Ice Blades all missed, but she quickly adjusted her angle, and three Ice Blades from the second wave hit.
“Good, keep adapting,” Liu Yi observed from above, communicating with Ziyue. “Remember the rhythm of the floating island’s movement. Don’t just look at its current position; predict where it will be in the next second.”
Ziyue nodded, closed her eyes for a moment to sense, then opened them again.
This time, her movements were more composed, and the accuracy of her Ice Blades steadily improved.
Chiying, meanwhile, constantly changed positions in the air, attempting to unleash skills from different altitudes. It discovered that the skill accuracy was highest when diving and attacking from directly above, as the floating islands’ vertical movements had the least impact on vertical attacks.
Time flew by amidst the intense training.
...
At six in the evening, the setting sun painted the entire cluster of floating islands crimson and gold.
The members of the Tianqi School Team finished their day of adaptive training, dragging their weary bodies back to the Cloud Dream Hotel.
Wei Xiuyu told everyone to go to the restaurant for dinner while she went to the Beast Tamer Association to collect tomorrow’s battle schedule.
In the hotel’s exclusive restaurant, the School Team members sat in small groups, discussing their training experiences from the day.
Li Chengying slumped on the table, saying weakly, “My legs are practically useless. After riding the maglev skateboard all day, I feel like I’m floating.”
“You’re just hungry,” Gao Xue said expressionlessly, pushing a plate of food towards her. “You’ll feel better after eating something.”
Wei Tan'an carried her tray and sat across from Liu Yi, her expression somewhat complex. “Today I saw people from Fugang Beast Taming High School at the training ground. That Pei Yingwu… he’s certainly a bit special.”
“Special?” Li Chengying immediately perked up. “How so?”
“He didn’t release his Nightblade Wolf at all today,” Wei Tan'an said in a low voice. “Everyone else was training, but he just stood on the sidelines watching, occasionally riding his skateboard, but never letting his pet participate in training. Some people were whispering that his Nightblade Wolf simply doesn’t listen to his commands, and he can’t do anything about it.”
Ouyang Qin walked over with her coffee, saying blandly, “That kind of situation is quite common. With an inherited Advanced pet, if the Beast Tamer’s own strength isn’t sufficient, it’s difficult to establish a true bond. Even if the Nightblade Wolf were to enter the arena, it might not fully cooperate with him.”
Liu Yi nodded thoughtfully, continuing to eat the food on her plate. Ziyue crouched at her feet, diligently licking the Arctic Frostfall in her bowl, her two tails swaying leisurely. Chiying hovered beside her, nibbling small bites of energy jerky.
Just then, the restaurant door was pushed open.
Wei Xiuyu strode in, holding a stack of printed papers. Her expression was as calm as ever, but the School Team members who knew her well could sense a hint of scrutiny within that calm.
“Has everyone eaten enough?” She scanned the room, then walked to the empty area in the center of the restaurant. “If you’re full, come over. I’m announcing tomorrow’s battle schedule.”
The restaurant instantly fell silent. Everyone put down their cutlery and quickly gathered around Wei Xiuyu.
Wei Xiuyu distributed the papers she held, simultaneously pulling up a holographic projection on her phone, displaying the first day’s battle schedule in the air.
A dense list appeared before everyone’s eyes, arranged by school, grade, and name, with battle time, arena number, and opponent information marked alongside.
“All matches in the first week will use same-grade matching,” Wei Xiuyu’s voice echoed through the restaurant. “That means first-years fight first-years, second-years fight second-years, and third-years fight third-years.”
She paused, her gaze sweeping over the team members present. “This means that your opponents for the first seven days will have strength comparable to yours, at least by grade. But don’t let your guard down; there are still stronger and weaker individuals within the same grade.”
Everyone lowered their heads to check their battle information.
Liu Yi took the paper, her gaze quickly scanning the text.

“Iron Claw Weasel…” Liu Yi softly uttered the name, sliding her finger across the screen to access the Beast Tamer Association’s database.
【Iron Claw Weasel, a Fighting + Steel-type pet, Junior stage. Approximately 0.6 meters long, with yellowish-brown fur. Its forelimbs are covered in metallic claws that can easily tear through steel plates. It has a combative nature and strong territorial instincts, often nesting in mountainous rocky areas. Racial potential: Emperor rank.】
【Skills it may initially learn: Metal Claw (Steel-type C-rank), Rock Smash (Fighting-type C-rank), Foresight (Fighting-type C-rank), etc.】
【Traits: Keen Eye (accuracy will not decrease) or Steadfast (speed increases when flinching)】
Ziyue leaned closer, staring at the yellowish-brown small beast on the screen, a flicker of curiosity in her purple eyes.
“Bingbing?”
She chirped, as if asking, “Is this tomorrow’s opponent?”
“Mm-hmm,” Liu Yi rubbed Ziyue’s head. “Fighting and Steel attribute skills deal double damage to Ice-types, but it’s only at the Junior stage, and the opponent only has one pet.”
According to the rules of the National High School League, each contestant can choose two pets to battle in a 1v1 format. The match ends when both pets of one contestant are incapacitated.
However, for the vast majority of first-year new students, their Beast Taming Space development progress is still between 10%-15%, and they only have one pet.
Liu Yi was an exception.
Li Chengying also suddenly leaned over, curiously glancing at the battle schedule in Liu Yi’s hand. “Iron Claw Weasel? Fighting + Steel-type? That guy’s luck isn’t so good, running into you in the first match.”
