“Cough, cough—”
The sound of coughing echoed within the red silk canopy.
Zhang Mingyuan froze, his lips less than half an inch away from her crimson ones.
“Little Xuexue, why are you coughing? Did you drink too much wine today? Is your throat dry?”
He backed away slightly in confusion, sizing up the person before him from head to toe.
Su Jinxue froze.
She opened her eyes, her gaze falling on the bright red wedding robe covering Zhang Mingyuan's chest.
She hesitated...
Should she tell this fool about that matter?
She pursed her lips, preparing to speak.
“Wait here, I'll go find some medicine to soothe your meridians and throat.”
With a wave of his hand, Zhang Mingyuan tore open a rift in space and slipped directly into his small world.
Su Jinxue opened her mouth to speak but ended up smiling helplessly.
Oh well.
For the time she had left, she didn't want him to spend it carrying this heavy burden alongside her...
Meanwhile, Zhang Mingyuan was currently standing inside his small world.
Looking at the mountain of treasures piled up all over the ground, a massive grin spread across his face, stretching from ear to ear.
This was absolutely fantastic!
All the congratulatory gifts sent by the various sacred grounds today had gone straight into his “little vault”!
Those once-in-a-ten-thousand-years immortal metals, divine herbs, and magical treasures were currently piled on the ground like common cabbages.
He was rich! He was incredibly rich! This wedding was an absolute jackpot!
He began rummaging through the pile of treasures.
“This Nine Yang Fiery Ganoderma won't do. Eating it would probably cause excessive internal heat and a nosebleed.”
“This Yin-Yang Luan-Harmonizing Immortal Grass... cough, that's definitely not right.”
As he muttered to himself, he pulled a spiritual herb emitting a faint, refreshing aura out of a jade box.
“Found it! Top-grade Profound Ice Meridian-Sooting Grass. Absolutely perfect for soothing the meridians and throat!”
Satisfied, Zhang Mingyuan took the herb and stepped out of his small world.
“Little Xuexue, I'll refine this into medicine for you right away.”
He held the Profound Ice Meridian-Sooting Grass in one hand, a wisp of blue true fire igniting at his fingertips.
Under the circulation of his Mahayana Stage magic, the spiritual herb instantly melted into a pool of emerald-green medicinal liquid, emitting a refreshing, heart-warming fragrance.
Zhang Mingyuan summoned a white jade bowl from the nearby table and caught the liquid inside it.
Carrying the bowl, he sat back down on the edge of the bed and brought it to Su Jinxue's lips.
“Come, Little Xuexue, drink your medicine.”
When he said this, his tone carried a healthy dose of sheer mischief, much like Pan Jinlian coaxing Wu Dalang to drink his medicine.
Su Jinxue shot him a sidelong glance.
Without a word, she reached out, took the white jade bowl, and drained the medicinal liquid in a single gulp.
The slightly bitter liquid slid down her throat, bringing a wave of cool relief.
She handed the empty bowl back to Zhang Mingyuan.
The two sat side-by-side on the edge of the bed, neither speaking immediately.
The flame of the red candle flickered gently, stretching their shadows and casting them overlapping against the wall behind them.
A faint scent of ambergris, mingled with the unique scent of ice and snow that clung to Su Jinxue, continuously brewed in the confined space.
Seeing her crimson lips, which had grown even more luscious and moist after drinking the medicine, Zhang Mingyuan's Adam's apple bobbed once again.
No, he couldn't rush.
Tonight was their wedding night; they had to go through all the steps.
“Oh right, Little Xuexue, we haven't drunk our nuptial cups yet!”
He slapped his thigh, stood up, and walked over to the table.
On the table sat a pair of exquisite white jade wine cups next to a flask of thousand-year-old fine wine.
Just as Zhang Mingyuan reached for the flask, he pulled his hand back.
“Little Xuexue, since your throat is dry, let's skip the wine. We'll use tea instead.”
He picked up the teapot on the table, poured two cups of warm spiritual tea, and turned back to the bed.
He handed one of the cups to Su Jinxue.
“Come, let's complete the ritual.”
