Based on her current mana, her maximum flight time was one hour and twenty minutes.
To play it safe, it was best to return after only an hour.
Although her talent was called flight, Lan Qingyou felt the state was more like moving in a zero-gravity environment, like being in outer space.
Without leverage or propulsion, she would just hang in the air, waiting for the wind to blow her along.
This was something she had to keep in mind; she needed to be cautious when flying in places with little to no leverage.
Then there was the final point.
She must never let anyone see her flying.
It wasn't about keeping her abilities a secret—being able to fly was a skill, and since everyone was currently restricted to daytime activities, keeping it a total secret was impossible.
The fundamental reason she didn't want to be seen was her legs.
Because she had no control over them, her flight posture for a while after takeoff was shaped like a '7', with her legs dangling limply.
While it wouldn't be the end of the world if someone saw her, at most it would be a piece of dark history for people to gossip about.
But social death was still social death.
A person could die, but they could not suffer social death. It was a matter of principle.
“So good!”
Once the sweetie self-heating hotpot was ready, Lan Qingyou, who hadn't eaten in days, quickly fished out a potato slice and stuffed it into her mouth.
The way the aroma of beef tallow and chili exploded in her mouth made her gasp in admiration.
Ever since her car accident five years ago, she had been eating nothing but hospital meals.
She hadn't tasted anything this spicy in a long time, so she began to wolf it down.
As she ate, she checked the chat messages in the Regional Channel.
“What are your basic skills? Mine is Collection Technique, and it costs 20 mana per use, but I only have 50 mana total.”
“How do you know it costs 20 mana?”
“I just snuck out and tried it once right by the door.”
“Impressive!”
“Giving a thumbs up to the brave soul.”
“I have Collection Technique too.”
“Same here.”
“It looks like everyone’s Basic Magic is the same. Too bad I only have 30 mana; I have to rest after using it just once.”
“That’s not bad, sister, really. I’m even worse off. I only have 1 spirit and 10 mana. Based on what you said about it costing 20 mana, I’m afraid I’ll never get the chance to use magic.”
“Brother, isn’t your spirit a bit too low?”
“Can’t help it. Maybe I’m just naturally not suited to be a mage.”
“Then how are you going to collect resources?”
“My original profession was a logger, so I chose the axe. I’ll just stick to my old trade tomorrow.”
“Brother, I chose the pickaxe. Do you want to swap tools tomorrow?”
“What a coincidence! Come on, add me as a friend, let’s talk details.”
Looking at the chat, Lan Qingyou nearly choked.
Good grief, she thought her stats were mediocre, but it turned out there were even 'greater experts' out there.
But what that person said was true—spirit didn't necessarily represent intelligence.
Highly intelligent people weren't always strong in spirit.
But 20 mana... that meant that even at full capacity, she could only use it four times before she had to sit and wait for her mana to recover?
Wait, no. She had to reserve enough mana for flight.
That meant three times.
“By the way, what resources do you guys need to upgrade your shelters? Why do I need 3,100 units of vines and ten E-grade magic creature cores? Is this reasonable?”
“It’s reasonable. It probably depends on where you live. My shelter is in a cave, and I need 3,000 stone and 100 wood.”
“Wouldn’t it be better if it were just one type? I don’t just need vines and stone; I also need wood and soil.”
Seeing them discuss this reminded Lan Qingyou about the shelter upgrades.
She quickly checked the requirements for her tree hole.
【Tree Hole Shelter (Level 2) Upgrade Requirements: wood 2500, stone 100, vines 500, E-grade magic creature core 10】
It seemed that different shelters required different materials. She just didn't know if these materials were easy to obtain.
Looking at her Collection Technique, Lan Qingyou fell into silence.
According to the world will, the higher the shelter's level, the stronger the magic shield's protection.
But this also indirectly suggested that things would become very dangerous in the future.
Whatever.
What will be, will be. She would worry about the future when it came.
Since her stomach was full, her blood was now focused on digestion.
This allowed her brain, which had been tense for days, to finally relax.
Since things had come to this, she might as well sleep.
Although the 'bed' was just a pile of straw, for Lan Qingyou, it was better than the wooden board she had before; at least it didn't dig into her back.
But speaking of which...
Did I forget something?
Lan Qingyou thought groggily as she lay on the straw.
...
Sleep is always a relaxing thing.
Especially for someone like Lan Qingyou, who hadn't slept well for days.
When she opened her eyes the next day, sunlight was already streaming through the glass window onto her bed.
Though she didn't know the exact time, Lan Qingyou briskly cast Body Lightening Technique on herself.
Gulp, gulp, gulp—
After taking a few sips of cold mineral water, the newly awakened Lan Qingyou couldn't help but shiver.
She then locked the screens for the World Channel and Regional Channel and picked up the ham sausage she had intentionally left on the desk last night before flying out of the room.
It was only then that she clearly saw what kind of place she was in.
This was a forest, surrounded by towering, ancient trees.
Sunlight filtered through the lush leaves, making the small stream below sparkle. The entire forest looked breathtakingly beautiful and full of fantasy.
The tree where her shelter was located had a diameter of at least a hundred meters.
Compared to this massive tree, the small door of her Tree Hole Shelter looked like a sesame seed stuck to a watermelon—completely inconspicuous.
But this was good. At least during the day, even if someone saw the tree, they probably wouldn't think there was a shelter up here.
It felt like a 'secret base,' which made her feel a little excited.
But since it was a shelter in a tree, why were there no stairs or anything?
Her front door was at least twenty or thirty meters above the ground. If she didn't have the Body Lightening Technique, she probably would have had trouble even getting down.
Confused, Lan Qingyou circled the trunk and discovered that it seemed possible to go up and down using the vines covering the tree.
She decided to clear these vines away so she could feel more at ease.
Even though she knew no one could enter the shelter.
With that thought, Lan Qingyou used the Collection Technique on the vines.
With a sharp snap, a portion of the vines collapsed and fell straight to the ground.
Well, this survival game was quite hardcore—no items were automatically collected or stored.
Clinging to the vines as she climbed down, Lan Qingyou gathered the fallen vines and returned to her room.
After selecting the option to open the store on the Regional Exchange, she placed the vines on the small screen.
The vines vanished instantly.
