Now that I've upgraded to Level 5, that's a total of five floors.
The top floor will be the bedroom, obviously. The fourth floor for the study and bathroom, and the third for the alchemy workshop and storage room.
As for the magic desk, I'll move that to the third floor too; after all, the alchemy workshop is where I spend the most time.
The remaining first and second floors will be used for herb fields. They require quite a lot of space, anyway.
Calculated based on the consistent double expansion, the first floor is definitely the largest, reaching 320 square meters. Combined with the 180 square meters on the second floor, the area should be more than enough.
Conveniently, the second floor has a terrace, so I can dry harvested herbs right there.
Farming!
And since I'm only growing rare herbs, this is plenty!
However, because I hadn't set up an herb field on the second floor before, I'll have to wait until next time to renovate it.
As for the Crystal Nest, that obviously goes on the first floor.
After all, I specifically used a construction slot for it to assist with things like pollination.
With her plan set, Lan Qingyou began to organize the facilities one by one.
【Confirm selection?】
【Yes】【No】
Once she finished and clicked confirm, the sound of clanging and banging echoed from within the surrounding white smoke.
Well, the construction crew was at it again.
This renovation seemed to take longer than the previous ones; it was about ten minutes before the white smoke gradually dissipated.
When the smoke cleared, Lan Qingyou found herself sitting in the middle of an unplanted herb field.
“...”
Lan Qingyou felt a bit speechless, yet it also seemed entirely logical.
After all, she had moved the magic desk to the third floor. Fortunately, the meditation cushion beneath her had moved with her, so she didn't end up covered in dirt.
Her pajamas, however, were not so lucky.
But when she looked up from the herb field beneath her, she was utterly shocked.
Wait, where on earth did they put me?
I'm in a tree hollow, right?
My shelter is supposed to be a tree hollow, right?
Then what's with all this stone?
Don't go changing my shelter's attributes without asking!
Seeing that both the walls and the ceiling were now made of masonry, Lan Qingyou screamed inwardly.
She had suspected something when the required materials shifted from wood and vines to stone and ore.
But seeing the reality before her eyes, she couldn't help but want to complain.
Even if the first floor had transformed from a pure wood style to a dungeon-esque one, the circular shape remained unchanged, which didn't stop her from grumbling.
Right then...
【Ding! Congratulations to the individual named 'Lan Qingyou' from District 666, Abandoned Forest, for being the first to upgrade to a Level 5 shelter. You have received one reward of your choice. Please keep up the good work.】
“Here she goes again.”
“Yep.”
“You'll get used to it.”
Many people had become numb to the world consciousness's announcements. To them, there was simply no comparison between themselves and someone like Lan Qingyou.
They weren't even playing the same game.
Yet, some still felt a sense of resentment.
“It's only been a few days, and she went from Level 4 to Level 5.”
“Where did Lan Qingyou get those mana crystals?”
“I have no clue. I want some mana crystals to upgrade too.”
“@Lan Qingyou, share the mana crystals! We'll even pay a premium!”
“Yeah, don't keep them all to yourself. Share the source with everyone.”
“Exactly. I'll look out for your business in the future. I'll tell you first when I find books.”
“F*ck! Say something! Are you ashamed?”
“Ignoring us?”
“You bitch, don't let me find out your shelter's coordinates, or I'll kill you!”
The transition from earnest persuasion to hysterical threats was seamless—one really had to marvel at the "vibrant" personalities in District 666.
Lan Qingyou, however, paid absolutely no attention to what they were saying in the chat channel.
She was busy choosing her reward.
After looking through the options for a while, she chose 《Basic Mana Conversion》, which allowed one to convert their own mana into various elemental manas.
Since she wanted to increase her combat power, her golems couldn't be without offensive capabilities.
A subject like this, which could convert mana into different elemental types, was a must-learn.
That way, even if she didn't know any attack spells herself, she could have the golems attack.
After selecting the book, Lan Qingyou looked up and noticed a colorful, ornate object hanging from the very center of the first-floor ceiling, resembling a crystal chandelier from a palace.
So this was the Crystal Nest.
If she couldn't fly, she probably would have struggled just to hang those butterfly pupae up there.
With that thought, Lan Qingyou floated up to the third-floor storage room, carried over the wooden box containing the elf butterfly pupae, and hung them along with the mana crystals.
It wasn't complicated; she didn't even need to worry about the damp environment mentioned in the books.
Being a specialized facility really made things convenient.
Once she was done, Lan Qingyou floated up to the fourth floor. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw that the fourth floor still maintained its pure wood style.
Living in a building made entirely of stone was just too depressing. How could it compare to a wooden tree hollow?
After taking another bath, Lan Qingyou changed into a fresh pair of pajamas.
Then she went to the third floor.
In fact, the mana tide had already begun by the time she stepped out of the bathroom.
So all she had to do now was sit quietly and wait.
Compared to the urgency she felt during the last mana tide, things were much more relaxed this time.
Especially since she didn't have to rush to brew potions, watching the frantic messages in the chat was actually quite refreshing.
Of course, thanks to the previous experience and a month of stockpiling, there wasn't a large-scale wave of deaths.
It was mostly just people scrambling for various supplies in the channel for one reason or another.
The most frequent word in these chats was undoubtedly "mana crystal."
This wasn't just in District 666; the world channel was the same.
Everyone wanted to upgrade their shelters from Level 3 to Level 4, which was understandable. After all, each level added another 10,000 energy points, providing an extra layer of security.
With nothing better to do, Lan Qingyou leaned over the magic desk to check the materials required for a Level 6 shelter.
【Tree Hollow Shelter (Level 6) Upgrade Requirements: iron ore 100,000, orichalcum 10,000, silver ore 10,000, gold ore 1,000, obsidian 100,000, mana crystal 1,000, Lapis Lazuli 1,000, Green Quartz 1,000, Red Hearthstone 1,000, C-grade monster core 100, C-grade monster blood * 100 liters】
“Tsk, still stone, and there are three types of stones I've never even heard of. But what's with the blood? It's becoming harder and harder to understand.”
Lan Qingyou scratched her head, then sent the upgrade requirements to Shang Chuan.
After seeing it, Shang Chuan said he would have people look for clues regarding Lapis Lazuli, Green Quartz, and Red Hearthstone.
In reality, anyone with experience or caution was still awake, waiting for potential crises.
That was why Shang Chuan had replied so quickly.
Lan Qingyou sat there until past 2:00 AM. Seeing that nothing unusual was happening, she got up to go to sleep.
Just then, a violent thud came from the second floor below.
It sounded like something had slammed hard into the glass.
