Chapter 43 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

As they say, once the debt is gone, the heart is light.

For the next few days, Lan Qingyou spent her time continuously brewing potions.

Mana potions, healing potions, attribute potions, and light potions.

In short, Lan Qingyou wanted to clear all her external debts as soon as possible.

It wasn't until the fifth day, when Li Huai's injuries had fully healed, that Lan Qingyou finally paid off every last debt.

Although brewing potions was a basic skill for an alchemist, even she couldn't stand doing it every single day.

Lan Qingyou wanted to take a good rest.

However, she still had her herb bag and dagger to 'feed,' so brewing potions every day remained a necessity.

Still, finding a moment of peace to pet Steel Wool was a wonderful treat.

But one matter continued to linger in the hearts of Lan Qingyou and all the other survivors.

At the beginning, they had gone through a seven-day newbie protection period, followed by another seven-day period of magic turbulence.

Then came the appearance of a massive number of magic creatures and the bloody slaughter that followed.

Even though everyone was incredibly busy, no one had forgotten the pattern of the seven-day cycle.

While it wasn't certain if this pattern was correct, everyone was actively preparing for what might happen next.

Food, water, firewood—things like that.

Although Lan Qingyou's light potions could provide them with a week of illumination...

Lan Qingyou was too lazy to make many, and the majority of them were in Shang Chuan's hands, where the prices were being driven through the roof.

And even if Lan Qingyou wasn't lazy, she alone couldn't supply the needs of several thousand people.

So firewood, or more accurately wood, became a core necessity for many.

Lan Qingyou even saw miners selling coal on the exchange.

However, when the week passed, aside from the occasional roar of a magic creature in the night, the only thing that happened was the occasional creature coming to 'scratch an itch' at a shelter's door.

“Damn, here we go again.”

“What species is it this time?”

“A Copper-bell Cat.”

“Ugh, that thing. It really freaked me out the first time I saw it.”

“Tell me about it. Those eyes as big as copper bells glowing in the dark... it's enough to make your skin crawl.”

“Hahaha, go on then! It's a great opportunity. Go out and take it down; it's at least an E-grade magic creature core.”

“I feel like there are two or three of them wandering around out there. Why don't you go?”

“Forget it, I don't want to mess with those vengeful bastards.”

“Hahaha!”

Lan Qingyou always felt that the chat logs of the Regional Channel and the World Channel had two completely different vibes. Perhaps it was because most people in District 666 were criminals, or maybe they had just grown accustomed to it.

Even after more than half a month, many people on the World Channel were still unable to adapt to life in this magic-filled different world.

But the gang in District 666 even treated the magic creatures attacking their shelters' magic shields at night as a topic for casual conversation.

It made sense, though.

They were a bunch of vicious thugs to begin with; of course their adaptability would be high.

After more than half a month, those who couldn't adapt were basically dead.

And those who did adapt had gathered together in a way Lan Qingyou could hardly imagine.

For example, Giant Mickey.

“So you're saying you still haven't found Lan Qingyou's whereabouts?”

Mickey sat behind a genuine leather desk, looking at the man standing across from him.

At this moment, his shelter had reached level 3 after two upgrades, and its area had expanded considerably to about 180 square meters.

Thanks to the efforts of his lackeys, his 'office' was now not only starting to take shape, but it was even filled with quite a bit of furniture.

That was where the desk and chair in front of him had come from.

“Godfather, we've done our best. According to information from our informant near Shang Chuan, Lan Qingyou rarely goes out. Even the water she uses for brewing potions is bought from Shang Chuan. Furthermore, Machine Gun Jacksey's men have been sniping our people. We've already lost four.”

“Enough! Manel! I didn't bring you here to listen to excuses! A plan! I need you to come up with an effective plan!”

A fierce glint appeared in Giant Mickey's eyes, making him look absolutely infuriated.

However, in the next second, after letting out a long breath, the angry expression on his face vanished completely.

“Set the matter of Lan Qingyou aside for now. There's no magic turbulence this week. First, kill that son of a bitch Jacksey. We'll deal with the rest after we remove our greatest threat.”

“I understand, Godfather.”

With those words from Mickey, Manel felt a lot more relieved.

He turned around and went to gather men to deal with Jacksey.

After all, compared to someone like Lan Qingyou, who stayed indoors and hid away to brew medicine in some unknown location, those West Coast monkeys under Jacksey were much easier to find.

In any case, he would finish the job with Jacksey perfectly first.

In truth, if he could, Manel didn't want to work for a boss like Mickey.

Everyone had been forcibly transported to this different world, and everything had essentially been reset. So why did he still get to boss them around?

However, despite the resentment in his heart, Manel and the others under Mickey could not resist him.

There was no other reason than the fact that they had all been brought here by Mickey's talent.

Originally, they had been struggling in different districts.

Then, after a couple of days, they would wake up to find their shelters had been pulled from other districts into District 666.

Furthermore, their shelters had been forcefully seized by Mickey's talent.

They could choose not to work for Mickey, but that also meant they would lose their shelters.

In a dangerous world like this, staying outside for a single night was enough to kill them three times over. So, if they didn't want to die, they could only grit their teeth and stay on Mickey's boat.

No one knew how Mickey did it, as talent was everyone's greatest trump card.

But one thing was certain: Mickey held their lives in his hands.

Because he had so many people, Mickey's shelter could upgrade rapidly under concentrated resources, providing them with protection.

Meanwhile, other shelters that hadn't upgraded had already been overturned during the magic turbulence last week.

Watching Manel's departing back, Mickey gave a cold snort.

That damned cotton-picker Machine Gun Jacksey. If he hadn't been leading men to mess with him behind his back, he might have already found Shang Chuan through that informant and thus found Lan Qingyou.

There was nothing he could do; he had been blacklisted. Along with him, many others who had taken his favors to squeeze Lan Qingyou had also been blacklisted.
