Chapter 233 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

Beyond Blue Star, in the Outerworld Battlefield.

Several years had passed since Chen Xu and the Angel Priest Alifa had joined forces to defeat the Hell Archduke Mogli.

This Cosmic Sea originally contained hundreds of transcendent worlds similar to Blue Star, some even more developed.

More than half of those worlds had fallen during the war between demons and angels. They were shattered and devoured by the divine power of the Hell Archduke, sacrificed to the Mother of Hell.

The remaining half had been integrated by the Heaven faction, brought into the fold of Heaven’s territory.

As the primary hero of the war, Alifa was granted supreme divine power by the Lord of Heaven and sent to this Cosmic Sea to conduct post-war cleanup operations.

That day, the Angel Priest Alifa, scepter in hand and followed by a host of fanatics, loudly chanted the name of the Lord of Heaven.

Holy Light exploded within the Cosmic Sea, completely purging the corrupting power from the region and sealing the Hellgates left behind by the demons.

Next, using the supreme divine power bestowed by the Lord of Heaven, he reshaped the dozens of remaining worlds.

Most of these worlds had been invaded by Hell demons, leaving their world sources damaged.

Without intervention, these worlds would have eventually entered a dormant state over time. Once a world went dormant, the transcendent forces within would lose their source of power.

The transcendent beings inside would then be forced to either flee their world in search of a new home or stay behind and gradually degenerate into ordinary mortals.

Alifa exercised the divine power of the Lord of Heaven to knead those dozens of worlds together, synthesizing them into one super-large world.

Heaven would become the sole faith of this world, and the Holy Light would be its mainstream transcendent system.

Perhaps to commemorate Chen Xu’s achievements, Alifa named this super-large world the Xufa World.

Inside the largest Holy City of the Xufa World, two massive statues stood tall. One was naturally of Alifa, while the other was of Chen Xu.

Furthermore, the murals carved inside the churches were filled with necrotic elements.

There were gargoyles descending from the heavens and undead bone dragons freezing the world.

And of course, there was the Bone Kun, which had stood its ground against a superior foe, stepping forward without fear of death to block a blow for the Angel Priest.

Because of this, the Xufa World was one of the few places to relax the restrictions on transcendent systems, officially including the Necromancer class among the permitted transcendent powers for the first time.

The first stop on Chen Xu’s journey home was the Xufa World.

The reason for coming here was simple. It wasn’t because of some appointment with an angel; it was purely because after becoming the complete Lord of the Undead, Chen Xu’s perception had reached an exaggerated level.

Any mention of his name or information about him would be sensed by him.

It was somewhat similar to the concept of a god whose name cannot be spoken and whose form cannot be looked upon.

Most of these perceptions originated from Blue Star. In particular, after he became the Lord of the Undead, something unknown had happened on Blue Star that caused the mentions of his name to skyrocket.

Second was the City of Miracles, where a large number of merchants plagued by interstellar pirates were still bitterly waiting for Chen Xu’s necrotic guard fleet.

Finally, there was the Xufa World before him.

Following his perception, Chen Xu directly opened a spatial gate and tunneled into the interior of the Xufa World.

The Xufa World’s exceptionally thick world membrane failed to provide even the slightest bit of obstruction.

This was a key aspect of why Dao Lord powerhouses were so formidable; they could ignore world membranes and enter the interior of a world directly.

Whether it was other mythic-tier or even eternal-tier beings, if they wanted to enter a world, they had to be a native, receive an invitation from within, or directly crush the world membrane to force their way in.

Regardless of the method, the time required and the commotion caused would not be small, giving the enemy plenty of time to react.

Only a Dao Lord could open a spatial gate with a casual smile, handling the process as easily as a cafeteria lady’s hand trembling while serving food.

Chen Xu looked at the statue before him, which had a completely different style from what he was used to, and the gloomy, dark environment surrounding it. He couldn’t help but remark with emotion.

“That fellow Alifa really gave me a lot of face!”

Chen Xu’s mental strength swept across the entire Xufa World, clarifying his current location.

A laboratory designed in the style of a Necromancer had appeared quite openly within a large city.

The Holy City of the Xufa World was only three hundred kilometers away.

The entrance to this laboratory didn't even have guards. There was only a gaunt, thin old monk sitting by the door.

He wasn't there to monitor anything; he was only there to collect ticket fees.

That’s right, ticket fees. This Necromancer laboratory had actually become a sightseeing spot for the followers of Heaven to visit in their leisure time.

In the past, the Necromancer class would either die under the crusades of paladins or have the energy in their bodies ground away by the overflowing Holy Light of a world. They were an absolutely rare species.

And a laboratory in this Necromancer style was filled with an exotic, foreign flair.

Perhaps to the believers of Heaven, coming here was no different from visiting a haunted house for fun.

While Chen Xu was still examining the displays inside the laboratory, two believers paid the old monk at the door and walked in.

The two were a man and a woman. Judging by their appearance, they were very young—likely a couple in a passionate relationship.

After walking in, they acted just like Chen Xu, looking around at the scenes inside the laboratory and occasionally letting out gasps of surprise.

Just as they were about to leave the hall and head up to the next floor...

A stone brick on the floor suddenly flew up, and a man jumped out from underneath. He was roaring with a hideous expression as he ran toward the couple.

