With a grim look on his face, Wu Changfeng walked down the corridor and straight into the main hall.
Inside, two men were kneeling on the floor. Having suffered an immense fright, their entire bodies could not stop trembling.
“Are they the ones?” Wu Changfeng asked coldly.
A man standing nearby nodded. “Yes. They are the madmen who were babbling nonsense on the streets this morning.”
“Have you confirmed it?”
The man suddenly fell silent. It was only when Wu Changfeng's icy gaze swept over him that he lowered his head and spoke. “It has been confirmed. By visual estimation, at least thirty-odd people are dead. Their corpses were impaled on tree branches... The scene was extremely gruesome.”
“These two were the first to arrive. It was only after witnessing that scene that they began babbling like madmen.”
Wu Changfeng's heart sank. Only six people, yet they managed to take the lives of over thirty skilled jianghu experts. No matter how he calculated, this math did not add up.
“Father, let me handle this.”
Wu An suddenly appeared at the main entrance, speaking with a grin that exuded a deep-seated arrogance and rebellion.
“Let you handle it? To send you to your death?” Wu Changfeng replied coldly.
He walked toward Wu An step by step.
“Visiting brothels, gambling, withholding the alliance's bounties, pocketing the pensions of the deceased... Did you really think I didn't know about any of this?”
With every sentence Wu Changfeng spoke, Wu An's face turned a shade paler. He had always believed he had covered his tracks perfectly, completely unaware that Wu Changfeng had seen through everything.
“Usually, I couldn't be bothered to discipline you. But do you have any idea how much trouble you've caused me?” Wu Changfeng had now reached Wu An, looking down on him from above.
“Because of you, more than three hundred people have left the alliance. Did you think you were special in the Martial Alliance? Did you think many people respected you?”
Wu An stared back at him intently, the arrogance deeply rooted in his bones instantly shattered by Wu Changfeng.
“No, they don't respect you. They respect me. They respect that you have a formidable father, and nothing more.”
“Wu An, you have been a useless piece of trash from the very beginning.”
These words were spoken casually, yet they pierced Wu An like sharp swords, instantly crushing his self-esteem.
His eyes instantly turned bloodshot as he slammed the door shut in a rage and stormed off.
Wu Changfeng did not look at him again, standing silently in the hall. The man beside him kept his head lowered, not even daring to breathe too loudly throughout the father-son argument.
With a sharp clang, the longsword at Wu Changfeng's waist suddenly left its scabbard.
As a cold gleam flashed, the two men who had been muttering mindlessly just a moment ago were instantly decapitated. The hall fell dead silent, and a heavy, suffocating atmosphere spread through the air...
Wu An walked out in a huff. Seeing his dark expression along the way, everyone quickly stayed out of his path.
Except for one person.
“Young Master Wu, what has made you so angry?” Chenn took the initiative to approach, a flattering smile on his face.
Wu An glanced at him, his eyes filled with absolute rage.
“None of your business! Scram!”
Yet, instead of leaving, Chenn pressed closer with a smile. “Young Master Wu has such a fierce temper today. If you don't release that fire, it might be bad for your health.”
“I just saw a rather fierce woman.” Saying this, Chenn deliberately licked his lips. “She has a fiery temperament that an ordinary man would never be able to tame.”
“Oh? Really?” Wu An's interest was piqued. His fury was currently seeking an outlet, and this was the perfect opportunity.
“Take me to see her.”
Under Chenn's guidance, the two arrived at the alliance's training field. Standing on the field was a woman with a lovely face. While her features were not the most breathtaking, she possessed an incredibly voluptuous figure, with curves that made it impossible to look away.
“A feisty one indeed.” Wu An stared at the woman on the field, a fire igniting deep within his chest.
He walked straight toward the woman. The actions of everyone else on the field ground to a halt as they turned their eyes in their direction.
Wu An completely ignored the gazes of the others, staring intently at the woman before him until she sensed something was amiss and turned her head to look.
When their eyes met, Wu An felt a sudden surge of heat rise from his lower abdomen, and he almost couldn't resist ravishing her right then and there.
“Perfect. You'll be mine tonight.” He sized her up, a wicked smile playing on his lips.
“What are you saying?” The woman took a step back, her face filled with vigilance.
Chenn immediately stepped forward, grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her over. “It is your good fortune that Young Master Wu has taken a liking to you! As long as you follow him, is there anything you cannot have?”
Caught in his grip, the woman instinctively began to struggle. Seeing her desperate resistance, Wu An subconsciously licked his lips, his eyes growing even hotter.
“This kid didn't lie. She really is feisty!”
Unable to wait any longer, Wu An slung the woman over his shoulder, completely ignoring her cries and frantic struggles.
This scene enraged the bystanders, but who was Wu An? He was Wu Changfeng's son, the Young Alliance Leader of the Martial Alliance. With that status alone, he was someone they could never afford to offend.
They could only bottle up their resentment, waiting for the day it would inevitably erupt.
Not long after the two departed, a cloaked figure appeared at the training field. He kept searching for something, looking around for over a minute.
Finally, seemingly unable to find what he was looking for, he had no choice but to ask a bystander.
“Brother, have you seen a woman here? She is slender and very recognizable.”
Hearing this, the man blanked for a moment, then cast a pitying look at him. After hesitating repeatedly, he finally spoke. “I... did see one. However, she was carried away by that Wu fellow. I'm afraid she's...”
He left the rest unsaid, but the implication was clear.
“What?! That damned beast!”
The cloaked figure let out an enraged roar. He tried to rush out but was tightly held back by the other man.
“Calm down, brother! That is the Young Alliance Leader of the Martial Alliance! He is not someone we can afford to provoke!”
“Young Alliance Leader!” He slowly turned his head. Through the hood that obscured most of his face, one could almost see a pair of bloodshot eyes.
“That is my sister! I don't care about any Young Alliance Leader or Vice Alliance Leader! If this kind of thing is allowed to go on, it will happen to everyone eventually! I will not allow such a beast to live!!”
After shouting, he broke free from the restraint and dashed outside.
Everyone present was shaken by these words. Silence spread through the crowd as hands clenched into tight fists. They exchanged looks, each gaze conveying a wild, desperate determination.
Just a short distance after rushing out of the training field, the cloaked figure's arm was suddenly grabbed. As his body came to a halt, the hood covering his head slipped off.
“How did it go?” Chenn asked in a low voice.
“Brother, I've riled up the emotions of everyone on the field. What about on your end?”
The cloaked man was indeed Chen. With their exquisite acting skills, the two had successfully fooled everyone.
“That woman who practiced charm arts has a massive appetite for money. She insisted that Wu An was too formidable to handle and demanded an extra fifty taels of silver,” Chenn grumbled speechlessly. That Young Alliance Leader indulged in lust every single day—his body was already as weak as a husk...
“In that case, can we go back and report our mission now?”
“Don't be in such a hurry.” Chenn smiled mysteriously. “There is still one final act left to play.”
