Following that, under Count Gerard's watchful gaze, the others offered several suggestions, though none seemed as perfect to Gerard as Miss Stella's.
However, he did not make any immediate decisions that day; after a long discussion, he dismissed the group to return to their respective homes.
He intended to observe the situation for a while longer.
As he let everyone depart, he gave a serious instruction: "Each of you must remember to hide yourselves well from now on. Do not easily come into contact with anyone. If anyone is unfortunately caught, remember not to betray the others."
To this, everyone naturally promised their compliance.
Watching this scene, Olivia smiled but said nothing.
Subsequently, she also rose and bid farewell to Gerard.
Olivia was alone on the journey back; she took a carriage and unhurriedly returned to the Elijah Chamber of Commerce on Jasmine Street, eventually returning to her own room.
From here on, she did not need to do much more.
She believed that the internal structure of the Rose Legion would naturally change in the direction she desired.
This was because the church was already well aware of those gathered at Gerard's manor today; the reason they hadn't moved to arrest them in the past was simply to cast a long line to catch bigger fish.
But now, the church would inevitably begin arresting these people one after another.
Those baits were no longer useful for catching anything else; instead, they would only become obstacles to Olivia's advancement.
Olivia had already communicated with the church's internal hierarchy—as long as these people were gradually taken down, vacancies would open up within the Rose Legion, necessitating the promotion of new members, and Olivia would surely be among those promoted.
So she would wait, slowly wait.
Olivia teleported back to her home at No. 88 Annus Street in the South District and began training her abilities.
Now that she had become a transcender, there were several new abilities she could master, and she tried to train them every day, attempting to grasp them through practice.
The training methods were also provided by the magic mirror, ensuring she could master them as quickly as possible.
Actually, among them, the ability known as the Eye of Discernment was, in the magic mirror's judgment, nearly mastered by Olivia.
This ability allowed her to see through certain illusions and even perceive mysterious things invisible to the naked eye, so she was quite interested in it.
Now back home, Olivia went into her bedroom.
She had specifically pushed the bedroom bed next to the window to ensure that the moonlight from outside could shine down and envelop the entire bed.
After taking several bottles and jars out of the Amber Tears, she lay down on the bed.
Then, she opened one bottle and dripped the liquid inside into her eyes.
In an instant, she felt a cool sensation in both eyes as a gentle power began to permeate them.
This was part of the training, a special method.
Even within the church, even among other ascetics, none had mastered this rapid method of gaining the Eye of Discernment.
This was a method created by the magic mirror itself based on transcendent information.
The liquids were prepared using spiritual materials, consisting of three types in total.
After dripping the first bottle, Olivia lay still, waiting for her eyes to absorb the liquid before picking up the second bottle and continuing to drop the mysterious liquid into her eyes.
The spiritual power diffused through her eyes, bringing a very peculiar sensation; Olivia felt as though her vision had become exceptionally keen.
Even with the liquid flowing in her eyes now, she kept them open without discomfort, able to see the environment outside the window clearly.
The moonlight was intoxicating, the trees swayed, and the outlines of Kaliron's buildings loomed in the dark night.
But before long, that looming feeling faded, replaced by a sense of absolute clarity.
Suddenly, Olivia's gaze sharpened.
She saw white shadows emerging from the void, one after another.
Those white shadows looked human-like, yet they seemed to be mere outlines, aimlessly walking through the void in one direction.
Could these be the so-called things invisible to the naked eye?
Olivia immediately asked, "Magic mirror, what are those?"
A small mirror emerged from her palm, glowing with a mysterious luster.
【These are ghosts, Master.】
Ghosts?
That was not a pleasant word; even hearing it, Olivia felt a bit uneasy deep down.
She whispered her questions to the magic mirror and soon understood the situation.
In simple terms, after a life ends, the remaining soul emerges as a ghost, aimlessly drifting in places the deceased had visited until the soul energy eventually dissipates and vanishes into nothingness.
This was simply a natural phenomenon belonging to this world.
Of course, there were also transcenders on certain transcendent paths who could utilize ghosts as their own power.
As for the church's attitude toward ghosts, they let nature take its course, not interfering and allowing them to dissipate naturally.
Olivia watched with her own eyes as a ghost vanished right before her.
Speaking of which, this couldn't be Fiona's ghost, could it?
No, it shouldn't be, because there were many other ghosts drifting around.
The number of ghosts was higher than she had imagined, indicating that a ghost could exist for quite a while after a person died.
"Magic mirror, I can see ghosts now. Does that mean I've successfully mastered the Eye of Discernment?"
【Yes, Master, you are truly a peerless genius in this world.】
To such flattery, Olivia could only respond with a light chuckle.
She blinked her eyes, gradually becoming familiar with the Eye of Discernment.
This ability was divided into passive and active parts; when not actively activated, she could see things invisible to the naked eye, such as ghosts.
When actively activated, she could consume magic power to allow these eyes to see through illusions.
"This ability gives me a feeling of being able to see the world more thoroughly; it's quite nice... Hmm? What is that?"
Suddenly, Olivia narrowed her eyes and sat up on the bed.
She looked toward the distant night sky and saw a carriage driving through the air.
The entire carriage looked as if it were condensed from mist, possessing an unstable, ethereal quality.
When the carriage drove past some ghosts, it would crash right through them, shattering them.
The shattered ghosts would then turn into wisps of white smoke and be absorbed into the carriage's cabin.
What on earth was that?
