“So, Allie... when did you master the embryonic form of a Domain?”
Even though Greg's level had increased to LV41, he still didn't dare to speak too loudly.
After all, the person in front of him was a battle maid thirty levels higher than him who also mastered a Domain, the symbol of the absolute top-tier powerhouses.
He quickly made a mental calculation—even if he played all his cards, he might only last six seconds in front of her. And five of those seconds would rely on dragging things out with his LV5 skill, 'Whimpering'.
Allie sheathed her longsword, her tone nonchalant.
“Not too long ago, I suppose. Right after I broke through to LV70, it just suddenly came to me.”
Nightmare's voice echoed faintly in Greg's mind, carrying a hint of admiration. “Unlike you, she is a good girl.”
“...”
Greg fell silent.
I'm not in a hurry. I have a cheat anyway, so I'm completely—this is fucking ridiculous!
Greg felt like he was about to boil over.
His magical talent was a complete mess. When other students were gaining enlightenment in class, he was forced to let his mind wander.
But Allie was even more ridiculous. She had somehow gained enlightenment while letting her mind wander.
This extreme contrast made even Greg, who was on her side, feel his Dao Heart cracking.
He took a deep breath and muttered in his heart:
Calm down, calm down. This silly maid traded all her IQ for her talent, so there's no need to be jealous.
After repeating this to himself a few times, Greg finally managed to force his state of mind back to normal.
“Speaking of which...”
Greg changed the subject, his tone carrying a hint of probing.
“Since you can use the embryonic form of a Domain, why didn't you just use it from the start? Why did you wait until the very end to bring it out?”
Allie turned her head, a sweet smile appearing on her face.
“Because I originally planned to save this move to give Young Master Greg a surprise when the time was right.”
“...”
Greg swallowed hard.
Although he didn't know exactly what Allie meant by "when the time was right," he had a feeling that what he would feel at that moment would definitely not be a surprise, but a heart attack.
Thinking about it this way, he was actually a bit glad that this boss's mechanics had forced Allie to play this trump card early.
“Ahem.”
Greg cleared his throat.
“Let's rest here for a bit. We'll head out once we've recovered our strength.”
Although Allie had already slain two bosses in a row, he had not forgotten that fully conquering the third layer was the ultimate goal of their trip.
Greg found a relatively clean spot on the ground. Just as he sat down, Allie suddenly walked over to him. She stood there, looking down at him with an expectant, meaningful gaze.
Greg looked up, asking in confusion, “Is something wrong?”
Allie crossed her arms, her tone carrying a matter-of-fact air.
“Don't act dumb, you silly master. When you were resting earlier, I gave you a lap pillow. So now, I want my reward.”
Greg froze for a moment. “Does a maid really need to be rewarded for serving her master—”
Halfway through his sentence, he looked at the expression on Allie's face and decisively gave up resisting. Shaking his head, he said:
“Never mind... When did you give me a lap pillow? I have absolutely no memory of it.”
Allie said, “It was when you were unconscious earlier. You slept for twelve hours, and I let you rest on my lap for eleven of them.”
Nightmare's voice chimed in right on cue. “I can vouch for this.”
Greg: “Wait, who is your other half here? Why do you always take her side?”
Nightmare: “You, scumbag. Her, good girl. Do I even need to choose?”
“Tsk.”
Although Nightmare's words were unpleasant to hear, they at least proved that Allie was telling the truth.
Now, Greg felt like he had lost out even more.
Because when he regained consciousness, he was already lying on the hard ground, completely missing out on the comfort of the lap pillow.
He had lost eleven hours of pure bliss for nothing.
Greg finally sighed. “Alright, how do you want me to repay you?”
Allie didn't speak. She just reached out and pointed at his thigh.
Greg understood what she meant.
He sat down against the wall, stretched his legs out, and patted his thigh.
Allie lay down without any hesitation, resting her head on his thigh. She even adjusted her position to find the most comfortable angle.
She closed her eyes and let out a satisfied sigh, like a cat that had finally found a sunny spot to nap.
Greg looked down at her, a strange feeling welling up in his heart.
Allie was usually so sharp-tongued and overbearing, but right now, lying on his lap, she looked just like an ordinary girl.
However, this warm atmosphere did not last long.
Allie shifted slightly, then knit her brows and complained in a puzzled tone:
“Why is it a bit hard in the middle? It feels kind of uncomfortable.”
Greg replied with a straight face, “All guys are like that.”
“Oh.”
Allie closed her eyes again and quietly lay back down.
After a while, Greg felt Allie's breathing become steady and deep.
Since Allie had been taking care of him the entire time he was unconscious, it was only natural for her to be exhausted now.
Greg looked down at her peaceful sleeping face, suddenly thinking that staying in the dungeon like this forever might not be such a bad thing.
But he quickly shook his head, tossing the unrealistic thought out of his mind.
Vivian was still waiting for them, so they couldn't stop here.
A few hours later, Greg gently patted Allie's shoulder.
“Wake up, it's time to go.”
Allie opened her eyes, a trace of sleepiness lingering in them, but she quickly regained her clarity.
She sat up, stretched, and loosened her muscles. “Mm.”
The two packed up their gear and continued deeper into the dungeon along the passage that had been revealed behind the hall due to the ruined environment.
The passage was narrow and deep, the walls covered in cracks, and the path beneath their feet was uneven. Occasionally, they could see scattered rubble and broken bones.
But before entering the passage, Greg suddenly paused.
He squatted down and carefully examined the edges of the passage entrance. There were some strange marks, as if something had squeezed through here by force.
He recalled that when they had entered the second layer from the first, there seemed to have been similar marks at that passage entrance as well. He just hadn't thought much of it at the time because he had been too anxious to find Allie.
He frowned, lost in thought.
Could some monster have run up from below in this dungeon before?
But neither he nor Allie had run into anything along the way, and the marks looked like they had been there for a while...
So whatever had run up from below was probably already dead, right?
