Chapter 230 | Reincarnated as a Heretical Nun

Just as this thought occurred to him, Preston felt he might be overthinking things.

When the Village of Oblivion had left him, it had transmitted emotions of fear and even submission.

Under such circumstances, the Village of Oblivion would naturally not bring any backlash to Olivia.

Taking a deep breath, Preston unleashed his domain.

"In my domain, forbidden artifacts cannot be used."

Preston whispered.

Such a domain rule caused Olivia to look over with a spark of interest.

Because normally, a domain could not establish such a rule; forbidden artifacts were far too powerful. They would simply drain a massive amount of magic power without the rule ever truly taking hold.

A simple domain indeed wouldn't suffice.

But what Preston intended to do was not rely on a simple domain to achieve this.

While setting up the domain and establishing the rule, Preston quickly pulled one forbidden artifact after another from his spatial tool.

Pocket watches, candles, umbrellas, telescopes... forbidden artifacts of various forms appeared one by one.

Clearly, he possessed a great many forbidden artifacts.

This might seem incredible to others, but for a Protagonist of the Era, it wasn't particularly shocking.

As a Protagonist of the Era, it was normal to have a few more forbidden artifacts.

Furthermore, Preston had the Time Chamber of Commerce behind him.

This was the largest chamber of commerce in the world, possessing countless riches and an appalling number of forbidden artifacts, more than enough to serve as Preston's greatest backing.

After taking out these numerous forbidden artifacts, Preston merged them into his domain.

He used the power of the forbidden artifacts to strengthen his domain, thereby strengthening the rules within it, instantly exerting an effect that was previously impossible.

In an instant, the entire Village of Oblivion began to shake violently.

The visual effect was that the entire world began to wobble, as if it were about to shatter at any moment.

As the current free agent of the Village of Oblivion, Olivia had already sensed that the artifact was losing its effectiveness—at the very least, her infinite flashing ability was gone.

"Truly a Protagonist of the Era," Olivia murmured softly.

To be able to merge forbidden artifacts into a domain to strengthen it—this was a method even she was seeing for the first time.

"How is it? Are you surprised? Does it feel unbelievable? Is it completely incomprehensible? You can't see through my methods at all."

Preston looked at Olivia, confidence reappearing on his face.

Not all Protagonists of the Era were the same; even other Protagonists of the Era couldn't possibly understand the methods he used, because they were unique to him alone.

Therefore, he was very confident that Olivia could not see through his methods.

At this moment, Olivia no longer had the ability of infinite flashing, and Preston gripped his twin blades once more. Violent winds swirled around him as he prepared to charge and strike again.

At this time, Olivia smiled and said, "There's nothing that can't be seen through. In the end, it's all about contracts."

"I must say, your luck is exceptional, to have obtained a blank contract left by the gods."

"This kind of thing isn't a forbidden artifact, but since it's connected to a deity, it's naturally more powerful than forbidden artifacts and can suppress them."

"It is by relying on this Contract of the Gods that you can sign contracts with various forbidden artifacts without worrying about their backlash."

"You can even use the contract to make forbidden artifacts do many incredible things, such as merging them into your domain."

"These are abilities the forbidden artifacts didn't originally possess, but with the help of the Contract of the Gods, the impossible has become possible."

"It's an interesting method, but do you think you can defeat me after excluding the influence of forbidden artifacts?"

As Olivia finished speaking, Preston froze in place, looking at her in disbelief.

How did she know?

Just how did she know?

The Contract of the Gods was his greatest secret; hardly anyone in the Time Chamber of Commerce knew about it. How could she possibly know?

Preston felt it was utterly absurd and chaotic, finding Olivia increasingly impossible to see through.

However, after the initial shock, his disciplined mental state allowed him to calm down quickly.

"Without the interference of forbidden artifacts, I can certainly win against you."

In truth, for Preston, who possessed the Contract of the Gods, the best way to fight was through the forbidden artifacts he had already contracted.

But the situation earlier, where Olivia had caused the Village of Oblivion to defect, left him perpetually confused and wary. This was why he hadn't chosen forbidden artifacts as his primary means of combat.

He was afraid that using forbidden artifacts as his primary method would lead to even more artifacts defecting to Olivia's side. That would be like funding the enemy and would only make him more vulnerable.

So he ultimately chose to ban forbidden artifacts and settle this battle relying only on his own transcendent abilities.

Of course, saying that wasn't entirely accurate.

Because the Contract of the Gods wasn't limited to establishing contracts with forbidden artifacts; it could also contract everything in the world that one could grow close to.

For example, elements!

Elements were like the air, existing everywhere yet remaining elusive and impossible to communicate with.

But with the Contract of the Gods, one could use an inexplicable power to reach a contract with an element.

Preston had reached a contract with the wind element, making himself like a beloved child of the wind. Even without the influence of forbidden artifacts, his combat power had reached a level that could be described as world-shaking.

As his voice fell, Preston was already enveloped in a gale, rushing toward Olivia.

Facing such an opponent, Olivia could only take out Cross Grace and prepare for battle.

As for deploying her own domain to cancel out Preston's, that was impossible.

Because the opponent's domain had been strengthened by multiple forbidden artifacts, it had reached a different level of rules, so she had no way to negate it.
