Jinyao had just used a Fighting-type buff skill.
But wasn't the Blazing Lion a pure Fire-type?
Liu Yi remembered clearly that the Blazing Lion, from its Junior stage to its Blazing Lion evolution, had always been a pure Fire-type throughout its entire evolution chain, never displaying any other attributes.
Jinyao didn't notice Liu Yi's pause, still focused on demonstrating its skills. After charging up, it turned its back towards Ziyue, its tail held high.
“Yanyan!”
It whipped its tail fiercely, the tip tracing a golden-red arc in the air, carrying an invisible impact force as it swept towards the area behind it.
Tail Sweep. A B-rank Fighting-type skill that sweeps forward with its tail, with a chance to inflict a Flinching status on the target.
The power of this skill was clearly much greater than the previous ones; the whooshing sound of Jinyao's tail was clearly audible, and a faint airflow trajectory could even be seen in the air.
Ziyue's fur ruffled slightly as it was swept by the airflow.
It looked down at the ruffled fur on its chest, then up at Jinyao, a hint of surprise flashing in its purple eyes.
“Bingbing?”
It chirped, tilting its head.
A B-rank skill?
Jinyao retracted its tail, standing in place, panting. Continuously unleashing four skills was quite taxing for it.
But it still forced itself to look up at Liu Yi, its golden eyes filled with anticipation.
“Yanyan!”
It chirped, its voice clearly seeking praise.
Aren't I amazing?!
“Very amazing,” Liu Yi said softly, her palm gently stroking Jinyao's back. “Extremely amazing.”
Jinyao's eyes lit up, and its tail wagged rapidly behind it.
Liu Yi recalled what Wei Xiuyu had said before leaving.
Was this the surprise Teacher Wei mentioned?
Jinyao quickly looked up at Liu Yi again and chirped.
“Yanyan!”
I want to practice more!
Liu Yi's fingers paused.
“That's enough for today,” she said. “You only hatched yesterday, you can't train too much.”
“Yanyan...”
Just one more time...
“No,” Liu Yi shook her head. “Ziyue, Chiying, you two can go train outside. I'll stay inside with Jinyao.”
“Bingbing!”
Ziyue chirped and turned to walk outside.
Chiying glanced at Jinyao, its tail swayed slightly, then it flew out after Ziyue.
The room fell silent, with only Jinyao squatting on Liu Yi's lap, its golden eyes fixed on her.
“Yanyan.”
It chirped, its voice very soft.
Will you stay with me?
“Mhm.” Liu Yi nodded, reaching out to rub Jinyao's head. “I'll stay with you.”
Jinyao's eyes narrowed into two crescent moons, and it rested its head in Liu Yi's palm.
Liu Yi smiled unconsciously, watching its antics.
But she knew that with Jinyao working so hard, she couldn't afford to slack off either.
Her Beast Taming Space development progress was still stuck at 29%, and no new contract slots had opened up. Although Jinyao could currently stay by her side without a contract, it wasn't a long-term solution.
Moreover, Jinyao clearly wanted to become her contracted pet.
From its chirped “It's you” upon hatching, to chasing her and asking “Why won't you contract me?”, Liu Yi saw its eagerness and anticipation.
She needed to speed up her progress.
Liu Yi gently picked Jinyao up and placed it on the sofa.
Jinyao was startled by her sudden movement, its golden eyes blinked, and just as it was about to chirp, it saw Liu Yi sitting cross-legged on the sofa, her eyes closed.
“Yanyan?”
Jinyao tilted its head, its golden eyes full of confusion.
Liu Yi's breathing gradually became long and steady, and her consciousness began to sink.
Jinyao squatted in the corner of the sofa, watching Liu Yi in her meditative state, its golden eyes blinking repeatedly.
After a while, it stood up from the sofa, carefully walked to Liu Yi's leg, and rested its head on her knee.
Liu Yi didn't react.
Jinyao's tail gently swayed.
It curled its body into a ball, pressing against Liu Yi's leg, and closed its eyes.
Liu Yi focused her attention on the boundaries of the space.
Those white boundaries rippled subtly the moment her consciousness touched them.
She could feel those boundaries expanding outwards.
The speed was very slow, almost imperceptible.
But they were indeed expanding.
Liu Yi poured all her attention into those boundaries, feeling every inch of space shift.
Time passed unnoticed.
....
Jinyao rolled over on the sofa.
It rolled off Liu Yi's knee, tumbled twice on the sofa, and almost fell off.
It groggily opened its eyes, its golden gaze still heavy with sleep.
It looked around, then abruptly sat up.
Jinyao jumped off the sofa, walked to the balcony door, and patted the door with its paw.
“Yanyan!”
It chirped, its voice carrying a hint of grievance.
Ziyue ran over from the balcony and saw Jinyao's pitiful expression through the glass door.
It pushed the door open and entered the room.
“Bingbing?”
What's wrong?
Jinyao looked up at Ziyue, its golden eyes full of unhappiness.
“Yanyan.”
Master is ignoring me.
Ziyue crouched down, its purple eyes looking at Jinyao.
“Bingbing.”
Master is meditating, not ignoring you.
Jinyao tilted its head.
“Yanyan?”
What's meditation?
Ziyue thought for a moment, then chirped.
“Bingbing.”
It's... it's training, just like our training.
Jinyao blinked.
“Yanyan?”
Why is Master training?
“Bingbing.”
After Master trains, she'll be able to contract you.
Jinyao's tail perked up.
“Yanyan!”
Then I'll go help!
Ziyue chirped, looking at its eager expression.
“Bingbing.”
No, Master has to do this herself.
Jinyao's tail stiffened.
“Yanyan...”
It chirped, its voice clearly disheartened.
Ziyue nudged its ear with its head, seeing its dejected look.
“Bingbing.”
Don't worry, Master will break through soon.
Jinyao swayed from the nudge but didn't dodge.
“Yanyan.”
Okay.
Chiying flew in from the balcony, landing on the back of the sofa. It glanced at Liu Yi, still meditating on the sofa, then at Jinyao, who was squatting dejectedly beside Ziyue.
“Mo.”
It chirped, its tone calm.
Don't disturb Master.
Jinyao looked up at Chiying.
“Yanyan.”
I wasn't disturbing her.
Chiying didn't reply, simply patted Jinyao's head lightly with its tail, then flew back to the balcony to continue training.
Jinyao froze for a moment after being patted, then turned to look at Ziyue.
“Yanyan?”
What did it mean?
Ziyue thought for a moment, then chirped.
“Bingbing.”
It wants you not to disturb Master; Master needs quiet.
Jinyao's mouth drooped.
“Yanyan...”
I wasn't disturbing her...
Seeing its aggrieved expression, Ziyue gently wrapped its tail around Jinyao's body, lifted it from the floor, and placed it on the sofa.
“Bingbing.”
Wait here, Master will be done soon.
Jinyao stood on the sofa for a moment, then lay down, resting its chin on its front paws, its golden eyes fixed on Liu Yi without blinking.
