Chapter 156 | Reborn as a Saint in a Rotten World, I Refuse to Submit

They were much faster than me. After all, I needed time to chant.

To stop me, they had completely omitted their chants, casting magic directly.

While this reduced their attack power, it allowed for a rapid response.

Ligeia concentrated all her mana and simultaneously issued an order to the two thousand skysoar dragons in the sky.

'Kill these people!'

In an instant, the two thousand skysoar dragons opened their mouths in unison. Their dragon breath flames surged forward like a wall of fire, sweeping across the battlefield!

Boom—!

Despite the barrier of dragon breath from the two thousand skysoar dragons, Victor's side did not manage to block everything.

And behind them, there were no obstacles at all.

Ligeia's chant rang out at that very moment!

"O unknown and ancient elements! Reveal your hidden power—Spatial Lock!!"

Boom—!

A thunderous roar soared into the sky, and the sound was instantly drowned out by clouds of dust. As light radiated in every direction...

The area where the Saint's Carriage stood was completely swallowed by the sound and light!

All sound seemed to recede. All the explosions merged into one, finally converging into a piercing hum.

Countless people lowered their weapons and stopped their spells, staring toward the Saint's Carriage.

As the noise faded and the dust began to scatter, a voice rang out from within the haze once more.

"In the name of Luo Li Saint Sariel, I beseech you to awaken from your eternal slumber and bring forth the light for us!!"

"Oh no!!"

Victor cried out in alarm, but it was already too late to do anything.

"Hero Creation—!"

The girl's voice echoed across the wilderness. As if in response to her, following those words, a beam of moonlight crashed down from the sky!!

Boom—!

Victor's eyes widened as he stared intently into the dust. In that instant, he suddenly felt a powerful pressure permeating the surroundings.

Even the dust in the sky, which had been slowly dissipating, crashed to the ground in that moment!

It was as if an invisible giant hand had slammed it down!

Around the Saint's Carriage, more than fifty knights had sustained various degrees of injury, yet the Saint's Carriage itself stood there completely unscathed.

On the carriage, beside the holy girl...

Ligeia stood with her head bowed, her entire body radiating an incredibly majestic aura that seemed to fill the very world around her.

"Sacred Knight—Virginia, I have come in response to your summons. It is a pleasure to meet you, Saintess of the Moon, Your Highness Luo Li."

Accompanied by a clear, elegant voice, Virginia slowly raised her head. Her eyes were tightly shut, yet she spoke to Luo Li as if she could see her presence without the need for sight.

"Thank you for responding, Lady Virginia."

Seeing Virginia with her eyes closed, I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As the only woman among the Sacred Knights, Virginia's strength was absolutely peerless.

She slowly turned her head to 'look' at the people in the distance.

"Are those people the enemies of Your Highness Luo Li? But... why are they not the demon race?"

Clearly, she was somewhat confused as to why the enemies before her were not the hideous, wicked demon race, but a group of humans.

"Lady Virginia, they are rebels. Furthermore, I suspect that some among them may have already made contact with the demon race."

Virginia paused for a moment, as if sensing something, and then nodded.

"I did not expect that you, who cannot distinguish the demon race, would be able to guess the situation so accurately. Such intelligence is truly worthy of a Saintess..."

At this point, Virginia turned to 'look' at me, only to pause again.

"However... your level seems a bit too low. You really need to train more. Perhaps I should give you some pointers?"

"Uh... Lady Virginia, I am aware of that, but that is not the focus right now."

This woman... why is she so blunt?

Are all Sacred Knights this literal-minded??

"Very well. It seems time is indeed short. We must resolve the trouble before us first."

She slowly raised her head, seemingly 'seeing' the skysoar dragons in the sky.

She looked at me with a serious expression and pointed toward the sky, inquiring:

"Should I also annihilate the dragons in the sky?"

"No... those were obtained through a contract I signed with the Dragon King. Please don't..."

"The Dragon King?? Do you mean Mr. Asfield?"

"Yes."

"In that case, you are quite wealthy. The Mr. Asfield I know doesn't lift a finger unless there is money involved."

"..."

Seriously, is that the point right now? Can we not read the room before saying such things?

"Um, Lady Virginia, shouldn't we focus on how to solve the current trouble first??"

