A game?
The Cleaver Woman’s words were cryptic, but there was no time to ponder them now.
The two Demigods struck with increasing ferocity. The woman didn’t resist at all; she even moved to meet their attacks head-on. Within moments, she was heavily wounded and slumped to the ground like a tattered sack.
Despite being a Demigod, the power she displayed now was inferior even to a Sequence 7.
Splat!
The free-falling woman slammed into the earth, turning into a puddle of mangled flesh.
Mr. Yuan waved his right hand, and a small emerald-green gourd sprayed a burst of green mist that enveloped the remains.
Against such an eerie opponent, he had to finish her off properly, even if she had been reduced to a pulp!
The green mist dissolved the flesh in the blink of an eye.
Yin Yang, who was in the middle of retreating, looked on with a pained expression. It had all happened too quickly—so quickly that he hadn’t even had the chance to mark her with a Sacrifice Brand!
...
At the Security Bureau.
Mr. Qian listened to the massive explosions outside, then looked up at Bureau Chief Ye.
“Old Ye, can I trust you?”
“Of course! I might not be as strong as you, but on the day I joined the Security Bureau, I swore an oath before the War God statue.”
“Good. I’m going to check the situation. Keep a close eye on him!”
Without a backward glance, Mr. Qian turned and left.
By the time Bureau Chief Ye chased after him, the hallway was already empty.
Seeing this, he immediately closed the office door, turned back to Qin Ye, and spoke.
“Sir, I’ll help you escape.”
Qin Ye clenched his fists tightly. “I can’t leave. Do you really believe Qian Min went to help?”
“Huh?”
“He’s definitely waiting somewhere outside right now. If I leave, he’ll follow and tail me.”
“In that case, I might as well stay right here at the Security Bureau.”
“But the plan—”
Bureau Chief Ye was about to mention the plan, but Qin Ye silenced him with a sharp glare.
He immediately changed the subject. “Sir, how did you get involved with the Shadow Lotus Church? If word of this gets out, it will be very bad for your future.”
Qin Ye remained expressionless. “It doesn’t matter even if it gets out, because I was working undercover within the Shadow Lotus Church.”
“Then why didn’t you tell Old Qian?”
“What would be the point? Do you think he wouldn’t seize the opportunity to attack me anyway? Don’t forget whose man he is!”
Bureau Chief Ye nodded. “That makes sense. But if you stay at the Security Bureau, will it interfere with your main objective?”
Qin Ye shook his head. “What needed to be done is already finished. All that’s left is to wait.”
He sat down on the sofa and looked at Bureau Chief Ye. “I’ll stay here tonight.”
“Understood!”
Bureau Chief Ye agreed. Their entire conversation was heard clearly by Qian Min, who was standing just outside the wall.
He silently took out his phone, found Wan Tianqing’s contact information, and sent a line of text.
...
“Are you all right?”
After dealing with the Cleaver Woman and the stall owner, Mr. Yuan flew down to Yin Yang and asked.
“I’m fine.”
“How did you run into someone selling human meat again?”
“Sir, let me explain.”
Liu Hong raised his hand and recounted Yin Yang’s analysis and judgment.
Mr. Yuan nodded with satisfaction after hearing it, but still cautioned him.
“It’s good to be bold and observant, but it’s unwise to put yourself in danger.”
“If you encounter something like this again, contact me directly.”
Yin Yang scratched his head, looking somewhat embarrassed. “I was just afraid of it being a misunderstanding and making you waste a trip for nothing.”
“I’d rather waste a trip than have you fall into a trap.”
“Remember, safety is the most important thing. To me, you are never just an option!”
Mr. Yuan’s expression was incredibly serious, making Liu Hong look on with envy.
“I understand, Teacher,” Yin Yang replied.
Mr. Yu also flew over. “That woman definitely wasn’t the mastermind. She was acting very strange. For a Demigod to give up her life just like that... how big is the scheme they’re plotting?”
“It might be related to some kind of promotion ritual. With the war imminent, most of those who were going to show up probably have.”
“Yeah.”
The group talked as they walked back toward the dorms.
But just as they were about to reach the dorms, Yin Yang’s Perception screamed an alarm again!
He felt as if his scalp were about to explode!
Danger!
Danger!
Danger!
I’m going to die!
I’m going to die!
I’m going to die!
It was as if a tiny person in his mind was swinging an iron hammer, smashing everything in sight to warn him to leave.
He had felt this once before—it was from that Big-Eyed Evil God!
Except, back then, it hadn’t felt nearly this dangerous.
‘What’s going on? Has the evil god’s true body arrived?’
‘My divinity is almost entirely depleted. How am I supposed to handle this?’
‘No, wait, something’s wrong!’
‘If I can sense this danger, there’s no way Mr. Yu and Mr. Yuan can’t.’
As he pondered, they arrived at the dorm entrance.
Mr. Yu suddenly stopped Yin Yang and Liu Hong; he had finally noticed something was wrong.
At the dorm entrance, a security guard carrying a water thermos walked out. He looked at Mr. Yuan and Mr. Yu with the exact same smile as the Cleaver Woman.
“Old Yuan! Take them and go!”
Mr. Yu shouted, his divinity erupting from his body.
Crack.
Crack.
One student after another crashed through the windows and jumped down. Mr. Yu had no choice but to use his divinity to catch them.
Otherwise, at this height, they would be crippled if not killed.
But the moment Mr. Yu mobilized his divinity, the security guard appeared before him as if teleporting. His head split open, and where his brain should have been, a giant eyeball appeared.
Hum~
The eyeball emitted a burst of green light, shining directly onto Mr. Yu’s face.
Mr. Yu’s eyes instantly glazed over.
“Old Yu!”
Mr. Yuan roared, then looked at Liu Hong. “Take Zheng Yang and go! Find a safe place to hide. I’m going to save him!”
“Yes!”
Liu Hong knew he couldn’t help. Safely evacuating Yin Yang would be a contribution in itself.
He decisively grabbed Yin Yang and sprinted away, while Mr. Yuan charged toward the dorm to rescue his old friend.
But the moment he turned, the heads of the students Mr. Yu had just saved split open, revealing giant eyeballs inside each one.
These eyes simultaneously emitted light, focusing on Mr. Yuan.
Mr. Yuan bellowed, his divinity burning fiercely as he adopted a suicidal fighting style!
Gurgle, gurgle...
The giant eyeballs blinked, and the green light began to erode his divinity the moment it made contact.
‘It’s over.’
‘This damn thing can pollute divinity. I’ll be affected sooner or later.’
At that thought, the divinity on Mr. Yuan’s body burned even more violently. Without looking back, he screamed, “Zheng Yang! Liu Hong! Run! Don’t look back!!!”
His voice cracked, filled with tragic resolve.
As a Demigod, he knew exactly what the consequences of having his divinity polluted were.
Even if Mr. Qian, a Sequence 4, arrived now, it would be too late.
He was prepared to sacrifice himself to buy time for his two students to escape.
And right then, a cool, somewhat helpless voice rang out from behind him.
“Dismissing the God!”
