Chapter 65 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

Just then, Gu Xiaobei sent over some food.

Gu Xiaobei: "Big boss, go ahead and eat. I still have things to take care of here."

Lan Qingyou: "Sounds like you're really busy."

Despite appearances, Gu Xiaobei might actually be busier than her every day.

After all, Lan Qingyou produced hundreds of potions in a single batch, whereas Gu Xiaobei could only make a dozen or so portions of food at most.

It was a limitation of her tools and the capacity of her stove; there was no helping it.

However, Gu Xiaobei seemed to be enjoying herself.

Especially today, a rare day of rest, she was working like a whirlwind.

Everyone was a survivor of a catastrophe, so who wouldn't want to treat themselves to a good meal?

Gu Xiaobei: "Hehe, I actually got a title too."

Lan Qingyou: "Oh?"

Gu Xiaobei: "Just now, the world consciousness said my food contributed to Kalim, so it gave me a title."

Lan Qingyou: "That’s pretty good."

Gu Xiaobei’s answer caught Lan Qingyou a bit by surprise, but what title others had wasn't really her business.

She respected boundaries; if it wasn't her place to ask, she wouldn't.

So, after a brief exchange with Gu Xiaobei, she turned her attention to the magic list, eating her grilled skewers and mushroom soup while she browsed.

Explosion, Mana Extension, Eagle Eye, Gale Fist, Call Lightning, Snake Bowl, Martial Realm, Mist Summoning, Air Vibration, Moonshatter Step, Wave Swap...

The sheer number of spells—thousands of them—nearly made Lan Qingyou’s head spin.

While these spells seemed strange and varied, they generally fell into a few major categories: attack, support, summoning, and so on.

But none of these were what Lan Qingyou wanted.

Currently, she had no skills other than her Harvesting (E).

To be honest, even when she had gone out acting like a bomber, she hadn't managed to kill a single monster.

Consequently, a month after 'joining the server,' her level was still 1.

So now, she felt a slight urge to level up.

An alchemist shall dedicate everything to alchemy—Lan Qingyou certainly remembered that line.

But remembering it didn't mean she had to follow it blindly.

In her eyes, Albert was someone from who-knows-how-many years ago. While his theories were excellent and could easily get a layman into the profession, the most important thing was to adapt to the situation.

Lan Qingyou might call herself Albert’s student, but that didn't mean she would accept his philosophy in its entirety.

Especially when it came to survival.

Of course, if there was something that could both strengthen her and be related to alchemy, she naturally wouldn't mind.

Furthermore, her talent had been upgraded.

It might not have been obvious before.

But now, if she wanted to maintain her own flight while also supporting the weight of other objects, her mana could only sustain both for a maximum of three hours.

That was fine for daily work, but in a dangerous situation, three hours might not be enough.

Therefore, she needed some skills to bolster her combat capabilities.

“Hmm? This one looks quite good.”

As Lan Qingyou scrolled idly through the panel, she suddenly spotted a skill called ‘Soul Siphon.’

It sounded like an evil skill, and in practice, it truly was.

【Soul Siphon (C)】

【Effect: Consumes 100 mana to deal 100 health damage to an enemy. Has a chance to restore 50 mana and a chance to obtain a Soul Crystal.】

【Description: An intermediate Destruction spell. It brings destruction along with agony to the enemy.】

She knew all about these ‘Soul Crystals.’

They were a staple in both Albert’s manual and the study of alchemy, much like monster cores.

In alchemy specifically, Soul Crystals were mentioned even more frequently than monster cores.

Previously, she had assumed they were drops from high-tier monsters, similar to monster cores.

After all, they appeared so often in the texts that she couldn't help but think so.

But now she knew—they were obtained through magical attacks.

In a sense, they were still a monster byproduct, weren't they?

To be honest, she felt that if she’d had a Soul Crystal from a volcanic worm when she was researching the talent ascension potion, it might have been much easier.

“Pretty good. It restores mana, deals damage, and yields Soul Crystals as alchemy materials.”

After a moment’s thought, Lan Qingyou stopped looking further and chose this skill.

Since it was a skill that could provide her with alchemy materials, picking it was definitely a win.

After selecting her magic, Lan Qingyou breathed a sigh of relief and turned her attention to the C-rank tools.

They were similar to before.

Sabers, spears, swords, halberds, axes, battle-axes, hooks, forks, little hoes... in short, a massive selection.

Lan Qingyou once again fell into the abyss of indecision.

To be honest.

C-rank tools were much better than the previous E-rank ones.

Besides significantly higher damage values, they also provided attribute bonuses, and some weapons even came with special traits.

For instance, the Blazing Staff (C) had a trait that boosted fire element attacks.

Or this short blade called the Wind Blade (C), which also boosted fire element attacks.

There were also swords with traits like enhanced sharpness—traits that weren't quantified by numbers.

Of course, not all tools had these traits.

Only a portion of them did.

Just as Lan Qingyou’s Moonstone Dagger had no extra traits.

However, Lan Qingyou didn't pay much attention to weapons.

Although she lingered briefly on bows and crossbows, she ultimately didn't choose them.

Since she was always attacking from high ground, it didn't really matter how she attacked; she didn't need those things.

Moreover, her concern wasn't about using these weapons herself, but rather being careful that others didn't use them against her.

So, she decided to stick with a utility tool to act as a support.

The best option would naturally be something related to alchemy.

But how could items like those that had escaped from Albert’s basement be so easy to find?

After searching for a long time, Lan Qingyou couldn't find anything she liked.

Even a C-rank little hoe wasn't actually much better than her E-rank one.

It mainly just added sharpness.

Why would a little hoe need sharpness? Was it for digging out zombie brains?

“Sigh... is there really nothing worth taking?”

Muttering to herself, Lan Qingyou eventually looked at her own legs, adjusted her posture to get comfortable, and continued browsing with her cheek propped in her hand.
