When Ye Yunshang returned home, she handed Lin Miao a small vial containing a small amount of fresh red blood. It looked as though it had only just been drawn.
‘I wonder how Elise will react when she finds out the truth.’
Lin Miao stared at it, momentarily lost in thought.
This vial of blood, which Ye Yunshang had risked her life to retrieve, had been integrated with the symbiotic carapace ant and was now falling into the hands of another queen.
And that queen would do as she had always done: conquer a world and let the blood of countless creatures flow, a quantity that would be incomparable to the blood in this vial.
Blood for blood. The only difference was who the owners of that blood were.
【Elise shows interest】
As Lin Miao placed the blood from the vial into the terrarium, Elise began to react.
She was still pouting, sitting with her arms crossed and her legs kicked up as usual.
However, the moment the worker ants in the terrarium discovered Lin Miao’s actions, Elise could no longer control herself, her eyes constantly darting upward.
Her body trembled slightly, and her legs, which reacted in place of antennae, were swinging violently.
“It’s a gift.”
The moment Lin Miao said those words, Elise could no longer hold back. She lowered her legs and scrambled out of her nest once again.
“Ah...”
Elise aimed the butterfly proboscis extending from her palm toward the blood in the vial.
As she sipped the Elven blood, she understood the nature of Lin Miao’s gift and felt a deep sense of gratitude.
‘Is she feeling apologetic?’
Lin Miao let out a helpless laugh as he watched Elise act in such a flustered and cautious manner.
Elise had grown to the point where she didn't just express simple likes or dislikes. Because of her past misunderstandings, she was acting spoiled and couldn't even bring herself to fully express her affection.
Lin Miao stroked Elise’s head with his finger as she knelt halfway, as if seeking forgiveness.
He wasn't angry about such things, nor did he have any intention of scolding her.
【Elise is determined to achieve victory】
Having accepted this forgiveness, Elise’s heart recovered, and she showed a renewed passion.
She wanted to use the gift Lin Miao gave her to produce results that would satisfy him.
Lin Miao watched with a wry smile as Elise resolved to work harder at killing more enemies.
It was already too late to turn back.
He could only cheer for Elise and hope she wouldn't do things halfway.
“Since the Great One has bestowed the blood of the elven race upon the Queen, does this mean existences like elves can now be born within the colony?”
“That’s not certain yet.”
Celia shook her head in response to Lisette’s question.
Providing genes and Elise completely predating them were two different things.
Furthermore, Elise had no intention of perfectly replicating the genes of intelligent beings like humans or elves.
Extracting only the strengths and special abilities of various organisms to create chimeras was the fundamental behavior the mutated Great Devourer had upheld since its inception.
Elise simply combined the Elven genes she had actually predated and absorbed with other organisms to create entirely different, grotesque lifeforms.
One such creation was the modification of existing Lictor individuals, enabling them to utilize Elven technology—Spirit-Tech.
While Elven genes were indeed involved, those mutants, created after a thorough extraction of practical genes, still looked like nothing more than terrifying synthetic monsters.
The Elven appearance Lisette imagined was merely something Elise used to slightly enhance her own looks to suit Lin Miao’s preferences.
But that was precisely the most important starting point.
Spirit-Tech was a civilization born from the combination of elves, magic, and machinery.
Now that the power of the elves was in her hands, the Great Devourer had reached a level where she could properly wield that power.
“A Prism Cannon!”
Lisette’s eyes widened.
One of the new creations was a weapon that, until recently, had provided the most powerful firepower on this land—the Prism Cannon.
The Great Devourer had reinterpreted and modified it in their own way.
The new recruits tearing through their cocoons were massive, rivaling the size of heavy-armored ants.
They had giant, shrimp-like bodies with sturdy, chitinous legs. When the carapaces on their backs split open, they revealed a massive internal spine that separated and locked into place with a click, rising like the barrel of a howitzer.
This biological weapon drew massive amounts of energy from the magic heart within its body. Its firepower was no longer limited to firing bio-bombs through gas explosions.
The massive amount of magic power consumed was converted into psionic energy. By replacing the artificial spirit core with a bombardier ant equipped with a magic heart, this became the Great Devourer’s version of the Prism Cannon.
The bombardier ant was vaporized, and a high-output light cannon beam, amplified through the barrel, fired from the tip of the spine, streaking across the sky.
“Now, it’s ours.”
Elise grinned as she watched the scene.
Devouring something new was always pleasant. Using it to crush and devour other enemies was even better.
