Chapter 61 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

After flying with Duan Shou for half a day, the man spent the entire time checking his compass and finally gathered enough information.

"Brother Chen, fly toward that direction."

Duan Shou pointed his finger toward a specific path.

Chen Xu looked and realized it was the exact same area where they had killed the king worm.

'I hope we didn't spend half the day working just for the tomb to be right where the king worm was.'

"Stop!"

The needle on the compass in Duan Shou's hand began to spin wildly.

"It should be right here. Let's go down and take a look."

Looking at the two large pits on the ground, it really was the location where those two worms had been. It seemed the two giant worms were the guardians of the tomb.

Sindragosa carried the three of them down.

"Phew. I, Wu Houde, can finally brag about being someone who has ridden a bone dragon!"

Duan Shou, on the other hand, held his compass and began moving in a strange pattern, taking two steps left and then two steps right.

"Brother Chen, Old Duan is performing the Dragon-Seeking Cave-Detecting Universe Steps. By disturbing the flow of heaven and earth, he can detect the great tomb. According to him, it's similar to a bat's sonar." Seeing Chen Xu's confused expression, Wu Houde explained.

"I see." Although Chen Xu still didn't quite understand, he maintained his respect for professional expertise.

"Found it." Duan Shou pointed at the ground beneath his feet. "It's right under here."

"But this is all covered in sand. How do we get down?" Chen Xu and Wu Houde walked over as well.

"Should I have the earth-walking cultivators and earth mages from the logistics team come here and build a tunnel?" Wu Houde suggested.

Chen Xu pulled out the item dropped by the king worm earlier, the humanoid doll known as the Sand Guard.

"Master Duan, see if this is useful. There were two giant worms here before, and this doll dropped from them."

Duan Shou took the doll and was about to examine it closely.

Suddenly, a powerful suction force erupted from below, pulling the three of them directly into the ground.

"Wuu?"

Seeing Chen Xu suddenly vanish, Sindragosa quickly rose, swinging its dragon head around as it scanned the area.

Deep underground, within the Desert God's tomb.

As soon as the three of them regained their footing, Chen Xu immediately summoned all his skeleton heroes except for Bone Guard One.

Duan Shou pulled out a fire starter—likely a piece of system equipment—and used it to illuminate the entire area.

Wu Houde circulated his cultivation technique, forming a Golden Bell Shield that protected the three of them.

"Brother Chen, this doll of yours is a bit sinister." Wu Houde remarked while maintaining the barrier, eyeing the Sand Guard in Duan Shou's hand.

"I didn't know it could do this either. The information provided by the World Will is far too brief."

Chen Xu felt quite embarrassed. Although he had life-saving skills and wasn't afraid of such sudden situations, Duan Shou and Wu Houde might not be as fortunate.

"Heh, this is already considered good. I heard that when the dungeon era first began, there were almost no item descriptions at all. Professionals had to guess everything based on the dungeon's circumstances."

"That happened?"

This was something Chen Xu hadn't known. It seemed that while human professionals were constantly growing, the World Will's growth speed was also very fast.

He just wondered how much longer it would take for the World Will to reach the next stage.

"Look, that black mist ahead." Duan Shou's voice suddenly rang out as he pointed the fire starter forward.

Chen Xu and Wu Houde looked in that direction and saw a heavy stone gate over three meters high.

The seal on the stone gate was damaged, with many cracks visible. From these cracks, a black gas continuously billowed out. This black mist seemed alive, acting like tentacles that probed around before slowly extending toward the light.

"That is the terrifying resentment born from my master's remains."

Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice spoke.

"Who's there!" Wu Houde shouted.

"It's the doll." Duan Shou raised the Sand Guard in his hand.

"Braves from a distant land, I implore you to destroy this restless resentment and let my master sleep in peace forever." The doll continued to speak.

"Shawa the Sand-Buryer?" Chen Xu recalled the name recorded in the dungeon hint—the saint of the Desert God who had broken the corruption ritual.

"Shawa has passed away along with my master. I am but a wisp of a lingering soul. Braves, I implore you to end it. Let this suffering that has lasted for thousands of years finally come to an end."

"In return, I will give you a location. The former treasure hoard of the Yellow Sand Kingdom. As the most loyal saint, Shawa managed the divine kingdom on earth on behalf of the Desert God. The hoard contains treasures collected by Shawa for the Desert God."

"Oh, an unexpected surprise."

This God's Resentment was already the target of the dungeon, so he hadn't expected an extra reward. Treasures kept for a god sounded like high-quality items.

"Does this God's Resentment have any weaknesses? Or rather, did the former Desert God have any weaknesses?"

"Gods have no weaknesses, but my master loathed the sky. The Sky God was our enemy deity." Shawa remained silent for a moment before answering Chen Xu's question.

