Chapter 42 | Reincarnated as a Heretical Nun

In Olivia's mind, a newspaper article surfaced. She had read about the incident at the Soltu Statue Gallery on Baker Street, which stated that the sounds of fighting would occur at night, yet whenever anyone entered, they would find that nothing had happened.

This strange occurrence was suspected to involve transcendent factors and had already been handed over to the church for processing.

But why was someone injured because of it now?

Thinking of this, Olivia immediately mentioned the matter to the others in the carriage.

Ronan nodded. "That should be it. I remember the person responsible for this case is Gray Campbell. Although he doesn't follow the orthodox transcendent path of the church, he is still a very reliable person. I don't know why something happened that caused innocent people to get hurt... regardless, we must be careful."

The group nodded in agreement.

Olivia, meanwhile, asked in her heart.

'Magic mirror, magic mirror, what transcendent path does Gray Campbell follow, and what is his position in the church?'

【Gray Campbell's transcendent path is Card Master; he is currently a deacon.】

Card Master?

Olivia was a bit surprised; this was a transcendent path she had never heard of.

She couldn't help but ask the magic mirror about the abilities of each class rank for a Card Master, and the mirror's answer was very detailed.

After understanding the Card Master path, Olivia continued to ask internally.

'Magic mirror, magic mirror, what is the situation at the Soltu Statue Gallery?'

【Currently, the church has not discovered any specific situation.】

Since the church hadn't found anything, there was naturally no relevant intelligence recorded at the Sunlight Cathedral, so the magic mirror had no way of knowing the answer.

By then, the carriage was approaching the Soltu Statue Gallery.

This gallery was a well-known establishment on Baker Street, possessing a certain level of fame throughout the South District and even all of Kaliron. It was situated at the end of a vast square.

At this moment, the gallery was brightly lit, and the sounds of intense fighting were emanating from within. The clanging sounds were incessant, and just hearing them made one's heart tighten unconsciously.

"I'll go ahead; you guys follow a step behind."

As the carriage drew near, Ronan spoke and jumped out.

As the one with the highest class rank, he took the lead and rushed forward, entering the gallery with light steps.

The others followed closely behind.

Olivia had already distributed some talismans to the group and carried some herself, entering now with a solemn expression.

Inside the massive gallery, the environment was exceptionally spacious, with the dome reaching a height of twenty meters.

In this vast space, the first things to catch the eye were two enormous statues.

Each statue was approximately three meters tall.

One statue was silver-gray, shaped like a knight, holding a sword in its right hand and a shield in its left, clad in battle armor.

The other statue was blackish in hue and held a long spear with both hands.

These statues were supposed to be works of art, meant to stand still for exhibition, but now they were moving, launching a fierce assault on a single person.

The person being attacked wore clerical robes. His face was sharp as if carved by a knife, and he had a small mustache. He was jumping and diving to dodge, looking somewhat disheveled.

He held a deck of cards in his hands. While dodging, he would throw cards one by one as a counterattack. Each card flew out like a throwing knife, carrying a sharp, piercing sensation.

Facing such attacks, the statue with the sword and shield would raise its shield to block, choosing not to take the hits directly, while the spear-wielding statue would dodge. This was enough to show that the cards' lethality was not simple.

'Chain Cards... this is an ability only possessed by a Card Master after their second advancement. During the first advancement, it's called Card Throwing Knife, where only one card can be thrown at a time. After advancing, they can be thrown continuously, and the lethality increases greatly. Even so, he still looks quite strained facing two statues.'

Olivia quickly assessed the situation on the field.

This Card Master currently fighting was indeed the Gray Campbell that Ronan had mentioned.

Besides Gray, several other members of the clergy lay on the ground nearby, blood flowing beneath them and staining their robes. Their condition was clearly not good.

The sudden arrival of the group clearly caught Gray's attention.

His mustache twitched as he hurriedly shouted, "Ronan, help me quickly! Otherwise, in a few days, you'll be reminiscing about our past moments in front of my tombstone."

"Don't make it sound like we have some kind of weird relationship," Ronan replied, his face darkening.

Nevertheless, he rushed forward. As an Arbiter, he also possessed his own spiritual weapon. He opened his hand and grasped at the void; his hands were immediately enveloped in a layer of light. As the light dissipated, a pair of red gloves was already fitted onto his hands.

With a low shout, he charged and leaped. Using the momentum of his run and jump, he swung a heavy punch, crashing into the shield raised by the statue. The impact forced the sword-and-shield statue back several steps.

"We'll support them. Vanessa, Rocas, go check on the wounded," Raymond took over the command in Ronan's stead.

Rocas and Vanessa immediately moved into action upon hearing the order.

Olivia placed her hand at her neck, ready to take off the Cross Grace at any moment.

Gray, having caught his breath, was very excited. "Ronan, you arrived at the perfect time. If the enemy weren't right in front of us, I would definitely give you a big hug."

"In that case, I should be thankful there's an enemy present," Ronan said with a look of disgust. He then asked, "So, what exactly is going on here?"

Turning to business, Gray's expression became serious. "Have you heard about the incident at the Soltu Statue Gallery before? Every night, fighting sounds would come from here, but no matter who entered, they found nothing. The answer is that those who entered were spotted in advance, so the statues that were fighting each other returned to their original positions and pretended to be statues. Today, after hearing the fighting, I used some tricks to sneak in secretly and wasn't discovered by these statues beforehand."

Once Gray explained, everyone understood.

Gray gritted his teeth. "These two statues were originally fighting each other, but I couldn't stay hidden after coming in. Once they found me, they actually teamed up to attack me, as if trying to silence a witness. I really was about to reach my limit."
