...
The city past eleven at night had yet to shed its bustle.
The brightly lit skyscrapers and the bustling streets and alleys all spoke of its prosperity.
However, everything in the world has two sides.
In a corner of the prosperous city, the buildings were low, lights were scarce, and darkness reigned.
This was the city's slum. People here rarely used electricity; some families didn't even have wiring.
This was a room in the slum where even the door wasn't locked. Like the other buildings, it appeared low, dilapidated, and dark in the night.
The ditch in front of the house emitted a pungent and foul odor.
Inside the room.
Aside from a cabinet that had collapsed due to its old legs, there was only a bed made of steel pipes of various sizes.
At this moment, Lan Qingyou, dressed in a blue-and-white striped hospital gown, lay on this bed, her eyes fixed on the red aviation obstacle lights flashing atop a skyscraper outside the window.
She thought, if she were to stand in a place like that and look down, it would surely be a wonderful, pleasant thing, wouldn't it?
She raised her hand to brush back the somewhat sticky long hair on her forehead, her cracked lips curling into a cynical smile.
It was as if she were truly standing atop that skyscraper right now.
Lan Qingyou, twenty years old.
Five years ago, she had a warm family—not exactly wealthy, but free from worries about food and clothing.
Everything changed five years ago after a car accident killed her parents and left her paralyzed in both legs.
The person who hit their car was a drunk scion of a wealthy family. After paying the compensation, he never appeared again.
The maternal grandmother and uncle’s family, whom she had initially trusted, cared for her for five years. After gaining her trust, they swindled her out of her parents' inheritance and most of the compensation money before vanishing.
Finally, three days ago, her caregiver conspired with her primary physician to take her remaining compensation money and dump her in this slum to die.
In the caregiver's words, this was a long-abandoned room in the slums; even if she died and rotted for a year, no one would notice.
During these three days, she hadn't eaten or drunk anything.
It was no different from waiting for death.
“You got your wish.”
Speaking with great difficulty in a raspy voice, Lan Qingyou slowly closed her eyes and waited for her death.
But just then, the sound of two people talking came from outside.
“Are you sure it's here? The door isn't even locked?”
“Yeah, a few days ago I saw a man and a woman, both well-dressed, coming out of here. They must have hidden something good.”
“Then let's go in and look. If there's nothing good, see how I'll deal with you.”
With that, the two pushed open the door and entered the room.
Then, Lan Qingyou saw two men, one tall and one short.
The tall one looked very thin, his eyes darting around shiftily, looking somewhat lecherous. The short one had a scar on his face and looked like a tough character.
In short, neither of them was a good person.
“This is the ‘good stuff’ you were talking about?”
Slap.
After seeing clearly what was in the room, the short scarred man jumped up and gave the tall one a loud slap across the face.
“It... it counts as good stuff, right? At least it can be sold for some money.”
The skinny lecherous man argued.
“Bullshit! Look at this woman's clothes—they're from a hospital! To be dumped here means she's not far from death. This kind of crap happens every year at the federal hospital. Let's go, let's go. This is so damn unlucky.”
Casting a glance at Lan Qingyou, who was staring at them from the bed, the scarred man spat in disgust and turned to leave.
Though she was being treated with disdain, Lan Qingyou didn't care.
She closed her eyes again, quietly waiting for death to arrive.
【Following consultations between the world will of Planet Karim and the world will of Blue Star, humans on Blue Star between the ages of 18 and 55 will be forcibly teleported to the Karim Continent to expand its population and alleviate the burden on Blue Star.】
“What the hell!? What's going on!?”
Suddenly, an emotionless mechanical voice and the voice of that short scarred man rang in Lan Qingyou's ears.
Then, she felt her whole body go light before falling onto something soft.
A fresh, elegant fragrance unique to wood wafted into her nose.
Lan Qingyou slowly opened her eyes.
The ceiling, which had been pitch black and invisible, was replaced by a warm yellow light, and the material had changed to solid wood.
Curious, she turned her head to look around.
The entire room was about twenty square meters, with a slightly rounded shape.
The walls, ceiling, and floor were all decorated with strange dark green patterns.
Beneath her was a ‘bed’ padded with straw, and beside the bed was a low table about fifty centimeters high.
On the wall above the low table hung a glowing vintage lantern.
Inside the lantern, tiny yellow motes of light swirled like stars.
Besides these, the room only had a circular glass window and a tightly closed door.
Is this the ‘Karim Continent’ that voice mentioned?
Aside from being brighter, it wasn't much different from the slum earlier. I should just stay still and wait for death.
Lan Qingyou looked around, gave her evaluation, and closed her eyes again.
After all, having gone three days without food or water, she didn't have the energy to think about other problems.

The mechanical voice fell silent.
Magic? Talent awakening!?
I can live!
If I can awaken some powerful talent, it might be possible for me to survive even if my legs are paralyzed!
After all, magic is a very mysterious thing.
What if it works?
Thinking of this, Lan Qingyou snapped her eyes open.
She then looked feverishly at the low table she hadn't paid much attention to earlier.
Oh, wait, it's the magic desk...
