The Corrupted Mountain Range, the Undead City.
Immediately upon Boka's death, Mosator had used the faith link between a God-Favored and a True God to fully copy the final segment of Boka's memories before his demise.
A black-robed figure. Golden eyes. An unfamiliar aura of divine power. And that single phrase—“This forest is claimed.”
Mosator remained silent for a long time.
“A God-Favored of an unknown True God?” “Or a newborn True God?”
He murmured softly, his mind filled with suspicion and gravity.
He did not believe things were that simple. The unfamiliar deity's God-Favored had revealed no information regarding the true existence behind them.
“Still, if they truly are a newborn True God, under what Divine Authority did they ascend? Besides, given the current power level of the continent of Aenoria, achieving godhood is no easy feat.”
Mosator's massive, dark-golden slitted pupils turned toward the Starfall Forest, as though trying to see right through the vast expanse of trees from top to bottom.
But then a question crossed his mind: if the other party had already achieved godhood, did that mean they had successfully gathered at least one complete Divine Spark?
A great many True Gods had fallen here in the divine war a thousand years ago, and their shattered Divine Sparks had mostly turned into Divine Spark Fragments.
Ever since being gravely injured by the Goddess of Light in the divine war a thousand years ago, Mosator had been trying to heal his wounds. One method to speed up his recovery was acquiring stronger and more numerous Divine Sparks. Even if those Divine Sparks were incompatible with his own Divine Authority, he could still comprehend certain laws from them, enhancing his mastery over higher Divine Authorities and boosting his power.
If he could find a Divine Spark tied to the Authority of Life, it would immensely accelerate his recovery—perhaps even allowing him to break through to Intermediate Divine Power in the future.
After all, he had languished at Lesser Divine Power for far too long.
“Even if they truly have ascended, their strength likely isn't great, and they must be terrified of other True Gods discovering their condition.”
Mosator immediately thought of how his avatar had been forcefully destroyed earlier.
That was clearly done to suppress the news.
At this thought, an itch began to stir within his heart.
“If I directly snatch the complete Divine Spark they've already collected, wouldn't my recovery speed accelerate even further?”
However...
He felt it safer to proceed with caution. His current condition was poor, after all; if both sides ended up severely wounded, the losses would far outweigh the gains.
How could he wear down the opponent's strength?
Mosator pondered for a moment, and his mind suddenly jumped to that group of humans who could resurrect.
Even if the opponent hadn't gained the Life Divine Authority, it had to be related to life.
“Hmph. Expending what little divine power they have to resurrect believers—I wonder if they're clever or foolish.”
It was true that believers provided faith to give True Gods divine power. But if a god consumed massive amounts of divine power to resurrect those believers, the net gain in divine power became negligible—especially for a newly born god.
Mosator surmised that the opponent's condition couldn't be good either. They might only possess a mere few hundred points of divine power.
Of course, it was also possible that the entity was a Subordinate God deliberately cultivated by some powerful True God.
But that possibility was minuscule. Although he admitted he had plenty of sworn enemies, none of them would go out of their way to foster a new god in the Starfall Forest just to spite him—especially one with a Life-related Divine Authority, not to mention that collecting Divine Spark Fragments was strictly forbidden.
“Hmm...” Mosator pondered for a moment and decided it was best to remain prudent. He extended his divine consciousness beyond the plane of Aenoria, quickly establishing contact with another entity.
...
The Divine Realm.
In the void.
Within a vast Divine Kingdom spanning three million square kilometers, countless troll Petitioners were praying feverishly toward the wild and desolate Divine Seat at the realm's center.
Their bodies radiated faint spiritual light. With every prayer, fine motes of light rose into the air, coalescing into invisible rivers of faith.
At the center of the Divine Kingdom stood that wild, desolate Divine Seat.
Upon the Divine Seat sat a tall grey figure, shrouded entirely in holy light.
The God of Riot and Barbarism—Orur.
As if sensing something, he opened his eyes.
“Oh? A newborn deity? An unknown Divine Authority?”
Orur's deep voice echoed throughout his Divine Kingdom, laced with intriguing interest.
A new god often signified Divine Sparks and Divine Authorities.
If he could seize the other party's Divine Spark, his own strength would increase significantly. Even if their Divine Authority had poor compatibility with his own, he could still comprehend certain laws from it, or perhaps nurture a Subordinate God. Either way would be beneficial.
“Indeed. What do you think? We join forces to take them down. When the time comes, I only want the Divine Spark related to life—the rest is yours.”
Mosator's calm voice echoed through the void, carrying precise temptation within his words.
