Chapter 157 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

Lan Qingyou floated lightly over to the side of the bed and spread-eagled herself across it, staring up at the tent's ceiling as she began to think.

The Kalim script and the Federation common script of her home, the Dragon Country, were worlds apart.

The fact that two languages from completely different linguistic families could be swapped and still achieve the same effect was a topic deep enough for any scholar to spend a lifetime investigating.

Unable to figure it out, Lan Qingyou posted her doubts to the group.

Perhaps because it was just past 11:00 AM—the busiest part of the morning wind-down—no one replied for several minutes after she sent the message.

It wasn't until Nemo the fisherman spoke up that people gradually began to appear in the group.

Hierophant: "This is indeed a very interesting topic. Although I haven't researched instructions or enchanting, I have studied semiotics and magic circuits quite a bit. Personally, I wonder if the font or script itself isn't actually that important?"

Perhaps because he hadn't caught any fish today and had packed up early, the Hierophant sat on his small boat and took out his card, intending to ask Gu Xiaobei for some food.

Instead, he saw Lan Qingyou's message, thought about it for a moment, and sent his reply.

Magician: "It is an interesting topic. Different writing systems achieving the same results."

High Priestess: "I disagree with the Hierophant's guess. Since the course 《Basic Magic Instruction Science》 exists in this world, it proves that the script is vital to magic instructions."

The Star: "True. After reading that book, I also feel that the script is very important for magic instructions, but that doesn't explain what's happening on The Tower's end."

The discussion reached a stalemate.

No one knew how to explain this phenomenon.

In fact...

They didn't even have a lead, let alone an explanation.

The two guesses were simply too far apart.

Wheel of Fortune: "Do you think there's a possibility it's related to that paper The Tower published earlier?"

The Tower: "Hmm?"

Wheel of Fortune: "[《On the Necessary Correlation Between Heart's Image and Talent》]"

Magician: "What do you mean?"

Wheel of Fortune: "Didn't the paper propose the idealistic concept of 'what the heart desires'?"

Wheel of Fortune: "What if the script is important, but what truly matters is that while you're injecting mana to write the characters, you're also injecting the concept of what you're thinking? If that's the case, wouldn't the conflict disappear entirely?"

Wheel of Fortune: "Otherwise, why would this discipline even exist? Isn't it just to let us know the specific meanings contained within those Kalim script characters and instructions?"

Ssss—

Esmeralda's guess made Lan Qingyou gasp.

As the author of that paper, she naturally knew what the concept of 'what the heart desires' meant.

This was a concept equivalent to the 'Power of I Reckon.'

But wait! She might actually be onto something!

With Esmeralda's reminder, Lan Qingyou truly felt it was possible.

After all, writing was just another form of symbolism.

It was the user who bestowed power upon these characters.

For example, some people had talents for Words of Power or drawing talismans—wasn't that just a manifestation of the power of writing?

If so, then injecting one's thoughts while writing and infusing mana must be a crucial step.

Especially with Dragon Country characters, which were ideographic and carried inherent meaning; every time she wrote them, she would subconsciously think of the associated concepts.

For instance, with more concrete characters like 'run' or 'jump,' writing them would immediately bring the actions of running and jumping to mind. Naturally, the intent in her heart was materialized and etched into the characters, forming an instruction.

Just as Wheel of Fortune said, it was a very idealistic matter.

But then again, were idealistic occurrences rare in this magic world?

Even things like monster deaths directly forming ore veins could happen. What else was impossible?

She could only say that she still hadn't completely cast off her fixed mindsets and stereotypes.

Tapping her forehead, Lan Qingyou gave a bitter smile, and then all sorts of instruction writing methods flooded her mind.

The Tower: "I'll give it a try."

Wheel of Fortune: "Let us know the result of this hypothesis later."

The Tower: "Okay."

With that, Lan Qingyou wrote down everything she could think of.

She wrote, she thought, she recorded, and she tested.

She tested every single word-based instruction she wrote; her process was incredibly meticulous.

Once she had filled the interiors of the entire squad of purple knights and Horned Lions with various instructions, Lan Qingyou led the team out of the tent.

The wind and snow were heavy outside, but they couldn't stop Lan Qingyou's burning desire to experiment.

"Ji!"

"Zhi zhi!"

Seeing Lan Qingyou fly out of the tent, the two little guys followed her.

However, seeing that Lan Qingyou was only active right in front of the tent, they simply poked their heads out from the entrance to watch the situation outside.

The gesture was cute, but did these two little beasts have no intention of sharing her hardships?

Looking at the two little guys' performance, Lan Qingyou even felt like dragging them out to make them stand at attention in the blizzard.

Let them enjoy it too.

But the experiment was more important right now, so Lan Qingyou suppressed that urge.

Controlling golems was actually less complicated than she had imagined.

It didn't require anything mystical, nor did it require pulling strings like a marionette.

Because those instructions were written with her own mana, she only needed to think in her mind and then issue the command.

Of course, there was a range limit.

Generally, the controllable range was about a thirty-meter radius, which was plenty.

If she added Soul Crystals, Lan Qingyou could guarantee that control would extend to a fifty-meter radius.

But this time was different.

Inspired by Esmeralda's earlier words, Lan Qingyou directly gave this pair of golems an 'Automatic Cruise' instruction.

This was an incredibly convenient and labor-saving command.

It was essentially the equivalent of a skill macro.

Anyone who had played games knew that a macro was a combination of multiple actions and skills. One only needed to press that single key to make the game character perform a series of desired movements.

'Open spiral lance,' 'charge,' 'thrust,' 'retract lance'—such a sequence of actions could be completed with just one command combined with Automatic Cruise.

Lan Qingyou felt there was no better way to play this.

That was right.

Playing.

The mindset Lan Qingyou held while she was inscribing was that she was playing.

Although these things were meant for self-preservation and increasing her combat power, it was undeniable that without an optimistic, playful heart, it would have been impossible to come up with so many interesting ideas.
