Chapter 18 | Paladin Class: Awakening the Strongest Demon System

Thinking of this, he glanced at Jiang Lin and Tie Chen sitting in the corner.

However, that sweep of his gaze left him somewhat surprised.

Tie Chen, the first in the class who had never studied theory classes before, was actually grinding through practice problems!

And Jiang Lin, the fallen genius whose level was a pathetic level 2, was actually silently practicing a breathing technique!

Wait, looking at the magic essence fluctuations around him, he must have reached level 3!

It wasn't easy; after three years, this kid finally reached level 3!

But what was with that black cat?

Forget it, it wasn't like these students hadn't brought weirder things before. What was a black cat compared to that?

"Everyone should learn more from Tie Chen and Jiang Lin. They know how to seize the time and give it their all, so you all need to work harder too."

Class teacher Lake's words instantly shifted everyone's attention to Jiang Lin and Tie Chen in the corner.

Looking at the two of them working so hard, the students who were playing and joking nearby felt a strange sense of unease, as if they should also stop playing and do something.

However, regarding the class teacher's praise, both remained immersed in their own worlds and paid no heed.

The students who had left the latest yesterday also recalled the scene before they departed.

While the entire class had already tidied their desks and chairs to go home, only the top-ranked and the bottom-ranked students of the class remained, working selflessly and ignoring their surroundings to improve themselves.

Thinking of this, one student shared the scene he had witnessed yesterday with those around him.

"I was on duty yesterday, so I left quite late. But when I left, neither of them showed any intention of leaving."

Hearing this, the surrounding people were surprised.

"They were the same this morning. Do you think they're just doing it on a whim? They'll probably give up in a few days."

"I think it's very likely. After all, we've all had those moments of intermittent ambition, haven't we?"

"I wouldn't be so sure. Don't you know that yesterday, Jiang Lin won a swordsmanship duel against the top and second-ranked students of the grade?"

"Wasn't that because they suppressed their levels and went easy on him?"

"Even if their levels were suppressed, their swordsmanship proficiency was still there. Yesterday, Jiang Lin seemed to be saying something like 'no longer hiding my strength'... Do you think it could be true?"

"Sigh, true or not, don't you guys feel a strange discomfort seeing them work so hard?"

"Eh? You feel it too? I feel the same... This feeling seems like it can only be relieved if I start working hard too..."

"..."

The simple and kind students of this other world naturally did not know that what they were about to face was a terrifying phenomenon known as 'involution'.

However, although watching the two of them work hard made them feel uncomfortable, as students of the tail-end class, most were ultimately like mud that couldn't stick to a wall. Only a few felt their hearts tighten and joined in the cultivation or problem-solving.

Most people, after feeling that tightness in their hearts, continued to slack off and play.

One could only say that the environment of the tail-end class was like this; those who could remain untainted by the mire were, after all, a minority.

Time passed quickly, and it was time for Jiang Lin's swordsmanship class again.

The crowd stood up, and Jiang Lin also headed to the swordsmanship classroom.

The Kingdom's purpose in training adventurers was to produce high-quality talents with decent combat power, so practical combat carried the most weight in various tests.

This was why Jiang Lin, despite having excellent theory grades, had always been inferior to students with higher levels and stronger practical combat abilities.

But now, in terms of strength, he had become three times stronger than before, surpassing the average level of a level 3 paladin, and he had also acquired several skills with extremely high proficiency.

Therefore, his current combat power was skyrocketing.

Unfortunately, in his previous match with Tie Chen, Jiang Lin had used some 'tricks' to defeat him directly, leaving Tie Chen without the courage to fight him again.

So Jiang Lin didn't know how strong he truly was when going all out.

Now, this swordsmanship class might give him an answer.

However, when Jiang Lin stepped into the swordsmanship classroom, his gaze was drawn to a beautiful, tall figure.

Anya from the elite class was actually standing in the classroom!

Moreover, when he looked toward Anya, her eyes, burning with battle intent, also looked toward him.

Did their teacher have something else to do again? Isn't this the swordsmanship class for the failing class?

Jiang Lin was puzzled for a moment.

"Lord Jiang Lin."

Anya first came up to greet him.

After a pause, she said, "I switched my classes. I want to spar with you a few more times."

After going back yesterday, she had been replaying her battle with Jiang Lin in her mind and discovered many problems in her 【Basic Swordsmanship】.

These problems might not have much impact in general combat, but at a high level, where all attributes were similar, these details often determined the outcome of a battle.

Now that she had corrected these details and integrated them into her other sword techniques, her own strength had slightly improved.

Seeing Jiang Lin looking a bit dazed, she continued, "I will pay you for it. In addition, I can lend you a sword technique manual to study."

Hearing this, some students in the class who had been observing the two of them suddenly felt their teeth itch with envy.

Damned Jiang Lin! It was one thing to be so close to the noble and beautiful Lady Anya, but he was actually making Lady Anya pay so much!

To this, Jiang Lin was naturally very willing.

After Anya suppressed her level to the same tier as his, she was definitely at the upper level of the same rank.

Fighting against such an Anya would naturally allow him to test his own strength.

However, he estimated he could only use 【Basic Swordsmanship】 against her; without the enhancement of other skills, it wouldn't be a comprehensive comparison.

However, when Anya took out the reward and the sword technique manual, Jiang Lin became a little less calm.

Anya actually pulled out a gold coin!

You should know that 30 copper coins were enough for a family of three to eat and drink normally for a month, and 1 gold coin was equivalent to 100 copper coins!!

This... was she the legendary 'sugar mommy'?!

And not just the gold coin, there was even a sword technique manual of unknown grade!

Jiang Lin was shocked, while also observing if the system would react.

However, to his regret, the system seemed to have no reaction to this.

Previously, every time he was challenged or fought someone, the system would pop up an option for him to accept the battle.

Could it be that each person can only trigger a system quest once?

Jiang Lin speculated.

As for whether that was the case, he would have to see how the system performed in the days to come.

On the other side, seeing Jiang Lin stunned on the spot, Anya also took out the sword technique manual she had prepared.

It was a booklet with somewhat curled edges, clearly a second-hand or multi-hand old book.

"This technique is called 【Seven Star Holy Glow Slash】. It is suitable for us paladins to practice. It can be released without chanting and is a high-level light attribute technique.
