Then he shook his head stiffly and said as if it were common sense,
"I've never suspected it. Isn't it common knowledge that the Kritov family members have weird brain wiring?"
Kross: "..."
He was actually speechless in the face of such a childish viewpoint.
He slapped a hand to his forehead and let out a helpless sigh.
"Teacher Ai'erlun, the situation is actually very clear now. Grinya and Kaiya are in cahoots. The disaster on Wuxin Island was orchestrated by the two of them. They've been laying the groundwork since Kaiya was responsible for Grinya's admission!"
As he spoke, Kross’s eyes flashed with a sharp light, exuding a dangerous aura like a falcon.
"Those two really had a clever plan. Unfortunately for them, they still left a trail. Nothing can escape my wise eyes!"
...
"Why do I suddenly feel a bit creeped out..."
Inside the cell, Grinya shivered and looked around, but found nothing.
She walked to the edge, trying her best to stick her head out to look around. Before she could, a voice came from beside the cell door, making her give a start.
"Are you trying to escape?" Bamon, the middle-aged hunter from before, was actually standing right next to her. It seemed he had been guarding her this entire time.
"No, I just heard some noise outside and wanted to see what was going on."
Grinya wasn't lying, as the noise outside the prison was indeed quite loud. Anyone who didn't know better would think something big had happened at the Sin Hunting Bureau.
However, since Bamon was still here, it proved the Sin Hunting Bureau hadn't fallen into chaos yet.
Bamon tilted his head toward the end of the corridor, where all the noise was coming from.
"It's because our Sin Hunting Bureau has run into two major cases recently. Both cases have a huge impact, but we have almost no clues. It's giving everyone in the bureau a massive headache."
As he spoke, he slowly turned his gaze back to Grinya. "And then there's your case. Anything involving a cult cannot be taken lightly. We're already running out of personnel to deploy."
"Major cases?" Grinya’s heart stirred slightly as tragic and bloody images flashed through her mind.
"What kind of cases?" she asked curiously.
Bamon thought for a moment and said, "In the last two days, an extremely notorious thief has suddenly appeared in the city. They've stolen from almost everywhere in Yiertaya. Just yesterday, over five hundred people came to report crimes! The Sin Hunting Bureau is paying close attention to this and sent many hunters to investigate, but we haven't found any leads."
"Stealing from over five hundred people in one day! How is this thief so capable?" Grinya exclaimed. "The property damage must be significant, right?"
She began to understand why he said the case had a huge impact.
"Oh, there's basically no financial loss, because that thief doesn't steal treasures. They only steal lollipops." Bamon paused and added, "And they only steal lollipops from children. This is truly the most heinous thief I've ever seen!"
Grinya froze, suddenly having a bad premonition.
"Currently, the only clue we have is that the perpetrator is a young woman." After Bamon spoke, he suddenly glanced at Grinya and said with certainty, "Yes, that perpetrator should be about the same age as you!"
Grinya: "..."
A thief who likes to steal lollipops from children?
Why did that behavior sound so familiar?
She didn't dare to comment on that topic and quickly found another one.
"So, what's the other case that's giving you a headache?"
Upon hearing this, Bamon immediately looked distressed. "Just talking about it gives me a headache. I’d rather stay here and watch you than get involved in that case."
"It’s about Princess Ruiya being missing. Her disappearance two weeks ago already caused a huge stir in the city, and now she’s gone missing again."
"If this isn't handled well, the pressure from the King's side will be agonizing."
After finishing, Bamon sighed, feeling pity in his heart for the colleagues responsible for that case.
"Princess Ruiya..." Grinya murmured softly, her mind racing.
She knew how to save herself now!
To clear the suspicion of being a cult follower, the best way was to pin the label of 'cultist' onto the person who actually deserved it.
She had to find a way to let everyone know that the fake Princess Ruiya was the real cultist!
The look in her eyes turned serious as she gazed at Bamon with utmost solemnity. "What if I told you that I know the whereabouts of Princess Ruiya?"
"You?"
Bamon frowned, his green eyes scanning Grinya from head to toe. Clearly, he didn't easily believe Grinya's claim.
"I want to see His Majesty the King. I know where Princess Ruiya is!" However, Grinya did not flinch under Bamon's skeptical gaze. Her attitude was resolute—so resolute that Bamon couldn't help but doubt himself.
"Could it be that Princess Ruiya was kidnapped by your cult?" Bamon’s eyes narrowed, his lazy demeanor vanishing instantly. The magic in the air crackled, and Grinya sensed the scent of death.
Those who could become hunters were indeed ruthless characters.
Grinya showed no fear, looking him straight in the eye with a calm gaze. "I am not a cultist. I was framed. This information is of vital importance. I must personally inform His Majesty the King!"
She didn't believe that in front of His Majesty the King, that annoying guy Kross would still make her undergo the Original God's faith test.
As long as she could prove in front of everyone that the imposter was the real cultist, make the King realize the true Princess Ruiya had been missing for a long time, and shift everyone's focus to the missing princess, no one would care whether she was a cultist or not.
Grinya was confident that this plan was flawless.
Bamon stared at her intensely, seemingly trying to judge the truth of her words.
"I will report this. As for whether you can see His Majesty the King, that isn't for me to decide." Bamon spoke in a low voice, adding a threatening tone, "You had better truly know the whereabouts of Princess Ruiya."
"Of course," Grinya said calmly.
