Chapter 118 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

“Li Huai, Vivian Nadasdy Bathory, Chu Yuan, David Angel, Ruan Qingyi, Meng Ju, Olf... Most of them are familiar names.”

“Alisa von Aurelius, Aristode, Jenna Maleeva, Tony Doni, Hells Mo...”

“Oh, there I am. Lan Qingyou, right at the bottom. Why am I ranked lower than Hells, who does nothing but wander around all day?”

Thump!

Lan Qingyou slammed her fist onto the desk.

Since she was equipped with the Moonstone Dagger, she was inherently weak in strength, so...

Magic desk: HP -1

Lan Qingyou couldn't quite figure out what contribution Hells Mo, who spent his days wandering about, had made. Surely it wasn't just mapmaking?

Or perhaps recruiting for Tarot Villa?

If she thought about it from the perspective of the 'world' as a whole, the establishment of an organization like Tarot Villa itself probably had a positive impact on all of Kalim.

After all, most of the people in the villa were S-grade individuals.

Even those like Esmeralda, Nemo, and Jiang Lan, while not in the S-grade, were in the A-grade and held titles.

They could be considered part of the top tier.

However, Lan Qingyou wasn't sure of the specifics; it was mostly just a guess.

Forget it, there was no point in thinking about those things now. She needed to focus on herself.

After confirming she was still S-grade, Lan Qingyou happily opened the menu and began selecting her rewards.

The rewards were still C-grade this time, but unlike before, she already had a clear goal in mind, so she didn't spend much time choosing.

Her finger swiped across the screen, and in a moment, she had selected her spell.

【Psychokinesis (C)】

【Effect: Consumes 100 mana points to control objects lighter than your own weight.】

【Description: Actually, you can call it telekinesis; the meaning is more or less the same.】

Lan Qingyou was very satisfied after reading the description.

Although it didn't seem particularly powerful and had a weight limit, that wasn't an issue for her at all.

What she wanted was this kind of remote control ability.

After all, it was impossible for her to personally charge forward with a blade to hack at people.

Wouldn't it be much better to control things directly with her mind?

Furthermore, she had already begun studying golemcraft, so creating one was only a matter of time. Lan Qingyou was very confident in that regard.

Since the attacking could be left to the golems, her job was to provide support.

She could make the enemy trip up at a critical moment, creating an opening for her golems to attack and minimizing her own losses.

After obtaining the magic skill, Lan Qingyou turned her attention to the tools.

While she hadn't fully decided on what she needed, she had a few ideas. It just depended on whether the item she wanted was available.

Resting her chin on her palm, Lan Qingyou scrolled slowly this time.

She needed to check each one and click into the ones that seemed suitable.

“Aha! This is the one!”

About three minutes later, Lan Qingyou's eyes lit up. She withdrew a crystal pen from the reward pool, its barrel filled with speckled colors.

【Colored Crystal Pen (C)】

【Effect: Increases success rate of symbol drawing and magic circuit scribing by 30%.】

【Description: Its interior is decorated with elemental bodies symbolizing the four elements of magic, which greatly increases the success rate when drawing magic patterns.】

“Haha! I knew something like this had to exist!”

Lan Qingyou laughed, spinning the crystal pen between her fingers with practiced ease.

When she had tried drawing magic patterns before, she had felt some confusion. Since she had a small herb hoe for gathering herbs, there ought to be similar tools for a major discipline like scribing.

So, she had specifically searched for one among the rewards this time.

She hadn't expected to actually find it.

Delighted, Lan Qingyou spun the crystal pen again, then took out a wooden board and began sketching on it.

And it really was true.

Having the right tool made it a completely different experience.

Previously, she could only gather mana at her fingertips to draw, but with the crystal pen, the mana flowed exceptionally smoothly onto the wood.

Perhaps because the nib was small and firm, the lines it drew were much finer than those made by her finger.

Compared to the lines drawn by her finger, these were about a tenth as thick.

This was a massive improvement.

Of course.

There was still a long way to go to reach the hair-thin delicacy of the magic patterns on the shelter.

But regardless, the wooden board didn't shatter after Lan Qingyou finished drawing a symbol. That alone was enough to prove its worth.

“With this pen, my next steps will be much easier to carry out.”

After testing it, Lan Qingyou held the crystal pen up to the window, looking at the slowly shifting colors inside the barrel.

Cartography was a deep field of study, an immense one.

Setting aside complex symbols and patterns, even a simple circle would take Lan Qingyou a long time to master.

After all, every symbol was composed of lines.

Some patterns—like the ones on the shelter, for instance—were drawn in a single stroke, with different patterns then linked together by other lines.

It almost seemed beyond human capability.

Therefore, the finer the lines, the more patterns could be drawn within the same area.

With the crystal pen, Lan Qingyou was certain she could create a magic shield.

Now that she had a writing tool, the only thing left was the materials.

Wood definitely wouldn't work. Since she intended to travel all over the Abandoned Land and her skills were still lacking, such materials wouldn't be able to protect her.

Perhaps, like Hells, making herself a new shelter out of a giant stone was a good option.

Hmm?

Thinking about it, wouldn't it be even better to just have Chariot smelt a ten-meter iron cube for her?

It would be sturdier than stone, and she would be even more adept at drawing on iron plates.

At this thought, Lan Qingyou's eyes brightened. She immediately pulled out her card to contact Chariot.

The Tower: “@Chariot, help me make a ten-meter iron cube.”

Chariot: “What do you want that for?”

Chariot asked, sounding a bit speechless.

Since it was already evening, Chariot replied quickly.

The Tower: “The Fool is carrying his shelter around everywhere, so I want to try making a shelter with a magic shield for myself.”

Chariot: “I see. That’s quite a magical idea. I’ll start making it for you tomorrow. For something with so little technical skill required, I should be able to finish it in a single morning as long as the materials are sufficient.”