“Roar!!!”

“Ahhh!!!”

The three of them engaged in a chase, playing hide-and-seek within the laboratory.

But before he had run very far, the pursuer was panting heavily. He sat down on the spot, his face deathly pale as if he were about to pass out.

Seeing this, the young couple didn't take the opportunity to run away. Instead, they plucked up their courage and went over to check on him.

“Hello, are you alright? Do you need help?”

“We are students from the Saint Light Academy. We know some basic Holy Healing. You look terrible. How about we give you some treatment?”

As they spoke, they raised their hands. Holy Light power gathered in their palms as a Holy Healing spell was about to be released.

The response they got was a hoarse voice filled with terror.

“No! Don't! Get your Holy Light away from me! Stay back!”

The man who had been slumped on the ground was suddenly galvanized by the Holy Light into a final burst of strength. He screamed and scrambled away, running straight back to the hall and jumping into the hole in the floor.

He even manipulated his mental strength to pull the stone brick back into place, tightly covering the hole.

The couple was left standing there, staring at each other in confusion.

Chen Xu, who had witnessed everything, had a very rich range of expressions on his face.

It went from initial questioning to shock, then to surprise and helplessness, and finally, only embarrassment remained.

The reason was simple: the man who had run away while howling was a Necromancer.

A Necromancer who possessed transcendent power was actually relying on physical strength and facial expressions to scare people in his own laboratory.

Using physical strength wouldn't have been so bad; perhaps the guy had a dream of pioneering the path of a melee Necromancer. One shouldn't discourage someone with a dream.

But his physical strength wasn't even that good; he was inferior to two academy students.

To Chen Xu, who stood at the pinnacle of all Necromancers, this was incredibly embarrassing.

Another spatial gate opened, and Chen Xu stepped directly into the basement of the laboratory.

Dozens of Necromancers were sitting here. The man who had jumped down earlier was currently slumped in a chair, complaining to his companions.

“Hunter, we can’t go on like this. Do you have any idea? Those two just now actually tried to use Holy Healing on me! That’s Holy Healing!”

“Ever since the world was remodeled by that person, the energy available for us to cultivate has been scarce. If a Holy Healing spell hit me, I’m afraid I’d lose my powers and turn back into a regular person on the spot.”

Hearing his complaints, the others also sighed repeatedly.

There was no other way. Although the Xufa World permitted the existence of the Necromancer class, it was merely permitted to exist.

Under the cultural background of the Heaven faction, the path of cultivation for a Necromancer was fraught with difficulties.

What? You want to find remains to summon skeletons? Sorry, you can only use the remains of people related to you by blood.

Furthermore, that person had to visit a church before they died and sign a contract under a priest’s notarization, stating they were willing to become materials for your spell cultivation after death.

Consequently, one of the three pillars of a Necromancer—summoning, curses, and bone spells—had been directly cut off.

Fine, even without summoning, specializing in curses and bone spells wasn't impossible. There were successful cases in the myriad worlds.

However, the Holy Light in the Xufa World was extremely dense. When Alifa merged the worlds, he hadn't used up all the divine power bestowed by the Lord of Heaven. That priest hadn't kept the power for himself but had instead infused it into the Xufa World.

This resulted in the concentration of Holy Light in the Xufa World exceeding all limits. The followers of Heaven were naturally overjoyed and praised Alifa in unison.

But it was a miserable situation for other transcendent classes, especially Necromancers.

Their amateur-level curse spells, let alone being effective, were considered a feat of great willpower just to successfully cast in such a high-concentration Holy Light environment.

If they truly wanted to cultivate, they could only huddle in this specially isolated laboratory and curse each other as peers.

But that wasn't a solution either. While most curses only provided negative status effects, many mid-to-high-tier curses could directly be fatal.

Necromancers were already an endangered species. If they accidentally cursed a few more to death, the inheritance would truly be severed.

Summoning was a no-go, and curses wouldn't get them far. That left bone spells.

Bone spells were indeed viable. While human bones couldn't be used, Heaven didn't forbid the bones of other species.

In a transcendent world, demonic beasts were countless. Logically, there should be no shortage of cultivation resources.

But the same problem persisted: the concentration of Holy Light was too high. The demonic beasts breathed Holy Light every day and ate food filled with Holy Light energy.

Over time, they had taken on Holy Light attributes.

As a result, this group of already weak Necromancers couldn't even manage to hunt demonic beasts in the wild.

Thus, they huddled in this laboratory, relying on the small amount of ticket money to buy beast bones from merchants for their cultivation.

“Sigh, what choice do we have? We’re lucky to even be alive.”

“Exactly. If it weren't for the Lord of the Undead, Chen Xu, we small fry would have been sat on and crushed by those fierce paladins long ago.”

“Stop talking. It’s almost time. Get ready to go up for the worship. We have to worship the Lord of the Undead on time so we can collect a payment from the church at the end of the month.

If we’re late going up and Old John at the door sees us, he’ll find another excuse to dock our pay.”

“Sigh!”

At those words, the group stood up one after another, left the basement, and arrived in the hall.

“Great Lord of the Undead, Friend of Heaven, Bane of Demons, Champion of Justice, Saintly Teacher of Necromancers, Lord Chen Xu. Your devout juniors offer their prayers to you...”
