Chapter 229 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

When the blinding light finally dissipated, a tattered bone dragon lay prone upon the parched, cracked earth.

The violent impact had devastated Lothar's body. Bones were shattered in multiple places, his neck was snapped, and his head hung at a bizarre, limp angle.

Shengyang's full-strength strike had directly crushed the physical form of Lothar, the Calamity Dragon.

The overbearing, supreme yang power of the sun had purged all traces of calamity from the territory.

The intense heat had also performed a free sweep of Lothar's domain; at this moment, there was nothing left but scorched earth.

Undead, black knights, and even the native terrain of the Land of the Undead had all been reduced to ash under the impact of the Holy Sun Imperial Seal.

Chen Xu looked at the masterpiece before him and nodded with satisfaction.

It had not been in vain for him to spend so much effort creating the two Star Lords, Taiyin and Shengyang.

Especially Shengyang, in whom he had invested a significant amount of time and money.

Judging by the performance just now, this investment was definitely worth it.

Chen Xu sat upon his throne, looking down at Lothar below.

Although the bone dragon's body was tattered, Chen Xu still did not underestimate his opponent.

No one who mastered the Path of Calamity was easy to deal with. Playing dead was a basic skill, and there were precedents for using a fake death to reincarnate.

Chen Xu looked toward Bone Guard One and gave him a meaningful glance.

Understanding the command, Bone Guard One manipulated the spider lily. Its branches whipped through the air, lashing out at Lothar.

Hundreds of branches wrapped around Lothar, forming an airtight cocoon.

Then, with a wave of his hand, Bone Guard One summoned several skeleton soldiers.

The skeleton soldiers lay flat on the ground, stacking themselves to form a white bone ritual platform. Three middle fingers protruded from the top of the platform.

Bone Guard One leaned forward, drawing the bone sword from his waist with his left hand. He held his right hand in a sword finger gesture and slid it across the bone blade.

Huangquan mana refined a cluster of netherfire, which hovered above his sword fingers.

Bone Guard One extended his fingers and used the netherfire to light the three bone fingers on the ritual platform.

Immediately after, Bone Guard One reached into the air, and a talisman made of necrotic energy condensed in his grasp.

The grayish-white talisman was blank. Bone Guard One gripped it between his sword fingers and began chanting an incantation, emitting a long string of eerie sounds.

With every line of the incantation, a new rune appeared on the talisman.

Finally, as the chanting concluded, Bone Guard One used his index finger to sketch a skull in the remaining blank space at the center of the talisman.

Upon closer inspection, the skull bore a slight resemblance to Bone Guard One himself.

This entire process was a technique from the Huangquan Sutra.

The original version of the technique involved mobilizing Huangquan mana and sacrificing living beings to invoke a god, gaining powerful strength.

However, in the Land of the Undead, there were no gods to invoke. Thus, Bone Guard One had made a slight modification to the original version, changing the invocation into a God-Descent.

In the sky, the petals of the massive spider lily bloomed outward. A skeletal arm reached out from within, and a giant version of Bone Guard One manifested in the Land of the Undead.

The giant Bone Guard One raised a massive bone sword with both hands. Huangquan power converged onto the blade as the giant sword plunged downward, piercing the cocoon containing Lothar.

As the giant sword struck, the ground shook violently.

The giant cocoon split down the middle, and the Calamity Dragon was severed into two halves.

Even after suffering such an attack, Lothar still failed to show any reaction.

It seemed this Calamity Dragon had abandoned its physical body and moved to another hidden location.

Bone Guard One struck repeatedly, his slashes falling like a violent storm. One after another, he reduced the Calamity Dragon's body to a pile of debris.

After finishing his sword strikes, the giant Bone Guard One lowered his head. Two soul fires flew from his eye sockets and drifted toward the debris on the ground, burning it with a crackling sound.

The flames burned continuously until the debris was scorched black.

The fire died out, and the battlefield fell into silence.

With no target left to attack, the undead could only stand there, staring at one another.

Sitting upon his throne, Chen Xu manifested the authority of the Lord of the Undead, attempting to use the connection between the fragments to sense Lothar's location.

Bone Guard Two sat atop the soul beast Hades, entering a state of resonance with the creature.

In this state, Bone Guard Two's Soul Hunt skill was enhanced, and his ability to sense enemy souls was significantly boosted.

The Soul-Sealing Spear floated in the air, spinning rapidly like a compass as it tried to locate Lothar.

Suddenly, the Soul-Sealing Spear sensed Lothar's aura and shot forward.

The spear pierced through space, appearing instantly before Chen Xu.

“Roar!!!”

A black web appeared, covering the entire territory. Only Lothar's dragon head remained, situated at the center of the web, letting out a howl of agony.

Seeing this, Chen Xu immediately mobilized world power to teleport himself out of Lothar's territory, avoiding contact with the web of calamity.

To his surprise, the eerie web of calamity actually stuck to Chen Xu, moving along with him.

“Hahaha! Human, the calamity has been woven. Your fate shall surely meet its end under the guidance of calamity!”

“I, Lothar the Calamity Dragon, swear upon my soul that you and your race shall be reduced to ash under the power of calamity!”

“When that time comes, I shall receive the gift of calamity and be born anew from your destruction, taking your place upon the throne of the Lord of the Undead!”

After saying this, Lothar's dragon head exploded, turning into a cloud of black mist that dispersed with the wind.

A fragment of the Lord of the Undead's authority also revealed itself, floating in the air.

Chen Xu's expression turned solemn. His soul did indeed sense an invisible web wrapping around him.

With his eternal-tier soul, he perceived a faint threat in the distance. It wasn't fatal yet, but it certainly existed.

Moreover, the direction of the threat was actually toward Blue Star, Chen Xu's home.

“Human... race...”

Chen Xu murmured softly, reflecting on Lothar's final words.

It seemed that to completely resolve the calamity Lothar had left behind, he would have to return to Blue Star.

This Calamity Dragon did indeed have some guts, daring to invest everything just to weave a web of calamity, gambling that Chen Xu would fall to it.

However, what Chen Xu found somewhat puzzling was that the web of calamity Lothar had woven was meant to deal with his current eternal-tier self.

But after Lothar's death, only two candidates for the Lord of the Undead remained.

The stone tablet had begun trembling again when Shengyang dropped the Holy Sun Imperial Seal.

Now, after Lothar's fall, the stone tablet shook even more violently as it sensed the aura of the authority fragment.

As it shook, an authority fragment flew out from within the stone tablet. In the blink of an eye, it flew before Chen Xu, lining up with Lothar's fragment as they both hovered in the air.
