Chapter 232 | Reincarnated as a Heretical Nun

As a Protagonist of the Era, Preston had always been able to maintain an absolute advantage in his past battles. Like a hunter toying with its prey or a cat playing with a mouse, he could easily keep the situation under his control.

He had never experienced such a passive situation as today's.

Before today, he felt that even if he faced other Protagonists of the Era, he should be able to display an evenly matched performance.

He had never imagined that he, a Protagonist of the Era, could possibly be suppressed.

He clearly possessed a "cheat" of his own.

Was there really nothing he could do against Olivia?

Preston had thought about reactivating his forbidden artifacts, but thinking of the fate of the Village of Oblivion, he didn't dare use them.

If he did that, his other forbidden artifacts would likely throw themselves into Olivia's embrace, which would only make things even more troublesome for him.

Now, it seemed there was only one way left.

Preston's greatest backing was that blank Contract of the Gods.

This Contract of the Gods allowed him to sign a contract with anything—whether it was a tangible object or an intangible force—as long as it was an existence whose name could be spoken, it could be targeted for a contract.

It could sign contracts with forbidden artifacts, with elemental powers, and of course, with people.

Unable to break through after attacking for so long, Preston quickly retreated. With a solemn expression, he began to chant in Sylvan Runes.

“This is the contract of the gods; this is the inviolable law. May the gods witness this together.”

Preston summoned the Contract of the Gods in a low voice.

In the next moment, the contract emerged in front of Preston.

The contract looked like a scroll-like medium, emitting a brilliant golden light as it floated there, a sense of holy majesty spreading from it.

When the contract appeared before him, Preston immediately pointed at Olivia.

“I wish to sign a contract with you. From this day forward, you are my servant. You shall obey all my orders and instructions; you will do whatever I command without defiance, or you shall die.”

Accompanying Preston's words, the light on the Contract of the Gods seemed to brighten by several degrees.

At the same time, a majestic will spread out, surging into Olivia's mind.

That was the power of the contract, urging her to sign it with Preston.

Had it been someone with a slightly weaker will, they would likely have signed the contract without hesitation under the influence of its power, becoming Preston's puppet from then on.

But Olivia felt nothing in her heart.

Her will and her soul were protected by the magic mirror, so she naturally wouldn't be affected in the slightest.

At this moment, her eyes actually lit up.

“Have you finally been forced to use the Contract of the Gods?”

This was exactly what Olivia had been waiting for.

Preston was looking for an opportunity to defeat her, and she was also looking for an opportunity.

Of course, the opportunity she sought was not to defeat Preston, but to take possession of this Contract of the Gods.

Before Preston summoned it, this Contract of the Gods remained hidden in the void of space, and Olivia had no way to interfere with it.

But now that the contract had appeared in the main world, everything was different.

‘Magic mirror, tell me how to take control of this contract.’

Olivia quickly inquired in her mind.

The magic mirror also quickly provided an answer.

Controlling a Contract of the Gods was actually not that difficult.

After the Contracts of the Gods were created, each one actually belonged to a specific deity.

The deity to whom this particular Contract of the Gods belonged had already fallen.

The magic mirror did not know exactly who it was, but it was able to judge this based on the aura present on the Contract of the Gods.

Because of this, this Contract of the Gods had become an ownerless item.

But even so, this Contract of the Gods could still be controlled through a special method.

That former deity could control the Contract of the Gods through a simple incantation.

With the fall of that deity, the incantation had also fallen into oblivion; normally, no one should be able to know it.

But the magic mirror could.

Because the Contract of the Gods itself still carried traces of the related incantation's information, which the magic mirror understood the instant the contract appeared.

Thus, the magic mirror told the incantation to Olivia.

This incantation needed to be spoken in Sylvan Runes.

Olivia's mastery of Sylvan Runes was quite good now, and she immediately spoke the incantation with a standard accent.

“In the name of God, in my name, I command you to return to my hand. I shall use you to define the rules between gods and establish a bridge of exchange between gods; this is the honor I bestow upon you.”

Following the Sylvan Runes chanted by Olivia, the Contract of the Gods—which was in front of Preston and being used by him to try and enslave her—suddenly broke away from its original position and flew toward Olivia.

This scene truly left Preston stunned, unable to understand what was happening.

He subconsciously tried to control his connection with the Contract of the Gods to call it back, but the Contract of the Gods gave no response.

This phenomenon caused Preston to panic in a very real sense, his eyes filled with disbelief.

He hadn't dared to use his forbidden artifacts because he feared they would malfunction and turn against him in favor of Olivia.

But he truly never expected that even a special item like the Contract of the Gods would be affected and fly toward Olivia.

How could this be?

Under Preston's dazed gaze, the Contract of the Gods arrived in front of Olivia.

Olivia took the contract into her hand with a smile.

At this moment, because of that previous sentence in Sylvan Runes, the Contract of the Gods had already recognized her as its master.

Holding the Contract of the Gods, Olivia looked it over and noticed the various contract clauses currently recorded upon it.

For instance, the contract Preston had signed with the wind element and the contracts he had signed with numerous forbidden artifacts were all displayed there.

Looking at the contents of these contracts, Olivia did not hesitate to speak again.

Using Sylvan Runes and following the contract-nullification instructions provided by the magic mirror, she immediately spoke to invalidate all the contracts Preston had signed upon the Contract of the Gods.