Su Jinxue looked at the teacup held out to her and didn't refuse.
She extended her fair fingers and pinched the rim of the cup.
The two sat facing each other, their knees almost touching.
Zhang Mingyuan raised his right hand holding the teacup, his wrist looping around Su Jinxue's arm.
The distance between them instantly closed.
Zhang Mingyuan could clearly smell the fragrance in her hair and see her long eyelashes trembling slightly.
This woman, usually as cold as ice, was actually nervous right now?
Feeling secretly pleased, a mischievous grin played on his lips.
“My lady, please have some tea.”
Ignoring his teasing, Su Jinxue merely tilted her head slightly and drained the spiritual tea in her cup.
Zhang Mingyuan also threw his head back and emptied his cup.
The intertwined position of their arms inevitably drew their bodies closer together.
The moment they set down their teacups, neither of them pulled away immediately.
The temperature in the air seemed to soar rapidly.
Zhang Mingyuan stared at the face right in front of him.
Those red eyes, which usually held only disdain and killing intent, were now covered with a faint, watery sheen, appearing exceptionally soft.
A tiny drop of glistening moisture still clung to her lips, making them look enticingly red.
Zhang Mingyuan felt his breathing grow heavy.
It had been five thousand years.
He had fought with this woman for a full five thousand years, battling all the way from the Golden Core Stage to the Mahayana Stage.
Who could have imagined that in the end, they would actually be sitting on the same bed under these circumstances, drinking intertwined cups of tea?
He could no longer suppress the impulse in his heart.
Slowly lowering his head, he leaned in toward those crimson lips.
His heartbeat thundered wildly in his ears, practically leaping out of his throat.
Su Jinxue did not dodge.
She merely closed her eyes slightly, her eyelashes trembling even more intensely.
Finally, their lips met.
The touch was incredibly soft, carrying a slightly cool temperature, along with the sweet aftertaste of the spiritual tea and the refreshing scent of the herb.
A loud buzz echoed in Zhang Mingyuan's head as his thoughts instantly exploded.
He had originally intended only a light, tentative taste, but the moment they touched, all his rationality crumbled.
Reaching out with both hands, he cupped Su Jinxue's cheeks and deepened the kiss.
Su Jinxue's body stiffened noticeably.
She instinctively tried to pull back, but Zhang Mingyuan's palms firmly cupped the back of her head, refusing to let her escape.
Gradually, she gave up her resistance...
Having nowhere else to place them, her hands clutched the bright red wedding robe on Zhang Mingyuan's chest, rumpling the fabric.
Their lips and teeth intertwined.
Zhang Mingyuan greedily claimed the breath in her mouth.
His tongue clumsily yet forcefully pried open her teeth, exploring inside.
The soft sensation made him lose himself completely.
They kissed within the red silk canopy, their breaths mingling and their heartbeats resonating.
Zhang Mingyuan felt his blood rushing to his head. An indescribable, dry heat rose from his dantian, burning through every limb and bone.
Releasing her cheeks, his hands slid down her fair neck and settled on her waist.
Even through her bridal gown, he could feel the warmth of her body.
He wanted more.
He wanted to kiss her neck, to tear away this troublesome wedding attire, and to fiercely fold her into his own body.
Today, he would make her pay a “bloody” price for everything she had done to him recently!
Zhang Mingyuan tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her whole body into his embrace as his weight pressed forward.
Su Jinxue was also utterly swept up in the passion.
The mental fortitude of a Red Dust Immortal had become completely useless at this moment, her mind going entirely blank.
Her breathing grew rapid, and an unnatural blush flushed across her cheeks.
Right at this moment.
A sudden change occurred.
Deep within her dantian, the Dao injury she had forcibly suppressed suddenly flared up!
A surge of energy, like a runaway horse, rushed backward up through her meridians.
Just as Zhang Mingyuan leaned in to pin her down, she suddenly struck him unconscious.
Thud!
A dull sound rang out.
Zhang Mingyuan collapsed into her arms.
She hurriedly caught him and laid him flat on the bed.
Having done this, she abruptly turned her head away.
Pfft—
A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out, splattering completely across the floor beside the bed.