Before Chen Xu could ask anything else, the stone gate suddenly exploded, sending debris flying toward them.

Blood Raven drew her bow and fired, her arrows shattering the larger rocks before they could reach them. The remaining debris struck the skeleton heroes and Wu Houde's Golden Bell Shield.

"Shawa, I didn't expect even you to betray me." A raspy, muffled voice drifted from inside the gate.

"You are but a monster born from my master's remains, how dare you impersonate him!" Shawa suddenly erupted. The doll flew into the air and exploded instantly.

A beam of light shot out, striking the black mist behind the gate.

"Ah!"

God's Resentment let out a roar of agony.

The beam of light began to grow within the black mist, gathering the scattered gas together.

"Braves, this is the last of my power. Resentment is formless, so I have used my soul as a shell to consolidate it." Shawa's voice rang out again. "Braves, the rest is up to you."

The light faded, and a terrifying monster appeared outside the gate. It had a scorpion-like body, the tail of a king worm, and a belly resembling a queen worm's reproductive organ.

"Roar!"

God's Resentment let out an angry howl: "You are all traitors! Betrayers!"

It then turned its gaze toward the three humans. "And you, all outsiders must die!"

God's Resentment charged rapidly toward the three of them.

Bone Guard Two quickly threw his spear, but it passed directly through God's Resentment without triggering the sealing effect.

The other skeleton heroes also took action.

Bone Guard Three let out a roar and transformed into a spinning cyclone as he charged forward.

Kashya and Blood Raven fired a rain of arrows to cover Bone Guard Three's charge.

Due to the narrow terrain of the tomb, the two mage heroes could only release small-scale spells to support the arrows.

Rathma applied the Blessing of the Dead to the skeleton heroes, boosting their attributes.

However, the arrows, much like the spear, passed straight through the body of God's Resentment, failing to slow its advance.

Bone Guard Three, who was charging forward, was directly trampled over by God's Resentment. Hundreds of sharp legs stomped down, nearly making him the first undead hero to fall in battle.

Seeing God's Resentment about to reach them, Wu Houde poured all his strength into his technique, strengthening the Golden Bell Shield in hopes of withstanding the first impact.

Chen Xu patted Wu Houde's shoulder from behind. "Let me handle it. We can't fight it here."

The fact that the spear and arrows passed through God's Resentment didn't mean they caused no damage. Instead, they knocked away some sand.

However, since this place was filled with sand, God's Resentment absorbed as much as it lost, making it look as though it were uninjured.

God's Resentment raised its massive pincers high, preparing to smash down on the Golden Bell Shield.

Chen Xu raised his hand, and the surroundings suddenly plunged into darkness.

"Welcome to my domain. You are the first guest."

"Bang!"

A massive collision echoed, but beneath the giant pincers were only hard floor tiles. There was no sign of Chen Xu and the others.

God's Resentment looked around for the three humans, but it only found the skeleton heroes and the long line of skeleton archers and mages behind them, their weapons drawn and spells prepared.

"Roar! Ha!"

Bone Guard Three descended from the sky, pinning his twin blades directly into the head of God's Resentment.

God's Resentment raised its pincers to smash its own head to get him off.

Seizing the opening, Bone Guard Two sprinted beneath the belly of God's Resentment and thrust his spear upward. As the spear entered its body, God's Resentment instantly froze.

A barrage of arrows followed immediately.

Every bone arrow tore away a chunk of sand.

Seeing that God's Resentment had been restrained, Bone Guard Three pulled out his blades and jumped down.

Seeing Bone Guard Two standing under the belly and holding the spear to maintain the seal, Bone Guard Three moved to the side and began to spin.

A lethal spiral ensued. Every rotation carved away a large amount of sand from the body of God's Resentment.

Before long, the size of God's Resentment had shrunk significantly.

The scattered sand nearly covered the floor of the Overlord's Castle's hall.

"Despicable blasphemers, when I return, I shall bring the punishment of the apocalypse!"

The insect-like shell of God's Resentment instantly turned to sand. Only a wisp of a soul core remained, attempting to flee the castle.

To break free from the shackles of Shawa's soul shell, it had abandoned most of its power just to escape with its life.

However, when God's Resentment rushed out of the castle, it realized this was not the tomb it knew.

Outside was a desolate wasteland, where a magic tower and an exhibition hall stood tall. In the distance, a giant building with rotating gears seemed to be cutting through something.

While God's Resentment was still dazed, a blast of Frost Breath descended from above.

The fragile soul core was instantly frozen into a block of ice. Sindragosa's head reached down, its jaws snapping shut on the ice crystal. With a few crunches, it absorbed the pure soul energy.
