The smile on the young man’s face was clearly very approachable, appearing almost shy.
But for some reason, the old man’s scalp prickled. Then, he heard the other party continue.
“But as a noble young master from the Central City, it’s not unusual for me to have a few self-preservation methods, is it?”
As he spoke, the lantern-carrying ghost raised its lantern. A wisp of fire flew out from it, coiling toward the old man.
The old man still didn’t dodge or hide, allowing the fire to pass right through his body.
“It’s useless. You are my witness, the proof of my existence.”
“As long as you do not die, I will not die. Like I said before, I shall live forever within your body!”
He made a hugging gesture as he spoke. Behind him, the mountain of corpses and sea of blood instantly boiled, and the skulls within the sea of blood crashed against one another.
The red of the blood and the white of the skeletons were blindingly sharp at this moment!
“Then what is your goal?”
“You did all this just to live inside my body?”
Yin Yang stood under the lantern-carrying ghost’s umbrella. Not only was he not afraid, but his expression was actually quite inquisitive.
This was a novelty to him; he had never seen, or even heard of, this kind of method before.
“To allow the True God to descend, of course!”
The old man’s expression was fanatical.
Hearing this, Yin Yang’s expression became increasingly puzzled.
“The True God’s descent? I’m curious—why are you so obsessed with making Him descend?”
“Didn’t you guys already cause that black cloud incident? Wasn’t that the True God’s descent?”
“Since He has already descended, why does He need to do it again? Don’t tell me your so-called True God is so massive that He has to descend piece by piece?”
The old man didn’t answer. His body swelled, and in an instant, his height exceeded thirty meters. His voice boomed like a humming vibration.
“You ask too many questions. Didn’t you want to know what I plan to do? You’ll find out right now.”
As he spoke, he brought a foot down toward Yin Yang. Yin Yang didn’t even move; beside him, the lantern-carrying ghost raised its large umbrella, easily defending against the stomp.
“You said earlier that this is inside my body, right?”
“Combined with the fact that I can still think and even summon my companions, there’s a high probability that we are inside my consciousness.”
The old man didn’t respond to Yin Yang. He simply whipped up the sea of blood, sending it crashing toward Yin Yang.
The skulls within the blood sea clattered their jaws up and down, making for a terrifying scene.
“From the very beginning, you conjured this scene of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, then told me you are immortal and indestructible before turning yourself into a giant.”
“You’re trying to intimidate me, aren’t you?”
At these words, the old man’s movements faltered for a tiny, subtle moment.
The corners of Yin Yang’s mouth curled up. The blade-wielding ghost turned into a streak of black light, circling the giant’s arm and slicing it into minced meat.
But before the shredded flesh could even fall, it flew back as if time were backtracking.
In an instant, it was restored to its original state, as if nothing had happened.
The smile on Yin Yang’s face grew even wider.
“You really are interesting. You actually managed to parasitize my consciousness.”
“Are you from the Thief pathway? Or are you using some kind of transcendent item or sealed object?”
“Where do you get so many questions?!”
Yin Yang’s non-stop questioning drove the other party into a rage.
With a wave of his right hand, the skulls in the blood sea flew out one after another.
These skulls combined with each other, transforming into a massive hammer that he gripped in his hand.
“Go ask in hell!”
He smashed it down with immense force, the momentum so grand it seemed to change the very color of the world.
“Oh? Hell?”
The Headless Ghost’s body also grew in size. It raised its hands, catching and supporting the massive hammer.
Yin Yang tilted his head.
“I went through so much trouble to crawl back from hell. Why do you all want to push me back?”
Hearing this, the black-robed man felt his scalp crawl!
‘What kind of monster did I parasitize? Is he someone completely devoid of fear?’
‘There’s something wrong with this kid. He might become a variable. I have to get out of here and relay what happened to my main body.’
“I’m afraid you won’t be able to leave.”
A voice abruptly appeared in the black-robed old man’s heart, startling him.
He snapped his gaze toward Yin Yang, his face full of disbelief.
Yin Yang still wore that same gentle smile; anyone looking at him would call him a bright and handsome young man.
But it was this very smile that made the other man’s skin crawl.
“You’ve disappointed me.”
The black-robed old man was stunned by Yin Yang’s words. Then, he heard Yin Yang continue.
“I thought you could give me some kind of surprise, since the method you used was something I’d never seen before. But the fact that you attacked my consciousness from the start shows that this is the only way you can erase me, right?”
“Then what’s the difference between you and a Nightmare?”
“Heh, this is the difference!”
The black-robed old man’s body suddenly exploded, merging into the surrounding sea of blood.
At the same time, a magnificent voice echoed from all directions.
“I shall be with you.”
“All your thoughts, judgments, and decisions will be accompanied by me.”
“I don’t need to replace you or kill you, because I am you!”
Yin Yang smiled again at those words.
“Oh? Since you are me, then I’m sure you have the same spirit of selfless devotion as I do, right?”
“I usually turn my own spirituality into sacrifices to feed the heroic spirits. Since you are me, I’m sure you’d be very happy to take my place and feed them, wouldn’t you?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? What sacrifices? What heroic spirits? Don’t you understand yet? I am you! Harming me is the same as harming yourself!”
Yin Yang shook his head with a sigh, looking at the sea of blood before him as if he were looking at an idiot.
“No, the one who doesn’t understand is you.”
“Why do you think I spent so much time chatting with you?”
“Hmm?”
The black-robed old man keenly sensed something was wrong. Waves rippled through the sea of blood as he heard Yin Yang’s savage laugh.
“Because I was afraid you’d run away!”
Hum~
The sea of blood began to change. It was as if the scenery shifted from a realistic style to something far more exaggerated.
Everything around them began to twist, and buildings started to emerge.
The black-robed old man’s voice turned frantic.
“You—you, you!”
Yin Yang held out his hands, making a matching hugging gesture.
“Welcome to my divine kingdom!”
Phantoms of heroic spirits emerged one after another, their eyes glowing as they stared at the sea of blood.
Seeing this, Yin Yang smiled and waved his hand.
“Enjoy the sacrifice.”
The heroic spirits swarmed forward, frantically devouring the sea of blood and the skulls.
The black-robed old man let out scream after scream.
“What are these things?! Why?! How can they find me?!”
The corners of Yin Yang’s mouth curled up.
“This fragment of your consciousness is like being in an offline state. Although it can record information, it can only upload what you’ve experienced during this time once you reconnect with your main body.”
“To keep my secrets, I had no choice but to use this method to keep you here.”
“You said it yourself—harming you is harming me. Sigh, I am also very pained, truly.”
As Yin Yang said this, he clutched his chest with an expression of feigned agony...