Orur narrowed his eyes slightly upon hearing this. Rather than agreeing immediately, he spoke up:
“If the opponent is a newborn True God, their condition certainly isn't good—especially in the primary plane of Aenoria, where current power levels are so low. Why don't you handle them yourself?”
Mosator let out a sigh. “You surely know my condition. I suffered severe injuries in that divine war a thousand years ago, so I fear I cannot deal with them alone.”
Orur didn't buy his nonsense for a second. Back then, Mosator had been at the peak of Lesser Divine Power. Although being struck by the Goddess of Light had indeed inflicted catastrophic damage, a full thousand years had passed. His strength was bound to have recovered somewhat. Even if he hadn't reached his former peak, dealing with a newly ascended god should have been trivial.
Moreover, among so many True Gods, why approach Orur specifically? Besides, Orur's own strength was not impressive, barely reaching Lesser Divine Power himself.
Still, he wanted to hear what Mosator had to say. “In that case, what do you need me to do? And what are your conditions?”
“Rest assured, I won't make things difficult for you,” Mosator said slowly. “Don't your troll believers have a large tribe near the Starfall Forest? When the time comes, we launch a War of Faith against them simultaneously. With the strength of our believers, wiping out their followers will be effortless. Deprived of faith, the opponent will inevitably fall into extreme weakness, making it easy for us to strike and capture them.”
Orur responded in a lukewarm tone, “How can I trust you? After all, your main body resides in the primary plane of Aenoria while I am in the Divine Realm, and the planar passage between the Divine Realm and Aenoria is closed. If you eliminate them directly and claim the Divine Spark, I won't get a thing.”
“You can rest easy on that score. I swear upon the name of the Dragon God.”
Mosator spoke unhurriedly, knowing full well that the other party would accept.
After all, Orur was secretly collecting Divine Spark Fragments as well, which was precisely why his troll followers were stationed in a tribe on the outer edge of the Starfall Forest.
Although the exalted figures of the Supreme Temple had established a rule prohibiting the sending of believers into the Starfall Forest after the divine war a thousand years ago, as long as it wasn't exposed publicly, everyone turned a blind eye.
As for why the lords of the Supreme Temple had instituted such a rule, it was because that divine war a thousand years ago had severely damaged the planar origin of Aenoria. Without origin energy to repair it, the primary plane risked collapsing.
The optimal method of repair was naturally reducing the number of True Gods—or rather, allowing their Divine Sparks to return to heaven and earth. Indeed, once separated from a True God, a Divine Spark would slowly dissipate on its own, though the process was quite slow; specifically, the more powerful the Divine Spark, the slower it dissipated.
After that divine war, shattered Divine Spark Fragments were scattered all across Aenoria, but the heaviest concentration remained in the Starfall Forest.
Having spent a thousand years in the Corrupted Mountain Range near the Starfall Forest, Mosator was well aware of which divine factions had influence nearby—especially those True Gods who harbored the same ambitions as him.
Thus, the first deity Mosator thought of was his neighbor—Orur, the God of Riot and Barbarism.
Orur sneered. “The Dragon God?”
“So you still submit to his leadership? I thought you were no longer a Subordinate God of the Dragon Pantheon. After all, during the divine war a thousand years ago when the Goddess of Light was besieged, the Dragon God explicitly forbade participation. Yet you... hehe.”
Mosator remained silent for two seconds. “I am naturally a Subordinate God of His Grace the Dragon God.”
Orur was noncommittal. He didn't dwell on the matter, as doing so was meaningless.
“Does any other True God know about this?”
He shifted the topic.
“As far as I know, no,” Mosator answered without hesitation.
Orur pondered in silence. He had indeed been stuck at Lesser Divine Power for uncounted ages, longing to advance his strength. That was precisely why he had chosen to secretly send followers to gather Divine Spark Fragments.
Although he wished to gain more believers, the troll population was limited, incapable of providing much more faith.
As for spreading his faith to other races... he had tried that as well.
As a Subordinate God of the Destruction Pantheon, every subordinate deity had their own sphere of influence. Although cross-proselytizing was allowed to a degree, his influence was severely limited.
The Orc Empire also contained some of his followers, but their numbers were minuscule compared to the trolls.
Furthermore, that region was primarily the domain of his Main God, the God of Destruction. He dared not overstep, making it impossible to aggressively spread his faith there.
Not to mention that his own Divine Authority of Riot was merely a lesser Divine Authority granted to him by the God of Destruction.
“Understood. I will dispatch my believers to launch a War of Faith against this newborn deity. I hope you keep your promise.”
Orur agreed.
“In that case, I wish us a pleasant collaboration,” Mosator replied.
Mosator then shared all the images seen by his God-Favored, Boka, with Orur.
