Chapter 41 | Please Stop Possessing Me, Lord Evil God!

Among the bustling crowd, someone suddenly caught the potion. He looked at Grinya with some confusion, not understanding what this meant.

"Feed this to him, and he will recover," Grinya said indifferently.

After hearing that the item in his hand could heal Buze, the person realized it was exceptionally precious and almost dropped it in a panic.

"That looks like... a Health Potion!" Many in the crowd were of noble birth and possessed broad knowledge. They recognized the mysterious red liquid at a glance, their eyes widening as they cried out in surprise.

"A Health Potion! The legendary brew that can bring someone back from the brink of death?"

"It's not just a legend. The potion shops sell them for twenty gold coins a bottle—the same price as an experience potion."

"Isn't Grinya from the countryside? How could she afford a Health Potion?"

Of course, there were a few small voices of doubt in the crowd that sounded somewhat grating, but Grinya didn't care. Or rather, the evil god didn't care.

Ignoring further questions, the crowd quickly and carefully helped Buze up.

Because Buze's physique was somewhat "imposing," it took two people working together to lift him.

Then, someone slowly fed the potion to Buze.

Faint green starlight emanated from his body, and his wounds slowly repaired themselves under the glow of the green light.

Seeing the color return to Buze's pale face, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank you so much, Miss Grinya! You and Young Master Buze are our saviors!"

Someone expressed sincere gratitude to Grinya. Led by him, the others snapped out of it and began thanking her one after another.

However, Grinya merely stood there. Her gray eyes held no emotional color, and her cold expression kept everyone at a distance.

Noticing Grinya's strange behavior, the crowd's movements slowed. Someone asked cautiously:

"Miss Grinya, are you unhappy about something?"

Grinya ignored him.

In fact, Grinya was also waiting for the evil god's guidance. However, the evil god had made no move for a long time. The depths of her mind were as silent as if nothing were there at all.

"Has the evil god fallen asleep again?" she wondered. Yet, control over her body had not returned to her.

...

Watching these NPCs bowing to him in thanks, Lu Xun couldn't help but huff.

He quite enjoyed this feeling of being worshipped. In this cold winter, the sensation was like a warm stove shining on his body. A thick warmth flowed through his entire being, and his chest felt particularly hot, as if a raging fire were burning there!

But...

Wasn't it getting a bit too hot?

Lu Xun lowered his head in pain.

It was a tiny cluster of flames dancing on his wool undershirt, like a light and cheerful dance. As the atmosphere grew more intense, the dance reached its climax, making for a spectacular sight.

To put it in human terms: the fire was getting bigger.

"Holy crap!"

With a thud, Lu Xun fell off his chair. Looking at the growing flames on his chest, he felt like his brain might have shriveled up.

He was actually freaking spontaneously combusting?

This kind of miraculous phenomenon, which could fill three episodes of a paranormal investigation show, was actually happening to him!

Without time to think, he scrambled into the bathroom and turned on the shower to drench himself.

The water droplets hit the flames, making a constant "sizzle," but the fire simply wouldn't go out completely.

"What the hell is going on?" Lu Xun's scalp tingled. This was the first time he had encountered such a bizarre situation. In his desperation, he simply stripped the shirt off, and the flames were finally extinguished.

However, looking at the charred wool shirt, it was clearly unwearable. Lu Xun's heart bled at the sight.

This wool shirt was a high-end item he had bought for thirty bucks on Pinyixi!

"What a piece of junk wool shirt. It almost burned me to death. One star! I'm definitely giving it a one-star review!"

Lu Xun cursed and shouted. He didn't think too much of it, assuming it was just an issue with the wool shirt. Just as he was about to grab his phone, he subconsciously touched his chest.

"Ow!"

The scorching heat made Lu Xun howl.

He immediately realized something was wrong. His eyes went wide as copper bells as he looked at his chest, which had turned deep red from the high temperature. "Holy crap, what the hell!"

The thing combusting wasn't the shirt—it was him?

"Am I sick?"

Lu Xun was dumbfounded.

He rubbed his eyes and looked at his chest again. This time, his chest looked normal.

He carefully reached out to touch it. It was cool to the touch.

"Was it a hallucination?"

He looked back at the ruined shirt, his gaze growing even more confused.

"Miss Grinya, are you alright?"

Suddenly, the sound from the computer caught his attention. On the screen, a group of NPCs surrounded him, looking at him with urgent and worried expressions.

"What happened?"

The internet-addicted youth clearly had a stronger interest in the game's plot. He sat straight back down in his chair and put his headphones back on.

As for the miraculous scene of spontaneous combustion just now, he naturally chose to forget it.

Anyway, his chest had returned to normal, which meant it must have been an illusion. The shirt definitely had a problem!

He'd leave that bad review later.

...

Everyone crowded in front of Grinya. Someone waved a hand in front of her face, but she gave no reaction.

She remained motionless on the spot, like a statue.

"Could it be... Miss Grinya..." Someone's face turned pale. He knelt on the ground as if struck by a bolt from the blue, tears streaming from his eyes. "She's dead?"

Those words exploded through the crowd like a thunderclap. The atmosphere suddenly froze, and a thick sorrow permeated the air.

"To die in battle and never fall? Grinya, you... how can you be so noble!" Someone lowered their head, clenching their fists tightly, but tears still couldn't help but drip down.

"In order to protect us all, she didn't hesitate to sacrifice her own life... We're sorry. We will definitely carry your share and live well!" Someone knelt down, crying and kowtowing to her.

"Even giving the last Health Potion to Young Master Buze instead of using it herself... Miss Grinya, you are a true hero!" Someone swallowed their grief and faced her with utmost solemnity, performing a special military salute.

That was the highest royal salute of the kingdom. Whenever mourning a hero, everyone would perform this salute while weeping to show the most supreme respect.

Everyone silently saluted her.

"Rest in peace, Miss Grinya..."

"To our hero, we pay our highest respects!"

The atmosphere was silent. It seemed as though snowflakes were drifting through the air, adding a more desolate and dramatic color to this solemn and sorrowful mourning ceremony, as if even the world itself recognized Grinya's noble spirit of sacrifice.
