“Are you feeling a little better now?”
In the passage, Greg continued to help Vivian down the stairs, most of her weight now leaning on him, her steps unsteady, like a fawn learning to walk.
Just a moment ago, when Greg was halfway through the kiss, Vivian's knees suddenly gave out, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.
Greg initially thought she was rejecting him, but when he saw the same bewildered expression on Vivian’s face, he understood—it seemed Vivian truly had no knowledge whatsoever in this area.
But thinking about it, it made sense.
Vivian had always dedicated her time to mastering magic and training, showing little interest in anything else.
Her life path was a straight line: cultivate, study, grow stronger, then cultivate, study, and grow stronger again.
That's why, right now, she had no idea why her body felt so weak.
Honestly, Vivian's current appearance was a stark contrast to her usual self, and Greg quite liked it.
The ice princess, who always wore a cold and indifferent expression, now leaned on him like an exhausted kitten, her cheeks flushed, her breathing slightly erratic, exuding a unique charm.
If it wasn't their first time, and Greg wanted to give Vivian the best possible experience, he wouldn't have stopped; he would have kept pursuing and ravishing her.
“Mm… I seem to have regained a little strength now.”
Vivian replied softly.
Though she didn't know why her lower body had suddenly gone weak, she surprisingly felt no fear, only a contented joy.
She even thought to herself that it would have been nice if she could have held on a little longer.
Because she had clearly felt Greg's desire for her, and that feeling of being needed made her very comfortable.
“Oh… mm, that’s good then!”
Greg forced himself to turn his head, avoiding Vivian’s soft, pink lips, fearing he might suddenly lose control again.
It was Greg's first time experiencing such a unique kiss.
He wasn't sure if it was due to Vivian's ice-attribute magic, but her mouth wasn't warm like most people's; instead, it was cool and refreshing, making Greg feel as if he were eating ice cream.
Several times midway through, Greg couldn't resist drawing that sweet 'ice cream' into his mouth, greedily savoring the sweet liquid within.
Even now, a little calmer, just seeing her lips brought back the wonderful taste immediately.
This was entirely different from a certain Goddess who stuck out her tongue during a ritual, giving Greg a less-than-pleasant experience.
“Can you control the thoughts in your head? They’re practically drifting into mine.”
Nightmare’s voice echoed in Greg’s mind, carrying a hint of dissatisfaction.
Greg replied in his mind:
“What, jealous? I remember you once said you quite liked my face, didn’t you?”
Nightmare snorted coldly:
“Hehe, but I also said that I don’t care how you lust after these human women.”
“So that means you would care if I lusted after other deities?”
Greg seized the loophole in her words:
“If that’s the case, then why did you want me to do that to the Goddess of Light, Serafina?”
“Because—”
Nightmare’s words suddenly cut off. After a long silence, she slowly spoke:
“Though I cannot recall the exact reason, I can undoubtedly feel that I indeed harbor such an expectation.”
“No crucial information again, you hateful riddler!”
Greg complained, then ignored Nightmare.
The two continued down the stairs.
In the dim passage, only their footsteps and breathing could be heard, and a subtle atmosphere permeated the air.
Greg broke the silence, asking softly:
“Vivian, do you truly not regret this? You must know that by my side…”
“It’s alright.”
Vivian interrupted him. “I’ve already thought it through. As long as there’s a place for me by your side, I’m content.”
Greg’s heart warmed.
“You can actually be a little greedier, because your place in my heart is definitely more important than you imagine.”
Vivian looked up, a flicker of surprise and emotion in her ice-blue eyes.
She opened her mouth, intending to say something, but ultimately just rested her head on Greg’s shoulder and whispered almost inaudibly:
“...Mm, I’m very happy.”
After walking a little further, Vivian suddenly stopped and turned to Greg, her expression serious. “Also, I want to apologize to you.”
Greg paused. “Apologize? For what?”
“For leaving you back then.”
Vivian lowered her head, her voice tinged with self-reproach:
“At that time, I didn’t choose to understand you; I chose to leave. If I had stayed then, and faced those difficulties with you, perhaps many subsequent events wouldn’t have happened. So I’ve always owed you an apology—I’m sorry.”
So she had been bothered by that all this time.
Greg was silent for a moment, then gently shook his head.
“No, you weren’t wrong. I was the one who actively pushed you away.”
Greg paused, then revealed the reason he hadn’t spoken before:
“Perhaps you won’t believe it, but most members of the House of Sass have actually sided with the Demons. That’s why I deliberately sought an opportunity to leave the family a while ago.”
Hearing this, Vivian sharply looked up, her ice-blue eyes wide with shock.
The House of Sass, a noble family with significant influence in the Kingdom, had secretly sided with the Demons?
It was indeed hard to believe.
But because Greg was the one who said it, Vivian chose to believe him.
However, she also felt a hint of worry because of a recent piece of news she’d heard.
Due to Greg’s excellent performance recently, the House of Sass seemed to be reconsidering reinstating him as an heir.
Vivian, who hadn't known the truth, had initially been happy for Greg, but now she only felt a chill run down her spine.
If Greg were truly pulled back into that family, wouldn’t he be jumping right back into a demon’s den?
“And besides…”
At that moment, another figure suddenly flashed through Vivian’s mind.
Erin Sass.
She was originally born into a distant branch family of the House of Sass, but due to her exceptional talent, she was adopted by the main family, making her Greg’s nominal younger sister.
The thought of this girl, who, though somewhat reluctantly, used to call her ‘Big Sister,’ now being surrounded by demon spies, filled Vivian with intense worry.
“What about Erin then?”
Vivian blurted out, “Does she know about this? Is she in danger?”
Greg’s expression hardened. He looked directly into Vivian’s eyes, his tone devoid of hesitation:
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to rescue Erin from that family too.”
Although Greg initially only wanted to save his own life, he had now grown more ambitious.
He wanted to save his own hide while also doing his utmost to rescue these girls who might otherwise face tragic ends.
Perhaps this was his redemption, as a doomed villain.