Virginia blinked, then struck her right palm with her left fist in a moment of sudden realization.

"Oh~ I almost forgot about that."

Did I summon the wrong person?

Is this Virginia really the one hailed as the invincible Sacred Knight?

"My apologies. It has been a long time since I have spoken to anyone, and I got a bit carried away."

"Um, Lady Virginia, let's just focus on the situation at hand."

(′Д`)

Next time.

I definitely won't summon you next time!

She nodded, then turned back to 'look' at Fitch Garnet.

"What? Do you still intend to hide in my presence?"

Fitch Garnet's expression changed instantly, and he took half a step back. He seemed to feel a sliver of fear under Virginia's 'gaze.'

However, he followed it with a loud laugh.

"Hahaha—ugh!"

The laughter was cut short. Fitch stared down in shock at the wound piercing his chest.

Standing right in front of him was Virginia.

"Sorry, I almost forgot we were in a hurry. No more talk. I'll just kill you now."

Virginia spoke with a flat expression.

At this moment, I really wanted to say something on Fitch's behalf.

Say something before you attack!

You only spoke after you made your move!

Fitch spat out a mouthful of blood, but... the blood was black.

Seeing this, Victor's expression shifted drastically!

"Mr. Fitch, you are actually... from the demon race!?"

At this moment, Victor's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot.

Clearly, he had not expected this turn of events at all.

This was no longer just a political coup.

This was a racial war between the demon race and humanity!

Fitch stumbled back, clutching his chest. His body began to expand visibly, rapidly growing from his original height of about 1.7 meters into a massive form over three meters tall.

"So what if I am of the demon race? At least I..."

Fitch seemed intended to say something, but in the next second... a slender palm swung through the air toward him.

A muffled explosion rang out.

Fitch's head burst instantly, like a water balloon being smashed.

At the same time, Virginia offered another apology.

"I almost forgot, you have to cut off a demon's head. I'm sorry for not bringing a blade. I had to use my palm. I hope you didn't feel any pain."

The headless corpse slumped to the ground. Countless people watched the scene in horror.

In this moment, the girl reflected in their eyes looked like a devil.

Well... he certainly didn't feel any pain, since it was an instantaneous death.

Virginia was already moving again.

Her entire body was enveloped in a dense holy energy. Unlike the male Sacred Knights, every one of her movements contained an incredibly massive and chaotic holy energy.

A casual swipe of her hand was like the full-power strike of a level thirty or forty mage.

It was exactly like the legends.

Among all the Sacred Knights, only two people could achieve this level.

And both of them had once refused to become the Saintess or the Pope.

Instead, they chose to remain knights.

One of them was the Virginia standing before me.

Her physical strength was not exceptionally high; it was likely comparable to an average level sixty knight.

But the holy energy she possessed was unimaginably vast.

And that brought about this miraculous and terrifying power.

Every movement was filled with violent holy energy.

Even a casual slap carried the power of a ship's cannon.

This energy surged around her, making it difficult for even weapons to scratch her skin.

She was also the only Sacred Knight who had never suffered a single scar in her entire life since becoming a knight.

In this moment, she transformed into a humanoid meat grinder. Wherever she passed, there weren't even screams.

One slap for each person, as easily as swatting mosquitoes, she killed the hundreds of men behind Fitch one by one.

I don't think I'll ever be able to forget this scene for the rest of my life.

Next, she turned her head toward Victor.

Although there were many powerful experts in the ranks behind Victor, they had already lost their morale.

Facing just one girl, the crowd of hundreds had fallen into a dead silence.

As she took a step forward, Victor and the hundreds behind him all retreated a step in unison.

Everyone stared at the girl's figure in terror. Even the sound of their breathing was clearly audible.

"Time is running out. After dealing with that side, I have to deal with you all. I must perform well this time, or what will I do if Your Highness Luo Li doesn't summon me again?"

As if talking to herself, Virginia took another step forward.

But this time, before her front foot even touched the ground, her figure became a blur.

In the next second, a muffled thud echoed from within the crowd opposite her. A man's head instantly turned into a mist of blood and flesh, flying everywhere!

Countless people turned their heads in unison, their gazes landing on the front of the group. There stood the headless body of Victor, the head of the Mage Association.
