Chapter 69 | Please Stop Possessing Me, Lord Evil God!

Actually, Lu Xun hadn't expected it either; he was just using a simple cheat, but why was the commotion so massive?

Even the game scenes were interacting. Looking at the apocalyptic scenario on the interface, Lu Xun was a bit dazed.

What did he even do?

Suddenly, he shifted his perspective slightly. Duke Dagro, who had just appeared arrogant and contemptuous, had already fallen to the ground. He couldn't resist this majestic power. His brain fell into a deep sleep, and his flesh underwent a disgusting mutation, swelling continuously before exploding, creating one blood bubble after another on the ground.

The knight commander beside him wasn't doing much better, though he was encased in bright silver armor, so he didn't look as nauseating as Duke Dagro.

At this moment, only King Weis was still struggling to hold on.

This was very strange. All the creatures in Yiertaya had fallen into a deep sleep, and even the two king-rank mages hadn't been spared, yet he alone was still enduring.

His body was trembling in fear, but his eyes were burning with intensity.

His flesh was afraid, but his consciousness was excited...

They seemed like the eyes of someone seeing their own kind...

Lu Xun froze for a moment. This bizarre scene before him made him even more confused.

He hadn't even attacked yet; how did these people fall?

A staged accident?

He had just pressed the action key, and his perspective moved forward slightly, only to suddenly come to a halt.

"Lagging again?" Lu Xun's brow furrowed. Refusing to give up, he pressed the key a few more times, but there was still no response.

That shouldn't be possible. He had just cleared the viruses. The 360 Antivirus suite was still on his desktop; there shouldn't be any residual viruses.

While Lu Xun was utterly perplexed, a burst of noisy, piercing electronic static suddenly came from his headphones, accompanied by a faint, intermittent human voice.

"Don't... don't... don't sleep, Grinya... You can't... you can't let Master Xun Shen... down..."

That voice was as weak as if it were under hypnosis, like the self-muttering of someone on the brink of death.

"Grinya..."

Lu Xun suddenly froze. He no longer cared about the apocalyptic scenes on the screen. He kept replaying that sentence in his headphones, his pupils filled with disbelief.

Was that Grinya's voice?

In other words, the character he was controlling was crying out to him for help?

Lu Xun suddenly felt a wave of horror.

Because that voice was so humble, so weak, as if she were right in front of him and about to die.

Lu Xun began to lose the distinction between reality and fiction.

For the first time, he didn't treat this game as a virtual life but truly mistook it for a living existence, so much so that his fingers suddenly began to tremble.

His gaze shifted shakily toward the character's SAN value in the bottom right corner of the interface. It was almost an empty bar, with only a solitary digit standing there.

"1."!

That digit was flashing at a low frequency, like a silent resistance.

"How did this happen?" Lu Xun was stunned. He was just using a cheat; how could the character's SAN value drop to such an extent?

Lu Xun's brain suddenly exploded with a "duang."

'I won't be penalized by the game's anti-cheat system, will I?'

'What a scam! You're a single-player game with nothing better to do than set up a damn anti-cheat system!'

He suddenly recalled the last time he fought that level 20 Shapeshifting Banshee. When he first started adjusting the parameters, the screen seemed to lag for a moment. However, after he turned the parameters back, there were no more issues.

So he had already been detected for cheating back then?

Listening to the occasional groans of pain from his headphones, Lu Xun's heart ached for some reason.

He gritted his teeth. "Fine, if I can't use them, I won't!"

He turned back and nimbly reset all the values. Sure enough, once he set those ridiculous values and mechanisms like the one-hit kill back to normal, the piercing static in his headphones fell silent instantly. The apocalyptic scene of the world shaking on the screen was replaced in the next second by a peaceful day. The flesh mutations on Duke Dagro and the knight commander also disappeared, and everything returned to normal.

Except for the various damaged buildings in the palace and the fact that everyone was still in a deep sleep, it was as if everything that had just happened had never occurred.

Only King Weis's eyes were still fixed on her.

King Weis climbed up from the ground. As the ruler of a kingdom, he didn't seem to care whether his pathetic performance just now was a breach of royal etiquette. At this moment, he was only focused on the young girl before him.

Lu Xun had just breathed a sigh of relief. Before he could even catch his breath, he sensed that the King's state was very wrong.

Judging by the black particle effects constantly emanating from him, the King was now a completely different person from before.

He lightly coughed up some black blood, his gaze burning as he spoke. "So, you are the newly born deity!"

Before the girl could respond, he suddenly said to himself, "That arm of mine, is it with you?"

Lu Xun was taken aback, not quite reacting.

Arm?

Where would he have...

Oh—he remembered. There seemed to be an arm in his inventory.

The Hand of the Plague God!

A hint of realization appeared in Grinya's hollow eyes. She looked as if she were taking a leisurely stroll, completely relaxed, as if the world-destroying scene from earlier had nothing to do with her.

She walked up to King Weis and looked down at this King who was vastly different from before.

"Are you the Plague God?" she asked.

She seemed very calm, showing no panic despite the person before her being an evil god. Her tone was as indifferent as if she were commenting on the weather.

King Weis's face crumpled into a frown. He heard the arrogance in her tone, and being scrutinized so freely felt like an insult to it.

Nevertheless, it tried its best to speak calmly:

"I have never heard of your name, but I imagine you and I should both be counted among the camp of evil gods. The corruption level you displayed just now was very high; your godhood is likely not below mine.

This era is one where the gods have long been severed. Whichever deity awakens first will be the first to grasp the entire world.

Your degree of recovery is high, but I also have a group of loyal followers to assist me. If you and I join forces, would the entire world not fall under our control?"
